We were with Hastings for many years
We were with Hastings for many years, felt this year that the rise in the price was of our renewal was just to much, check a couple of places, and the AA appeared to be the best deal for us. We left Hastings and went with the AA, only a short time after telling Hasting we would not be renewing our car insurance with them, the emailed me to say they could drop the renewal price by over £200, I said no thank you, and how come you quoted over £500, and then when I told them we were leaving, they were able to drop the price by £200? No answer to that one. Even with the breakdown cover, all that we had with Hastings, the AA bettered that by £200. Shop around, no sense in being a long and loyal customer I'm thinking. Everything went well, easy to setup online, and we feel that we have a great deal with the AA.

Hidden insurance costs
I initially went to the site browsing for car insurance. When I looked at the AA site I had just put in a random start date and a reasonable price came up.
I decided to go with that and started filling my details in and stating a start date. When I got to the end a price came up several hundred pounds more than initially quoted. I entered another date and the same thing happened. Eventually I entered a date a week ahead and the price dropped by several hundred pounds and this is what I went for. The result is I got the cover I wanted but have not been able to use the car this wek. This is not open business ethics but deliberat trickery
