Donated to this charity as its objectives are essential to help alleviate the suffering of our brothers and sisters in the afflicted countries. God bless all concerned in bringing comfort to the sufferers of these horrific conditions.

I feel desperate and upset for these children every time I see these requests for money daily on tv advertising, I can’t believe that these children are really suffering this infection, I support my local children’s hospice MARTIN HOUSE HOSPICE ( children’s hospice in Yorkshire )

See this advert regularly, what I do not understand is why would mothers just allow for their childrens eyes to be plastered in flies and make no attempt whatsoever to stop them, surely there must be a fly mask available for a child??

About to sign up to a monthly donation due to the desperate situation the poor children are in. The fact the CEO of this organisation earned a salary of £172,212 in 2024 is enough to put me off for life. Complete and utter greed, completely obliterates the integrity of the organisation.

Its absolutely heartbreaking to see these television advertisments of children & babies going blind but why can't you do some fundraising to raise the ongoing necessary funds to help these poor innocent children 😢 & why can't 100% of all donations kind hearted individuals have and are donationing go towards helping this cause instead of only 91% being given to the charity ? 💔

I'm astounded by the
complaints about the CEO's salary, they obviously haven't checked out any others, she is one of the lowest paid in the sector. Really should do proper checking before ranting publicly.

They talk to you nicely in the street. They don't accept cash so they ask you to donate through a qr code that brings you to a page. I was about to pay when I saw that the payment that the staff told me is in reality a monthly payment. Luckily for me I sat down and read the payment page before taking any action. I didn't donate and will definitely not donate through their website.

Was looking up where to donate to Sightsavers on internet, when read a lot of the reviews for this so called charity. The saying charity begins at home certainly appears to be most apt when one reads of the incredible, disgraceful salary the CEO receives. I shall be donating my money somewhere else now.

Eyesight is something I can’t imagine living without now that I’ve been lucky enough to have no problems with over the course of my life. I wouldn’t know how to help those people myself. It might sound like it’s a cheap and simple fix but if anyone wishes to navigate those waters without having paid staff that knows what they’re doing? Good luck 🤞

these types of Charities are created to milk money from people who feel guilty bout what's advertised. this company In particular say children are suffering from cataracts but the main cause of cataracts is aging eyes so very rare for children to get this.. I know from working for a charity it is not just the CEO making a very healthy living.. where I worked the CEO was on 250k the director 200 and ops manager 160k just the wages alone .. as with all the tv charities they are blatantly tied worry helping these animals or people just stop and find a charity you know supports a real cause for less personal wealth .

I don't see why they cannot use fly repellent to keep the flies away from the children's eyes, it would solve half the problem of all the problem

Most of the bad reviews on here are complaining about the CEO's salary and this is absurd. The charity does a fantastic job and it's a shame if people are put off by these reviews. I'm glad there's someone seriously competent in charge.

I wouldn’t give any money to sight savers let there CEO pay for the operation instead of asking uk people to fund there cause it’s disgusting we in the uk should look after our own citizens charity begins at home I’m sick of seeing ads like this putting pressure on the uk people Uganda government should step in

Recently signed up to give £3 per month to Sightsavers as one of a number of charities I give to. However, I have since seen the exorbitant, eye-watering salary of the CEO, Caroline Harper at nearly £168,000 pa in 2023, so probably hovering around £200,000 now - and this excludes the employer pension contributions! An astonishing amount for someone running a charity. I will be cancelling the direct debit and will add the £3 to my monthly donation to my local hospice.

I think the comments here may be unfair. British Red Cross is bigger and pay more people very high salaries.
This seems to be a smaller charity and they say 91% of donations does go straight to the beneficiary.

Just watched an advert for sightsavers on tv, they are asking for 'Just £72'. Are they not aware of how people are struggling to put food in their children's bellies, these charities are now becoming a joke by saying how much they want you to give. £72 HAS NOW TAKEN THE CAKE, the CEO of this questionable charity was paid £167 thousand pounds in 2023. Perhaps he can pay £72 on my behalf, look online and you will find that this so called charity, has been plagued by controversies.

I watch late afternoon TV and see so many adverts for so many different charities that tug at my conscience that I don't know which I should choose. Having a stream of these heart wrenching films one after the other several times a day becomes too much to take at times. However, I disagree with the reviewers who are complaining that adverts that must have been filmed some years ago are still being used, because they still have the same impact, and surely it makes more financial sense not to spend money unnecessarily on making fresh films?

The Royal Commonwealth Society for the Blind, or Sightsavers to you and me, targets an old-fashioned underbelly in society with 50s inspired TV adverts based on 'human zoo' type images of Black children. They say they are global. I say prove it!
