I was skeptical when I first heard of the program. However, my questions were addressed in the sales process, and I decided to take the plunge.*

Over six months in, and I am very happy with the results. I am absolutely certain the program helped me avoid mistakes that would have cost me far more than what I paid for the program.

Tom shares his trades and reasoning for making his trades daily. And he is always quick to respond in Slack if you want more information. There are also other experienced traders in the community who are willing to share their knowledge and experience as well.

Does every trade win? Of course not. Did I take a loss in April after Trump announced the tariffs? Yep.

If either of those two statements shocks you or makes you think this is an indication of a scam, trading financial instruments of any sort is probably not for you. If you are looking for some magic formula where you can get rich without effort or risk, you will be disappointed by this program. But if you are looking to learn how to trade commodity options, put in a reasonable effort, and get a far-better-than-average return, this program might be good for you.

*I noticed somewhere else that someone said no one offered proof of the program's returns during the sales process. That person must not have carefully watched the promotional video because there is a section where it shows account statements (re-decated account number) for a year of returns. Over the last 6 months of my experience in the program, I have seen Tom reproduce those returns in real-time... and have done it myself for most of the past 4 months.

I joined Tom's class 6 months ago.I was skeptical at first. Juicy monthly return, is it really possible?
Tom proved that it is. His trades are shared real time. Twice weekly,he teaches us his system, trading psychlogy and life lessons, just outstanding.
Not to mention the other coaches !

After 10 months with SOS I can say with 100% conviction that this is an excellent program. Tom Hurd is genuinely honest man who cares deeply about this group. All of his results are posted in our Slack group and there is nothing to hide.
I've traded options before with mixed results, but this is much different because he teaches us a repeatable strategy that minimizes risk and uses sound mitigation methods in losing trades. Of course there are losing trades, but I never lose sleep because I know beforehand what to do.

When I first learned of Short Option Success I was optimistically cautious. How could someone make a 8.5% monthly return on options. Was this another too good to be true “scam?” I set up an appointment to learn more. I received reminders of the phone call which I was grateful for as I have a very busy schedule. After my initial phone call I asked to speak with a few people who were trading following the Short Option Success program. The sales person I was speaking with graciously set up calls to two people and also set up a call with Tom Herd. During the entire process each person I spoke with was open with me regarding their experience, successes/challenges, the Short Option Success community and the leadership of Tom. I made the decision to invest in my financial future and joined the Short Option Success program. One of the biggest reasons that led to my decision to join was my conversation with Tom. Tom is not a flashy sales guy who just wants you to join a program and he makes money. Tom is a genuine, value based man whose sole purpose for offering SOS is to teach people how to achieve financial success. I would love to share with anyone two specific examples of the type of man Tom is but not enough space to do so. What I can say is this, many of you have heard that “I would follow that man anywhere, anytime” that is Tom Herd. I had shared with me Tom’s ROI since 2006, actual statements. Tom has been successful and teaches us the rules he has followed. These rules include what you look for to enter a trade, risk mitigation and when/how to exit a trade. As with any program there will be exceptions to following rules based on market or your positions, this happens rarely. Tom has developed a system not only for successful trading but also successful training and providing tools for success. We have two weekly calls led by Tom that anyone within SOS may join. These calls allow for questions and training on how to be successful. All of us are assigned a “coach” and are part of a smaller group with weekly calls. Tom shares with all of us his current positions each day and in our SLACK community shares when he makes a trade and specifics on the trade. Tom and the coaches take the time to work with beginners as well as experienced traders. After I joined in May 2024, I attended all calls offered per week, had one on one with my coach as well as Tom and did paper trading in Think or Swim. Over three months I learned a lot and averaged a 6% monthly return. When I decided that I was ready to go live Tom and I had a call in which Tom shared with me how to allocate and diversify based on my initial brokerage amount. My return per month since going live in November has averaged 3% as I build my pipeline. In April due to markets conditions I had a setback as did everyone involved in the markets. The big difference was that due to the rules and training provided by Tom my loses were minimized vs other strategies that people offer. I anticipate that my ROI will be 6-8% in 2026 based on Tom’s and others in SOS ROI. There are people who post reviews that have never been in the program they are posting about and say things about people that they have never spoken with or met. All I can do is tell you that my experience with Tom, the SOS community, the tools and the training provided and teaching me how to run this as a business has been tremendously rewarding. I would wholeheartedly recommend this program to anyone.

