These people are predators

These people are predators. We received an official quote. When the movers came, the price increased by the hour and after a quote of $4,000, we ended up paying almost $9,000. Then came the shakedown and refusal to deliver our goods until we paid the $1,000 extortion fee. This is not even mentioning the fact that several thousands in damages were done, and they are remitting us $63 for the loss of half of our furniture and goods. Overall, it would have been cheaper to not move our belongings and buy all new furniture.

DO NOT USE! Unprofessional!!

DO NOT USE!! We were told we went over our reserved space, and had to pay more BEFORE our belongings were loaded. We had no mattresses, no couch, no dining set. Only 2 small black shelves, an entertainment stand, hope chest, and a dresser. The rest of our load was boxes and bins. The movers charged a $200 packing fee, which was not previously disclosed. Everything was already packed! They left our home without providing an inventory list.
The movers had inflated our price by 300cu.ft. We felt as if our belongings were being held ransom. The unprofessional and angry manner in which moving men communicated, made us feel as if this was our "only option if we want our stuff moved". If we attempted to take pictures or videos, the driver became confrontational and uncomfortably aggressive. We feared retaliation towards our belongings if we didn't "go along with his claims" regarding cubic feet and pay him.
When our items and furnishings arrived at our new home, many of the boxes and bins were crushed or crumpled in some way. Some boxes were torn partially open. One shelf was completely destroyed and my dresser was broken and received cosmetic damage. The movers had no markers to differentiate between our items and someone else's; at one point they moved a box and an air purifier into our home that wasn't ours, and were asked to remove them.
We made a claim for damages and its been ignored!

SCAM MOVERS

I really wish that I could give Starline Movers a negative 10 review, so I had to settle for the least favorable review possible! Because you are reading reviews for Starline Movers, that makes you wiser than me. I wish that I had realized how much of a scam these movers are. DO NOT even think about calling these people!!! I moved from Florida to RI recently. Talked to JACOB who lied to me and said that my quote for a direct move to RI. Starline Movers contract out to other movers whom you do not know. As my moving date of July 14 or 15 got closer, I was trying to get an exact date because I had to schedule a closing on my condo. I constantly called them trying to get an answer, but they would not call me back with information. They did not follow through on phone calls. I found out at the last minute when I would be moving. Then, the contracted mover showed up many hours late, stressed me out with filling many pages of paperwork, and said I had to pay $150.00 extra for each TV I was moving. He was stressing me out to the core. I lift the TVs behind because I was not going to pay that ridiculous fee. After my stuff was loaded, I assumed that it was headed to RI. No such luck! It took 16 days for my delivery, and when it arrived I had broken items. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT USE STARLINE MOVERS!!!!!

Consistently poor communication and a failure to follow through on promised contact

In response to Starline Vanlines reply.
After providing proof with footage that no threat was posed on MoveKing’s mover 7/3/25. On 7/7/25 at 8:05pm I received an email from Starline Vanlines that stated:

“Akasi,

Let’s speak tomorrow at 12pm so we can come to a resolution and help you with the situation. I feel there may be a miscommunication and misunderstanding that can be resolved with a resolution.”

I did not receive this call the next day 7/8/25 @ 12pm. I called today at 9:30am and received no answer. As I stated before when I received no call back within 15minutes as told by a Starline Vanlines customer service representative. Starline Vanlines consistently displays poor communication and a failure to follow through on promised contact. Due to their poor communication skills & failure to notify me of MoveKing LLC prior to the day of my scheduled move. I am experiencing the worst out of state moving experience with their subcontracting moving company MoveKing LLC. Since I’m sure Starline VanLines will follow up with this comment. I would like a full $1700 refund for the multiple violations Starline Vanlines & MoveKing LLC has displayed according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration FMCSA.

