Good at the basics but lack of willingness to communicate with the client and be helpful. As with many solicitors, there seems to be a lack of connection between forms/information being sent in and being retrieved by the relevant solicitor acting on the case. Denial of receipt only to find it had been received and in the system at some later time

The communication from the case handler was terrible throughout, even when a complaint was raised, this was not acknowledged. Client missed completion twice due to poor communication and organisation from the case handler.

Service was shocking, would not recommend. No updates, no communication, calls not returned, charges added with no explanation. No action when complained.

This was a simple remortgage for a client but slow progress and only completed after we put pressure on the case handler to get on with it. Should really have completed in mid-January but took 4 weeks longer.

Poor relationship with solicitor firms not knowing the status of cases.

Sort refer is dealing with my file compliance with their subsidiary, Sort legal. I have been told my file is "with the compliance team". I asked for names - "There are no names. They are a team". So it seems my file is with a nebulous group of anonymous entities checking on my financials. I asked for a timeframe: "We don't chase them. We let the process happen when it happens". 6 months into the process, the seller is understandably frustrated and the sale is likely going to fall through today because of this anonymous team. What a disgrace.

Update 27 Nov: As anticipated, the sale fell through yesterday. We provided the information requested in the automated response, and of course, as also anticipated, this complaint went nowhere. 6 months wasted for the seller and us!

I have referred through Sort Refer for some years and having recognised that in the house buying/selling process, things don't always go smoothly, it is good to have The Sort Refer team there to step in and help efficiently when required.

As ever, Vanda from Gordon's Property Lawyers provided a superb service throughout this re-mortgage. Vanda is my go-to case handler and has never let me down.