Tom Hurd is very friendly and he wants to teach you his trading system in the best way possible. He is very experienced and extremely knowledgeable regarding trading futures options in the commodities market. He is dedicated to teaching his method to the SOS group through training videos and twice-weekly meetings. He posts all of his live trades in real time. Also, a report that shows all his active trades is posted daily, so you know where he stands on each trade and his overall account information.

Also as part of the program, you are assigned an assistant coach that teaches a 13-week intensive training course that covers a large range of topics. They are designed to help you develop desirable trading rules, establish proper portfolio allocation, perform fundamental/technical analysis, and how to enter, manage, and exit trades. Another topic that is covered in depth is developing the proper mind set to trade.

SOS has many experienced traders in the group. They are friendly as well and provide a lot of helpful information through the communication portal.

I have learned so much about trading commodity options from SOS. I highly recommend the group.

I love everything about this group. We are like-minded individuals that communicate often and share common goals. We come from different walks of life, but great friendships are formed. I have been with the group for almost a year and can honestly say that I’ve never had this much success with any other trading program that I’ve been involved in.

Can’t say enough about Tom and his character and ethical approach. Excellent teacher providing a large amount of very helpful training. Extremely patient and wonderful at helping to explain complex principles re his very unique style of trading. I have to say I’m shocked at some of the low star reviews as been nothing but positive for me and my wife. Yes investing involves risk but if you truly follow Tom’s principles he outlines, you will be successful and can easily make more than the cost of his course in a very short amount of time. His videos are very easy to follow and self paced with weekly coaching meetings and you receive an assigned coach to guide and assist you along the way. His staff are simply the best and feel Tom is a great leader in this space and very happy we joined his program.

In my opinion, SOS is probably the best group I have experienced. Tom’s system is easy to learn. I am glad that I joined this group.

5 Stars – A Remarkable Experience with Sort Option Success!

I’ve only been involved with Sort Option Success for a short time, and I’ll admit I approached it with a healthy dose of skepticism. However, Tom quickly changed my perspective. He’s been incredibly communicative and responsive—often taking the time to reply even outside normal business hours, which speaks volumes about his dedication.

The group interaction is another standout. The people here are supportive, insightful, and genuinely invested in each other’s success. It’s easily one of the best professional communities I’ve ever been a part of.

Tom’s passion for helping others is evident. He’s approachable, encouraging, and truly cares about the people in this group. His advice has been consistently spot-on and has already made a difference in how I approach options trading.

Loving the experience so far—highly recommend!

I’ve now been in Short Option Success fourteen months and I can honestly say Tom and his trading strategy has upped my trading game many times over. I’m not only thrilled with the skills he’s helped me gain but I feel I’ve learned something that I will be able to use the rest of my life to help benefit me and my family like nothing I’ve ever seen before, and believe me when I say I’ve tried it all. This program is the real deal. I make the high single digits to low double digits monthly. It’s not a get rich quick scheme but it also doesn’t take a lot of time to do. The group camaraderie is a particularly special bonus. Thank you Tom and thank you to the rest of the team.

All the trades are viewable to every member always. No tricks or gimmicks. The results are real and speak for themselves. Tom is a genuine, sincere teacher and has developed a community of traders dedicated to succeeding and helping each other succeed. Help is always available for anyone needing it.

Not Set it and Forget it.