Let’s forget about the beginning of…

Let’s forget about the beginning of this scam on 13 May 2025. Showed up 8 hours late for the move from 4365 George Frye Cir Woodbridge Virginia. Quoted 10 thousand at first. Okay my wife left some items off so once they are there with a truck too small the price jumped to 18 thousand. I’m okay with that. A one day move turns into 3 days. One because they severed had enough people to help, going to Home Depot trying to find bodies. Never the same people for the 3 days.Delayed my process for other workers to come clean my carpet, paint my house and final cleaning. Worked around all that. Now all the extra charges start piling up after the first trip, remember it took 3 days. After the 3 day the bill is now 38 thousand and they have my stuff. Now on the delivery end they do the same thing. Show up with only two people, no tools, used mines and I had to help them unload my stuff. So after that night I told them when they come back they better have some help, so they went out on Craig List and found 2 bodies. When my stuff left Va I was told it was going to the Wear House and would be reloaded onto and 18 wheeler. They showed up in a box truck again. A lot of my items were broken and some never made it back on the truck. Example all 3 of my ladders were missing, guess they were left in the Wear House. Never received and inventory and I’m still waiting for a receipt, maybe I can claim some of it on my taxes. I’m still dealing with them as I’m writing this review. My professional and personal opinion is they are scammers. Please Stay Away and believe the reviews you are seeing. Everyone can not be lying!!!! Bottom line I end up paying 45 thousand dollars to move from Virginia to Jacksonville Florida!!!

Starline are BROKERS - NOT movers. They will contract with a business you don't know!
Starline are brokers. They will contract with a moving company for your move and you won't know who until the last minute, so you can't even look them up and compare prices or reviews. My contractor was Cita Van Lines - if you want to see THEIR reviews, feel free to look them up.
Here's what happens: The movers show up late, the boss driver guy will act completely incredulous that you have so much stuff, and demand $xxxx extra money to move you. At this point you are exhausted, mentally drained, and you will just pay the extra money.
After the fact? They bent the frame of the only couch I really even cared about moving, so it no longer reclines. They somehow "lost" several boxes and a lamp in particular I remember asking him to take.
I have no idea why it's so hard to put stuff on a truck, drive it, and deliver it. Yes, it's physically demanding. But how hard is it to just be honest? These people are dealing with folks who are under egregious amounts of stress, and they know it. And they will rip you off, ask you to not say anything to anyone, and then lose/damage/mishandle/break your stuff.
DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE PEOPLE. EVER. PLEASE - Rent a UHaul or your own movers you've vetted - you're going to pay the same no matter what, and you won't have to deal with the aftermath!

Unreliabe--Do not Hire for your move

This company is unprofessional, unreliable, and price-gougers. They do not vet their third-party movers. I was promised a truck large enough for my move and the movers arrived with a truck too small for my load, which resulted in them making three trips. I was promised a receipt and inventory for pick up and delivery and I haven't received either. They do not take accountability for their hired moving company and leave it up to the customer resolve issues as if we hired the movers directly instead of going through them. The movers held our household goods hostage until we paid their additional moving price. Starline seem to be complicit in this process because they were not alarmed by the additional fee at all. A very frustrating process.

First and foremost, we are not price gougers. Our rates are calculated based on the actual volume of goods moved, the services provided, and any adjustments made throughout the process. On May 28, we received a revised inventory list from you which included several additional items not reflected in the original estimate. These included:

7 TVs

1 Universal weight machine

3 side tables (2 with glass inserts)

1 game table with 4 chairs

1 boxed dining table

1 nesting table

1 wine cooler

2 bar stools

1 office desk

2 storage stands (office)

1 end table (office)

1 printer table

2 large round mirrors

This updated list represents a significant increase in both volume and weight, which naturally impacted the size of the truck required and the final cost of your move. While we work closely with our partner carriers, the inventory provided is essential for planning logistics accurately. However, upon on-site revision you had a total of 800-900 pieces which is excessively more then originally quoted.

We understand your concern regarding the truck size and the additional trips made. However, based on the updated inventory, the truck dispatched was appropriately allocated to the original estimate. When the load exceeded what was originally declared, our third-party movers did their best to accommodate the changes on-site.

