Same issues with membership cancellation. No point having a one month membership and then ending up paying for 2 as you can't cancel without 1 month notice!

Terrible gym with terrible membership. They'll try to milk you for every penny.
Where do I even start.
Music is way too loud. I use noise canceling headphones just so that I can give my ears some rest from the loud music. It feels like a nightclub and if you want me to send a proof, I am happy to record the sound next time I'm in the gym. This is the Uxbridge, simply gym.
The weights are also ALL OVER THE PLACE. I have never been able to find a weight in its place and I have been a member for over a year now, that's how bad it is.
The toilets are never clean, I have addressed this many times but nothing is done about it.
Somebody from Headoffice seriously needs to come and inspect this gym cos it's crazy how much mess there is.
And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE lower the music volume so that I can focus on my workout and not go deaf. Thank you!
Average gym and can’t really complain much about the facilities. But if you try to cancel your membership it becomes a complete nightmare and they charge you for an additional month even if you give them a full month notice and their cancellation policy says 30 days notice. Just like any other gym, sign up in 2 minutes but cancel and they will milk you for months.
I have used this gym in Cardiff Bay since mid December 2022. I do like the space. There aren't many benches so in peak times you struggle but during quiet periods it serves its purpose well. It's clean too.
Just after New Year, however, I was spoken disrespectfully by a Senior Member of staff there twice in the same session which has left a bitter taste in my mouth when using the gym. The second Fracas was like being shouted at by an angry parent. I don't think anyone in a Customer liaison role has spoken down at me in such a way before. I was going to leave it but this is more of a warning not to step out of line with this particular person. I am under contract so I will stay, but sadly this experience has made me wish I never joined the place.
I occasionally work in Cardiff for short periods of time. I used Cardiff Bay Simply Gym last summer and it was all good. I paid a one off fee, and used the gym for the length of my stay in Cardiff.
This year I was back again, but the person who I spoke to told me I was required to set up a direct debit for two months and she would put me on a corporate rate. She told me that a month before I was leaving Cardiff to pop back in and they'd cancel the membership at the gym.
I was only in Cardiff for 8 weeks, but I figured as all I had to do was come back and cancel the membership at the gym it was worth it.
4 weeks later I pop over to the reception and ask to cancel. Turns out you have to phone their office Monday - Friday during office hours. The nature of my work means I cannot get to a phone week days during office hours.
When I pointed out that the woman who originally sold me the membership had lied about the method of cancellation I was told it wasn't a lie - she simply misrepresented the facts (?!) I was also told if I cancelled my direct debit via the bank they would 'fine me admin fees' - given I didn't sign any form of contract with Simply Gym they wouldn't have any authority to fine me so this is clearly a scare tactic to stop me cancelling my membership.
I come to Cardiff for work a couple of times a year. I will not use Simply Gym again. It seems astonishing to me that they are happy to lose customers in this way.
Terrible management of membership and customer services at the Uxbridge gym. When you ring them you speak with a person who can do nothing. And the manager is hard to get hold of. We were told we had to give 1 month's notice for cancellation and were advised we could freeze our account instead, only to discover after several months that they had restarted charging us without notice.
I was a member of the Southend Branch around both lock downs. Positive it is 24 hour if that is what you are looking for however gym is looking tired and layout is cramped.
This was not the worse part though. They use a third party to collect payments. With the option to suspend membership I needed to request this twice before it was actioned with payments refunded. No notice given of the DD being set up again and when I contacted them you are left with abuse from staff and threats of additional "Admin" fees. AVOID, there are much better gyms in town.
This comment is for CEO of simplygym.net,obviously you do not care about your gym users because you haven't replied or commented on our experience or the feedback we left in regards to the incompetency of your people in charge at your Uxbridge gym.
Attending the Southend branch- baring…
Attending the Southend branch- baring in mind we are mid -pandemic. The top floor gym section has no air-con and the windows are nailed shut! The air is humid- which means that people are not being protected. I, amongst others, have complained- they have said that the windows near the stairs are open (also on the first floor- so clearly the reason why the windows are nailed shut is not due to safety). They have blamed head office! Why is a gym not providing adequate ventilation during a global pandemic is beyond me! Clearly a letter for government or for the Council to deal with- especially silly if staff are not willing to deal with this matter properly! Just not good enough! It’s hot, sweat everywhere, and people’s germs being spread. Disgusting!