I feel like most coaching programs are set it and forget it, IE pay us the money, follow our course and don't ask questions or question the methods. I believe Tom and the staff truly care about my success. We're in turbulent trading times, and Tom gave out his personal cell phone to make sure that anyone who is in trading trouble can call and get the best help possible. Who does this? Tom Hurd is at it again. I just caught his ad for a free options course. This is nothing but an incentive for you to buy his $6k course. His trading strategy lost over $13k in April 2025. Too bad for those who followed his trades and got hammered too. He doesn't even follow his own strategy and buys options. Please don't fall for gimmicks.

I have not purchased SOS training. My review is based on my experience with having a 45 minute discussion with a sales rep about the program.

The first thing to note is that SOS conducts a loud and persistent sales effort to recruit people to the program. From the moment you schedule the half hour consultation, you get bombarded with texts and emails with threats and pushes to keep your commitment to the scheduled time. And because their CRM seems pretty broken, you get emails and texts questioning why haven't you scheduled the consult yet.

So right off the bat SOS was on my "this is dubious" ledger. Truly successful programs get sought after, not hard sold in my experience.

You have to ask the question "If SOS can return 10% per month, why are they wasting time trying to sell a $6000 course?"

During my half hour consultation I asked twice about whether there is any evidence I could see to back up the claim of 10% per month returns. I was told that I was being sent emails that would have that information.

The emails had links to videos which did not provide anything approximating evidence. No broker statements, no trade examples, and no clear information about what the trading strategy is.

The only clear statement about the strategy in the videos is that it only uses selling of options. This is naked trading, and any cautious trader should have a plan to mitigate risk. Trusting that the trading guru has abnormal success in selecting winning trades is faith based trading, and only the gullible or imprudent accept faith as a plan, especially so when no evidence is offered of a completely abnormal success rate.

So I responded by asking in email again whether I could see examples of the trades they are making, and what the strategy does to hedge risk.

This email was not responded to.

During the discussion the sales rep indicated that I was a person that would fit in with their program and to please ask follow up questions. So I can only assume they found my questions objectionable.

Also part of the sales presentation is to sell the group of other people who have joined the program as great people willing to help others succeed. There is emphasis put on the sales screening on SOS wants people who can be trained and are good at working with other people.

Since being part of the SOS group is presented as a key benefit of joining SOS it raised my curiosity as to why joining a "great group of people" would be so highly promoted. These people are all students looking to learn how to make money, so by definition they are not mentors.

I understand how having discussions with fellow traders would have value, but I would not elevate it to being a principle reason to invest time and money learning the SOS methodology.

So along with my question about getting some evidence about the performance of SOS, I asked about the moderation and nature of discussions in the group. Anyone with experience on chat groups on Facebook or other social media groups knows how toxicity can ruin the experience so you do not want to waste time there.

Perhaps it was my question about the chat groups was the trigger that caused the sales rep to quit communicating with me. I would not be surprised because the nature of the sales pitch seems organized to recruit followers that will obey.

Bottom line, I was not able to get anything close to evidence that SOS can deliver on its claims, and not only was SOS unable to provide extraordinary evidence, they were unwilling to provide any evidence. This lack of transparency is a no go for me.

As to the claim that my email response was not received, it is in my send folder and there was no error indicated by Yahoo that it was not delivered.

More importantly, note that in the SOS response they do not address my concern about not providing evidence for their claimed extraordinary success rate. And as I titled my review, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. I leave it to the attentive reader to make their own judgements as to the importance of this point to their decision.

I have been trading for a while and what I love about SOS is the rules and attention to detail. If you want to be a professional trader, or make money in the markets you have to have rules and systems, SOS has rules and systems. I also love how its just a community of great men and women that all support each other so that we all win.

My experience with Short Options Success is that there is a lot of integrity in that how they portray their program is in line with the success that most of the participants are experiencing. And there is a lot of value delivered for the program cost in terms of the curriculum and the support that is offered on a weekly or even daily basis.

This is the best group I have been part of for options trading. The leader (Tom) is very straightforward, easy to follow, and access to his knowledge. It's not your normal shadow trading platform! Also, the community is very active and supportive of the collective, more like a group of friends working together for the common good! Highly Recommend