Additionally, we take any claims of items being "held hostage" very seriously. Payment disputes between carriers and customers can become complicated, which is why we strongly encourage customers to notify us immediately when issues arise. It is also worth noting that we were not informed of the additional fee dispute at the time it occurred, which limited our ability to intervene promptly.

We also apologize for any delay in documentation. If you have not yet received your receipt or inventory, please contact us directly and we will provide those right away.

We hold our service providers to high standards and regularly review their performance. Your feedback will be used in that process. However, we ask that further concerns be addressed through your original communication thread, as this allows us to respond more efficiently and thoroughly.

Do your research do not trust this company

Starline says they wish I would have reached out before their contractors departure. I did, I was on the phone with them complaining about the shelves not being broken down before the drivers pulled off

They said they needed to pack things safely. 90% of what they took was in hard side plastic containers.

Packing to ensure safely they only packed the truck 1/2 way to the top. I packed my storage unit in the exact same what (Or as close to it as I could) from the photo that came off the truck. At that I still only used 196 Cu Ft.

I intentionally rented a storage space that was the EXACT same dimensions as the truck and I only filled half of the storage unit.

I was forced to buy extra space on the day they were packing me out because the contractors stated I had run out of space, they only cleared my garage that was one wall 8x8x2.

Items that were packed in boxes arrived and some of the boxes were broken or soaking wet

everything was covered in a black film

on the day of delivery I spoke to the contractor delivery supervisor who spoke very little English

I was on the phone with Starline as the delivery was being made and I voiced my concern about the shelves that were not broken down on P/U were delivered on D/O the measurements of the shelves were 7x2x3 and 7x1x4

Please remember I am not disputing the move in entirety. I am disputing the excess 100 cu ft that I was forced to buy, the excess storage fees, and excess shipping fees that were attached to cu ft that I clearly did not need to purchase.

I was told by the contractors "not to call the main office and they would cut me a good deal." Had I not called the main office, who knows what may have actually arrived or what kinds of extra fees they would have tried to tack on in the end?

The measurements for the HHG that were on the truck were not accurate as they used a cargo strap to mark the distance from the back wall of the truck

he inside measurements of the truck are 7.5x7 in order to use 425 cu ft I would have had to have packed that truck top to bottom side to side and then come out 8 feet from the wall I DID NOT even come close to that even if I used 3.5HX7WX8D I keep coming up with 196 CU Ft the same CU FT that I have come up with in my storage unit.

I am tired of going round and round with this company, it has been the same complaint since day 1 I was over charged and they know I was and they tried to sway me into buying more space off the books and then I would not have a leg to stand on.

Starline keeps relying on the word of the contractors who have clearly lied. At the beginning of this move no one from Starline asked for photos of my property so they could get a better idea of what I am moving they gave "Rounded in-general numbers.

I packed the entire rest of my apartment which was all of my furniture all of my clothes, all of my kitchen gadgets and 30 more hard sided plastic bins and it all fit in the back of a 10ft uHaul box truck which is 6.3x6.1x9.11 or 350 CuFt

The property they moved for me would have only filled 1/2 of that truck if I only built it up 3 ft from the floor but used all of the rest of the space

Pure Fraud - Stay Away

We were recently defrauded by this company. We signed for the move and attempted to pay the initial deposit. Our original payment from Wells Fargo was declined by the bank suspecting fraud. We tried using SoFi and it was declined. It retrospect those were huge red flags. Starline asked us to email them a copy of our personal check. We were like ok? They they somehow endorsed a check from the email likely printing it out and presenting it as the original? On our scheduled move date they did not show up and refuse to refund the money.

The payment in question was made via a check that was made payable to our company, signed by you, and sent to us willingly via email. At no point was the check forged or mishandled—it was processed as a standard substitute check per your authorization.

As for the scheduled move, our records indicate that you verbally canceled the service with our customer service representative on May 26th, prior to the dispatch of any moving crew. Because of this cancellation, the move did not proceed as scheduled.

We understand that moving can be a stressful process, but we must respectfully correct inaccurate claims. We remain available to further discuss this if needed and are committed to maintaining honest and transparent service with all of our clients.

