Studied at That’s Mandarin in Shanghai and honestly, it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made this year.

The structure is super well thought out. Classes move fast enough to keep you engaged, but not so fast that you get lost. I also liked how practical everything is. You're not just memorizing vocabulary, you're actually learning how to speak and function in real-life situations from day one.

The teachers are excellent. They're patient, encouraging, and very good at explaining things clearly (even when the grammar gets tricky).

I definitely recommend That’s Mandarin Shanghai.

I’ve had a great experience at That’s Mandarin! This is my 4th time doing an intensive course in China and I have to say that this school’s online platform is the best! All the teachers are incredibly kind, patient and supportive. One thing that I especially appreciated is how they rotate teachers frequently, which helps students get used to different speaking styles rather than hearing just one voice. The lessons are structured yet not rigid, so we laughed a lot?! The school also offers a lot of fun and educational activities and the whole environment is super welcoming. I am sad to leave but already planning to come back in November!

I’ve been learning part-time at that’s mandarin for 4 months. And so far it’s been great. The teachers are very helpful and the online materials to review and study are also great. The school is very accessible, it’s near so many restaurants, bars and a metro station. So it’s easy to get to. My Chinese has improved so much!

I have been learning Chinese with That's Mandarin for a few months now and I'm seeing some great progress! Their method is well thought out with their own books and online system, you also get assigned teachers who tailor make a programme for speedy progress! I've been learning mandarin for a few years but never with such a good system until now. I definitely recommend you try out That's Mandarin!

I've been studying at That's Mandarin for half a year, and it's been amazing! The teachers are very patient and make learning fun, helping me grasp the basics quickly. The curriculum is well-structured, with classes for all levels. But what really stands out is like we are a family, we celebrate the holidays together as we were in our country, classmates are friendly, love everyone and love this experience. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn Chinese!

This is a great school! I’ve been here for 4 month already and gonna keep studying for 2 more. All teachers are great, they want you to study, they care about your progress and help you with troubles. I came here with 2nd level, and now I have the 4th one. I can freely speak with natives and live here. Moreover, activities that we have in school make you feel like a part of a huge family.

I’m currently taking one to one classes for several months and I had a great experience. They have a proprietary interactive online platform where your teacher can share characters and any material throughout the class, and is also great for revising, on top of other materials. Teacher is great and is helping me to work on my learnings based on my needs and own pace!

I have enrolled for weekly online private sessions. I find this a very flexible and effective platform to learn conversational Chinese. The course is customized to me so I can go at my own pace. There are after class practices and notebook to review past lessons as well.

I started studying with That's Mandarin and Teacher Wang this year, after self studying for a while. My confidence and Chinese Level is improving rapidly and I like our lessons. I do them online and the web platform works well and booking a lesson is easy and flexible, which works very well with my tight schedule and strange working hours.

This is my second year studying with Qiu Laoshi, and I'm grateful to have found a teacher who's knowledgeable as well as engaging. My Chinese has improved through chengyu and unique vocabulary that are always well-explained by my teacher, breaking it down in terms of grammar and real-world application.

My main issue while preparing for HSK 5 is thinking in English and making awkward translations rather than articulating the Chinese equivalent. I have plenty of opportunities to improve with input through listening and output through constant practice. This is made possible by unstructured time to converse about pretty much anything. Still, there's also structure since Qiu Laoshi has adapted the textbook curriculum to include interactive and immersive activities, which makes recall much easier too.

The online platform is well-designed, convenient, and makes after-class and pre-class review very seamless. I always look forward to my twice-a-week classes.

I first started learning Chinese with That’s Mandarin back in 2017 at their Beijing campus. It was my first real exposure to the language, and their immersive, engaging teaching style helped me quickly pick up the basics. After returning to my home country, my Chinese skills got a bit rusty—but I was thrilled to reconnect with the school when I returned to Shanghai for my MBA.

Picking up lessons again with That’s Mandarin has been a fantastic experience. The lesson topics are not only interesting but also highly relevant— covering social issues, current events, and consumer / industry insights tailored to my line of work. That's Mandarin 1-on-1 is just perfect for me as I need to travel frequently and the school is fully flexible to adjust my schedule accordingly. The course content is very helpful for mastering typical real life situations in modern China and the online and offline learning material is well designed and motivating. My teacher Na Ren adapts very well to my learning progress and requirements and is an excellent support. I fully recommend That's Mandarin to everyone who wants to learn modern Chinese.
