Had a terrible experience with my last order and sadly won't be purchasing from them again.
It started to get loads of gravel and stones in the coal. Then I had coal with a bit of wire fence and a door latch inside the coal itself!!!!
The final p!££ take was that it was so wet that black sludge was coming out of the bags and it was all 50 bags.
I have bought a better brand that comes dry and when removing the Ash, it is Ash not gravel and stones I could repair pot holes with. P.S the stones sometimes explode inside the fire.

Dreadful, I had 25 bags delivered, im now half way through this its Dreadful. Soaking wet and mainly wet slack . Never buy from them again AVOID AVOID AVOID

Very good experience would highly recommend.

50 bags of newburn. The first 8 bags opened were half full of wet slack. The rest of the coal was soaking wet covered in particles of wet slack. The delivery was on time and the driver was very helpful dropping it off right outside our shed. I don't hold much hope for the rest of the bags with what I seen so far. I think next year it's time for a change of supplier.

UPDATE ON NEWBURN BRIQUETTES NOW THE FIRST BAG HAS BEEN OPENED.
Like another reviewer posted and strangely about the same product.... I opened the first bag today some 6 days after delivery. The bags have been stored under cover.
The contents are soaking wet and covered in wet claggy dust........I have had 'coal' (call it what you will these days) from other suppliers and none of them have been as wet or covered in claggy wet 'dust' as this is. Maybe it adds to the 'weight....more water less coal?...and it looks like I'm not the only one who has received soaking wet product. Clearly the supplier is doing nothing to rectify the complaints/comments.
Like the other customer who posted I will be looking elsewhere for my supplies in future.

Apalling service apart from the ladies who answered my phone calls who were apologetic and understanding.
The Coal Shop lays out a whole raft of things 'the customer' must do regarding delivery. It's a pity they can't give the customer the same consideration. My order was placed on a Sunday so therefore it met their 'Monday' placement for delivery around ...'Aim to deliver 3-5 working days' they say. By Thursday mid day there was 'no communication' of any kind, no email, no phone call. 'I called' and was told my order was 'out for delivery'. Friday no communication until again 'I called'. Apparently my order was 'with the delivery depot' and should be with me on Monday.

I received a call (first communication coming from The Coal Shop) telling my my order was sitting on a brokem pallet in the carriers yard waiting for someone to decide what to do with it!!!!
I anticipated delivery on Monday BUT NO. Eventually the order arrived mid day on Wednesday totally unannounced. No email or phone call whatsoever to confirm delivery from either The Coal Shop or the 'carrier'. ....How were we supposed to ensure someone was available to accept the delivery as per their very 'strict' instructions?

The Coal Shop is very explicit about what the customer must do regarding delivery but in this instance has shown not an ounce of customer care for what one of their TrustPilot review respondents called a 'Premium Delivery Service'.

Can I recommend The Coal Shop.....Based this experience no I can not, not if you want reliable communication and a delivery service that actually communicates and doesn't deliver totally unannounced.

Easy to place the order, very reasonable prices though confusing not knowing what difference is between coal products if they advertise exactly the same thing.
Last year coal burnt quickly but this year’s batch is excellent-plenty of heat and burning slower.
I had two half-ton deliveries so far from this company and every delivery was timely and the delivery drivers were both super helpful and offloaded all the bags for me, even stacking them up properly in the designated place, for which I’m very grateful.

When I have had to telephone before and after I ordered the ladies that answer are a credit to this company and delivery driver was so good turning in our yard unlike anyone else. Have found the Newburn really good staying in all night and only leaving ash unlike coal used from other companies. The cheaper value one has a lot of coal dust and wouldnt order this again.

Coal delivery men refused to carry coal up 4 steps for my disabled mum, dumped coal in middle of drive so she couldn't park at home, had to get neighbours to carry it to coal house so that she could get into her house. Terrible service will not use again

Dealing with the Coal Shop. Was such an easy time. There were no problems with any of the service. Will definitely use them again.

Easy to order. Bought the coal in September taking advantage of the big discount. Wouldn't have done so otherwise. Bargain. Thank-you.

Value for money when compared to other suppliers, delieverd within a short period of ordering.

The delivery driver was very plesent and put the coal where I needed it to be I didn't get he's name sorry about that but meny thanks

Great quality products and usually at a reasonable price. Try to order your fuel in August/September to take advantage of the lower prices.

I ordered smokeless coal, and logs. Both were in great condition, packaged well, dry, and delivered to the doorstep.
Both light easily, and burn well, giving off a good amount of heat.

This is the second year we have used The Coal Shop after fantastic service and fuel last year. We bought 1 tonne of wood and 1 tonne of coal again because it was superb. The split logs are actually logs (not scraps) and burn really well (with a firelighter we don't need to use kindling which is great!). We took advantage of the 10pc off offer and although the total was pretty much £1000, we are happy to pay for actual quality rather than pay a bit less, and be disappointed. Delivery was later than expected but when I called to query this, the customer service was great and they offered the tracking number and an estimated arrival (they had even emailed to let us know it was delayed, which is great customer service). Only slight negative was that we weren't contacted about a delivery day or time, as promised, and it was only luck that someone was in to receive it. Delivery driver was friendly and made a huge effort to navigate the truck to a point it would be dropped where we needed it, which was both really appreciated and helpful. Would absolutely recommend (and have to friends), and will certainly use them again next year. They could maybe send fewer marketing emails though!