Fraudulent movers. Stay far away!

Stay far away from this fraudulent unprofessional company. A bunch of liars, thieves and pathetic customer service. Forget about full transparency. I have moved many times using numerous companies, but this time using this excuse for a ‘company’, if they can even call themselves that, was by far the most shocking experience on all levels. People, under no terms should you sign any ‘binding estimate/contract’ with these people! Yes of course they will respond to all negative reviews with excuse after excuse (never an apology or accountability which is interesting in itself), but under no situation should any customer be treated the way I and so many other customers have been dealt with. Their excuses are all lies! Don’t believe a word these people say to you when getting a contract or any excuse on any of these multiple poor reviews. Zero stars into the negatives if this was possible!!!

Deceive, Extort, Profit

This company has extremely dishonest business practices. Their system is that they ask you over the phone what it is that you want to move. They create an "inventory list." What they do when they arrive is say that your "inventory list" that you gave them on the phone is not accurate and they ask you to pay another $800 when they get there. They try to confuse you and tell you and tell you it is "impossible" to give you an accurate estimate. Their entire business model is to give inaccurate quotes, extort more money from you at the last minute, and then tell you that the price change is your fault. When/if you cancel the service because of deceptive practices that are clearly part of their standard operations, they cite item #20 in their contract that you sign and say any cancellation at time of service is not eligible for a refund. Essentially they use this clause in the contract to stonewall any sort of refund even though that they fail to provide the service they agreed upon.

There's more. However, they never, not once, prove what you actually "tried to add" at the last minute. You can ask them directly, "what is it that I tried to add into my inventory?" They can list no actually proof of what changed, because nothing actually did change. So what was it, Starline Van Lines? What was it exactly that we tried to add? Can you tell me? They cannot. Just look at all their pitiful responses to all the other customers that got scammed.

Zero communication

You are telling me to call customer service- they don’t answer or call back. They said they would call me May 7 to let me know if the delivery date is May 8 or 9 as contracted… haven’t heard anything

Unfortunately, the small move scheduled for that morning ran over time causing the team to arrive a bit later then anticipated. You were in full communication with our Customer Service team throughout the day and kept you updated along the way. In regards to the additional charges, please note upon speaking with our Quality Assurance Manager you were informed that your items are bigger then our computerized standard size and therefore more space was required. The day of the move you spoke with our Customer Service team and agreed that additional space was needed and ultimately agreed to the additional charges after everything was explained to you once again. If you are still not satisfied with the explanation provided please feel free to contact our Customer Service Department for additional explanation.

A company that steals your furniture and destroyed my furniture with horrific damage they are price gougers

My furniture was stolen and destroyed with horrific damage. You are price gougers and threatened me the day of the move. Your so called movers stole furniture from me the day of the move. Your company lies. I wish I would have never had you so called company move my personal belongings because you are a scam

We deeply apologize for your experience with us. We have received all 17 emails. However, please keep in mind a lot of the photos you sent were duplicates. In your emails you mentioned we broke your furniture and all kinds of accusations that are baseless, like accusing us of "stealing". Please indicate what items you alleged to have been stolen so we can further investigate. In regards to the damaged items, we are extremely sorry to hear about the damages found upon your delivery. Our main goal is to ensure the assigned carrier gets all the furniture picked-up and delivered safely in the same condition as they were picked-up. However, please understand it is moving and incidents do happen. We sent the photos of the damages to the Claims Department for review. They should've been in touch with you, if this wasn't the case please let us know we can intervene and make sure your claims is processed accordingly. Should you require any additional information, please feel free to contact our Customer Service Department for further assistance.

This company is a scam

This company is a scam. They do not follow through with contracts or their policy. I had to cancel my move and did so in writing within the timeframe indicated in the contract. I also received communication in writing that I would be eligible for a refund. Still 9 months later I have not received a refund and no one will answer our emails asking what could be delaying our refund. The customer service line does not help and only asks that we email to follow up. No one will answer our emails and that is the problem. We have now had to ask our bank to help dispute the amount in hopes that we can finally get our deposit back.

