All three keys failed within two years of light use
I purchased a set of three RADAR keys from Solid As A Lock in September 2024. For those who don't know, these keys are used by disabled people to access public toilets while out and about. 1 year and 5 months later, one of these keys broke in my hand as I was about to use it (I was astonished as I've never seen a key break like this before). I sent a polite email with photo, requesting a replacement, and was astonished again to get this reply: "I'm afraid, due to the length of time since your order we are unable to send out a replacement. Of course, if you do wish to repurchase from us at any point in the future we will happily throw you in some extra for free." Nothing to say they were sorry that it had broken, and no offer to replace the broken key. A couple of weeks ago, another of the keys broke in my hand, again as I was about to use it. Back at home, I gently tested the remaining key for strength, and it also broke - all three keys failed within two years of purchase. The company's previous response on Google reviews was "we are unable to determine the circumstances that may have contributed to the key breaking" - well, the circumstances were that the keys were in my pocket and broke as I took them out to use. On ebay there is a photo from someone else who purchased these keys, and one of them arrived broken, which I think tells you something about their quality. After some searching I managed to find replacement keys online at a similar price but of very much better quality. The replacements are made of a single piece of metal so I'm confident the tops will not just drop off. I think it's worth repeating that these keys are likely to be purchased by disabled people who may urgently need to use the toilet. If the key is of such poor quality that it breaks and they cannot access the toilet, people may well soil themselves. So how many keys would Solid As A Lock suggest disabled people carry with them? One plus a spare in case the first one breaks? One plus two spares? I suggest that for the sake of its disabled customers, Solid As A Lock might like to have a rethink, give refunds when requested and use better quality keys in the first place.
