Outstanding Product, Even More Outstanding Support
To understand this review, you need to understand me. I founded a CIC company last December to provide free support for people suffering from gambling addiction. With no UK funding available, every penny I spend comes directly out of my pocket, so I think very carefully before buying anything.
Much of my work involves creating videos, documents, and animations for my website. After a year of development, I moved from a single 48-inch widescreen monitor to two 32-inch monitors, as I run both an Apple Mac Mini M4 and a Linux machine. To make this setup work properly, I purchased the TE-Smart HDK202-E23 KVM switch.
From the start I was worried. My Logitech mouse and keyboard use Bolt, which isn’t widely compatible. I tried everything: new leads, a cheap keyboard and mouse, different setups. I could get my Linux machine to work, but the Mac simply wouldn’t cooperate. At that point, I thought I’d wasted my money.
Out of desperation, I contacted TE-Smart support — with low expectations, as most tech companies I’ve dealt with have dreadful customer service.
But this is where TE-Smart completely surprised me. Within 12 hours (overnight!) I had a reply from Kelly in support. She asked about my setup, and once I’d sent the details, she came back with clear step-by-step instructions to upgrade one of the chips inside the KVM.
The process took less than five minutes, and suddenly everything worked perfectly. Both systems, both monitors, no issues at all.
I believe the reason this update was required is down to Apple’s constant hardware changes — every year they release new silicon machines that behave differently in how they handle external video and USB access. The Mac Mini M4 is no exception. TE-Smart had clearly recognised this and provided a firmware/board update that fixed the compatibility issue straight away.
Some may argue this should have been resolved before shipping, and I’d agree. But had I not experienced the problem, I wouldn’t have discovered just how exceptional TE-Smart’s customer service is. Kelly’s support was outstanding — fast, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful.
Would I recommend TE-Smart? Absolutely. A thousand percent. Their products are invaluable, and their customer service is the best I’ve experienced in the tech company