Avoid at All Costs – Dishonest, Careless, and Unresponsive

I wish I could give this company zero stars. From start to finish, my experience with Starline Vanlines was a nightmare. They outright lied about their services, broke the majority of my furniture, and now refuse to take pay for the damage.

First, they promised professional handling and "guaranteed" my belongings would arrive safely. Instead, my items showed up jammed into an 18-wheeler and when my furniture finally arrived, almost everything was scratched, broken, or completely destroyed.

Their so-called "customer service" is a joke—they refuse to offer any compensation or even acknowledge their mistakes.

If you care about your belongings and want a stress-free move, STAY AWAY from Starline Vanlines. They are unprofessional, dishonest, and should not be in business. Learn from my mistake and take your money elsewhere.

replying to their reply 3/14: NONE of my items I packed were damaged so your review of my file in WRONG. The items damaged were dressers/home storage shelves which were my main reason for paying for your services. I have contacted the insurance company and sent them new pictures and only received $81 offer for compensation. That is nowhere near what my items cost. I paid too much for my move to get offered basically nothing for my items.

We are extremely sorry these items were damaged during transit. However, please keep in mind it is moving and incidents do happen. DO NOT USE STARLINE VANLINES

DO NOT USE STARLINE VANLINES – Worst Moving Experience Ever!

If you’re considering Starline Van Lines, DO NOT DO IT! My move from Brooklyn, NY, to Atlanta, GA, was a complete nightmare from start to finish. They misled me, overcharged me, outsourced my move to unknown third parties, and provided horrendous customer service.

Bait and Switch Pricing
I initially agreed to a price of $3,862.68 after being reassured my move would be handled professionally and delivered on time. At the last minute, they claimed my inventory required more space and forced me to pay an extra $750 deposit. But that wasn’t the end of their shady pricing tactics.

On December 23, 2024, a completely different company, Top Rated Moving Van Lines, showed up instead of Starline. They demanded I sign blank documents and later claimed I had exceeded the estimated square footage. If I wanted my belongings loaded, I had no choice but to pay another $1,995.92 in cash via Zelle. At this point, the cost had more than doubled from my original quote. This is blatant fraud!

Delivery Delays & Lies
I was promised my belongings would arrive by Christmas, but after endless calls and emails, I kept receiving different dates. Then, a driver from yet another random company, One Stop Relocation, told me I wouldn’t receive my things until January 4 or 5, 2025. Now, I am being forced to pay ANOTHER $1,995 in cash upon delivery – with no guarantees my items are even intact!

Disgraceful Customer Service
The few times I managed to reach a customer service rep, I was accused of lying and treated with zero professionalism. I left voicemails, sent emails, and followed up multiple times—only to be ignored. Jacob, the original representative, was nowhere to be found after they took my money.

Final Warning – Stay FAR Away!
This company operates unethically and preys on customers with deceptive pricing, hidden fees, and third-party subcontractors. I am now filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Department of Transportation, and other consumer protection agencies.

SAVE YOURSELF THE NIGHTMARE – DO NOT USE STARLINE VANLINES!

First and foremost, after reviewing your file it looks like your inventory went from originally 9 Items, 38 Pieces to 26 Items, 63 Pieces which is the reason of the price increase. Additional items were added and therefore, the price increased. Please note we did NOT force you to do anything. You willingly made the payment due to the additional items that were being added which you seemed to have understood at that time. During the time of the pick-up of your household you were charged for packing as none of the items were packed and you file did not include packing, all the packing needed to be done prior to the crew's arrival. In regards to the delay of your delivery we have contacted the Dispatch Department and find out what exactly occur. However, please note due to the holidays a lof of our shipments did experience a few delays, nonetheless we will most definitely be reaching out to you for further clarification.

Starrline was sent a document from my bank showing the amount Starline took out of my bank account. The amount the took was $350 more than they are stating.
Starline Van line are liars. This issue has been sent to the States Attorney. You can lie to the States Attorneys
