Relievable system, room to improve customer support

We’ve been using Square for around a year now for our florist business and overall our experience has been good. The system is easy to use, reliable for day-to-day transactions, and works well for both in-store and busy periods.
The main area that could be improved is customer service, which can sometimes be slow or not as helpful as expected when issues arise.
That said, overall it’s a solid system and has worked well for our business

too easy for clubs

easy to set up, easy to use, no on going costs, and makes card payments available and easy, we are a small nonj for profit sporting club and Square has made the transition to include EFTPOS sooo easy.

The square helped us raise more money…

The square helped us raise more money for a charity organisation as people did not all carry cash and were willing to use the square.

The setting up of the account was easy…

The setting up of the account was easy it was only when one of our signatures on our bank account seemed to give square an issue it all came to a screaming holt.

Charging subscription prices in top of merchant fees

Very disappointed that they want extra money every month just to unlock a couple of features is disappointing when they already charge 2.2% of the purchase for online bookings. The features aren’t things that make you extra money they are things that should be standard like syncing the calendar with your google calendar

The app is perfect

The app is perfect. Easy to use and set up. I wish id thought of it sooner. I'm just a small business selling on Etsy and just recently started selling at the Markets. Highly recommend.

I am using Square from last one year as…

I am using Square from last one year as a emergency backup whenever our main EPOS is logging in or restarting and every single time whenever I use Square they hold my money and even though today they told me to give my camera recordings of us selling goods we are running this grocery store from last year. We pay our taxes get stuff on invoices have everything legal and I don’t think they have any right to do our audit as we didn’t need anything wrong but they have a lot of problems while processing the payments.

Square does sometimes pause transfers and ask for extra information (like invoices, proof of delivery, or other records) when our systems flag unusual or higher-risk activity. This is part of our responsibility as a regulated payments provider to protect you and your customers from fraud and chargebacks, and it’s covered in our terms and our information-request process.

The request for camera recordings is one example of documentation that can help our review team confirm that the payments are for legitimate in-person sales. If you don’t have or can’t reasonably provide that, you can still respond to the information request with what you do have (e.g., invoices from your suppliers, recent bank statements, tax records, and a clear description of the goods/services you sell and how you take payments). Our review team looks at the full picture, not just a single document. To move things forward as quickly as possible, please:

- Sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to Settings → Information Requests (or use the link in the email/text we sent).
- Fill out the form and upload whatever documentation you can, then submit. Our team typically reviews submissions within 1–2 business days and will follow up by email or Dashboard if they need anything else.

I know it feels like an audit when you’ve been operating legitimately and paying taxes, but these reviews are not an accusation that you’ve done anything wrong — they’re a standard risk and compliance process that applies to many businesses, especially where card activity or patterns trigger our automated checks.
