Siesta Campers Reviews 

Pedro, Bruno and Bruno were so helpful. We bought our camper from Siesta Campers 2 1/2 years ago but had a few problems (wear and tear). They bent over backwards to help us and got it all sorted within a matter of hours. Highly recommended and Thank You.

We rented, for the second time, a campervan (VW California) for 3 weeks at Siesta Campers Porto. The reception and explanation on the pick-up day were great. On the 2nd day, a warning light (Oil level too high, visit workshop!) appeared on the dashboard. Contacted Siesta and they told me that most likely the light would be gone the next morning (cold engine). The next morning the light was gone, but the level on the dipstick was still over the maximum. I was adviced that, if the van was not driving weird, I could cotinue driving. A day later, on a Sunday, again a warning light. Reaction: "there is no big problem. Advice: open and close the hood. If you wish, you can visit a garage on Monday if the light comes back on". I would have expected a more active approach from their side as in "We will make an appointment at garage-x". Now, I had to spend valuable time finding a Portuguese garage. Luckily, the open/close the hood-procedure was affective, but still I think it's a bad advice if the level is visibly way too high.
Second point of improvement: we were given a gas-bottle that was not full. We were told: "if you do not cook a four-course meal every day, you will make it". However during the 2nd week, we ran out of gas. We visited 6 addresses that were listed in a list that was mentionned in the rental agreement, but none of them sold the required gas bottle. I kept informing Siesta about our search, but the were not active in helping me to find an address that sold the right bottle. Finally, with the help of a local Bricomarché employee, we found the right bottle at an address that was not listed in the list provided. This process costed us about half a day of our valuable time, the only reaction from Siesta was "we are sorry for the inconvenience". I would have expected, especially after we had problems with the oil-level, a more generous offer (e.g. x-% discount on your next rental) from their side.
Conclusion: great van, but once you are on the road and run into problems, you are more or less on your own.
Finally, we advice Sieste to provide a water hose to fill up the reservoir, to provide 'level-blocks' to get the camper at a (more) horizontal level as a lot of camper-sites are not level and give a (second) full gas bottle if there is a chance that the customer runs out of gas during the rental period.

We did have some issues with booking as it wasn't quite clear if the camper we were looking for was available or not, but after reaching out to Siesta via email we quickly go that sorted out.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. You have to fill in all your extras and personal information to hear they are fully booked! But they have deals. So no worries. We took a look at them and there was an interesting one: for 6 days renting a camper from Lisbon to Faro. I got in touch with them because they claim to be very helpfull. After a few questions there was the quote and reques for paiment. We did it and were very happy. Then I got a phone call. There was a mistake: we could only pick up a day later. Ok, not so wonderfull but we agreed. And then to hear there was a complete mistake: there was nothing available. If I was still interested, I could take a look in a couple of days. The money would be refunded. A sorry and that was it.

Cheater! Received a damaged van (damaged sink). Reported the damage as soon as possible. Despite we had full coverage insurance (and did not cause the damage), they charged us over 600 € for the repair (the material should be around 100€). Contacting the lawyer. Never again.

Couldn't imagine a better way to travel than to rent a van by Siesta Campers! We had the VW California and it felt super new. Driving doesn't feel like a big car, it felt like such a joy because of all the modern technology.

The whole process was so smooth, the people behind Siesta are the friendliest and most chill people! The 24/7 support service is also an extra what's just super nice to have. The interior was another thing that was super modern and easy to work with. Felt like our little home for the few days! The possibility to go every where you want to and have every thing with you is amazing. All the facilities are also just perfect, a big fridge, a few cabinets, a good battery and a sink, more than we need!

I recommend them to anyone looking to go to Portugal!

- Drop off do véhiculo apenas possível dentro de horários reduzidos e verificação maliciosa de qualquer defeito
- Entrega do véhiculo com exigências peculiares (limpeza completa exterior e interior, com esvaziamento do tanque da água)
- Assistência em inglês de forma automática

Can highly recommend Siesta Campers! Really good and fast customer service, friendly staff (a special shoutout to Ricardo at their Faro office) and good vans. We rented the Grand California van from Faro to explore beautiful Algarve and had the best time. Will definitely be renting from Siesta Campers again!

What a beautiful experience ! Monica was the one who took care of us and showed us everything that we had to know about our van, Rio. She was super friendly and very nice !
We’ve spend an amazing trip and came back home with our mind full of great memories. I celebrated my birthday during this roadtrip and what a beautiful way to celebrate ! We slept amazing and we will definitely do it again. 😍

Nous avons loué 3 Vans avec des amis pour 8 jours début Août. Tout s’est très bien passé jusqu’au départ en Van de Lisbonne. Soudainement, en plein autoroute, la tente de toit s’est soulevée. Nous nous sommes rendus compte que le système d’attache du toit était cassé et nous avons du rouler à 60km/h sur l’autoroute. Nous étions pas du tout en sécurité, surtout avec 2 enfants en bas âge. Le système de fermeture n’est pas fiable. Le soir en arrivant au premier campement, le robinet de l’évier était cassé donc inutilisable tout comme la gazinière. Nos amis avaient, de leur côté, leur frigo cassé et un bruit moteur de tracteur. Heureusement le 3 ème Van n’avait pas de problème et c’est le seul que nous avons pu utiliser pour cuisiner! Heureusement que nous avions 3 Vans LOL.
Le service client a bien répondu mais la solution proposée était de faire 3 heures de route aller pour rejoindre un garage partenaire pour faire une réparation soit 6 heures de trajet (hors délai d’attente pour réparer). Bref au moins une journée de perdue. Si nous refusions de se rendre dans le garage alors aucune remise ne serait effectuée sur le séjour.
En clair, Siesta Campers met à disposition des Vans (même avec des défauts) et compte sur leurs clients pour qu’ils prennent sur leur temps de location et de vacances pour les faire réparer. Ainsi, il maximise les temps de location sans gérer les pannes et les défauts (puisqu’ils sont traités par les clients).
Ceci n’est pas du tout correct.
Pour ces raisons, nous ne recommandons pas.

Very happy we picked this company. The van was perfect and the customer service was great from start to finish. Booking online was easy, the prices competitive as we checked with a few different companies, but in the end we made a great choice. Thank you for a great adventure!

We had the chance to borrow Brasil for a few days. Had a great time with this classic Van which is very well maintained and comes with everything you need. At Siesta campers communication is very good! Convenient that its just 2 minutes from the airport. Ricardo explained everything very well and was kind enough to drop us of at the airport on our way back. Great service! Thnx we will recommend you and will comeback for another adventure with one of your classics.

Loved the simplicity of renting with siesta campers, very helpful staff and no hidden extras. We travelled with friends that rented from a different company and there were all sorts of extra fees, so glad we chose siesta!

Ils étaient extrêmement serviables et attentifs à nos besoins, et nous ont fourni tout ce dont nous avions besoin pour profiter pleinement de notre aventure. L'expérience de conduire et de séjourner dans le van était unique en son genre, et cela a ajouté une touche spéciale à notre voyage. The vans are clean, spacious, very well equipped and so easy to drive.
