The masks arrived very quickly

The masks arrived very quickly, they were in date and don't expire until 2029. They didn't use excessive packaging like other companies tend to do, just a box that was the perfect size for the product.

I recently called customer services to…

I recently called customer services to order a pack of masks and was told that the item I wished to order was being sold at one pence only for clearance. I was amazed that they were only charging one pence! They told me they wanted to 'get rid of' the masks. Unfortunately I was unable to place the order as I was told their system was down and was advised to call back in the morning which I did. Low and behold they then charged me the full price for the masks plus delivery charge. I remonstrated with them that only the evening before I'd been told the the pack of masks were being sold for one pence due to stock clarence and needing to 'get rid' of them and that I had been told to call back in the morning because their system was down, but they refused to honour the clearance price and insisted that I pay the full price. I am a long-standing customer and have been treated very badly. It was poor customer service to not honour the clearance price, particularly as I had been unable through no fault of my own to place an order with them the evening before. If they wanted to 'get rid (clearance), of' the item the day before why did they suddenly no longer want to get 'rid 'of it the very next morning? That sounds fishy to me and not very honest.
I don't feel inclined to place an order with them again if they treat their customers in this way. It's disappointing as I've been ordering from them for years and up till now have never had cause to complain.

Items inconsistent and arrived loose…

Items inconsistent and arrived loose and damaged. Contacted 3M who said The Face Mask Store is not one of their authorised distributors and should not be selling 3M masks that are for the medical industry nor ones that are made or for the Asian market. They will refund you but make no apology nor make any changes to their products or packaging. They should not be sold loose or in any way crushed or bent, this could impact the performance. Not convinced that all their 3M stock is genuine, unless it's the appalling way they store and ship them to you. For respiratory protection I've had to go via the 3M list of authorised distributors to know they're genuine and though not as 'cheap' as The Face Mask Store the quality and shipping is way better, plus you have the reassurance the products are genuine.
Their website reviews must be screened as there was no way to leave a review and they claim 100% for shipping, damages etc, this isn't true. I know people that have had the same issues with damaged or lack of confidence in the genuine nature of stock. It's such a shame as they were the go to place for PPE/Masks and information. They have a great website, staff that don't know very much about the products they sell and seem completely apathetic when you call with concerns.

Regarding Product Authenticity:

I can assure you that all 3M masks we supply are 100% genuine. While we are not a direct distributor with 3M, we purchase exclusively through 3M's authorised distribution channels in the UK. This is standard practice in the industry - most retailers operate this way.

Earlier this year, we purchased clearance 3M Aura from Arco, one of the UK's largest and most reputable PPE suppliers and an authorised 3M distributor. We maintain a strict purchasing policy to ensure authenticity across all our 3M products.

Our client base includes the NHS, UK Police Forces, UK Fire Stations, private dental practices, and the BBC - organisations that conduct rigorous due diligence on their suppliers. We've earned their continued trust precisely because of our commitment to genuine products.

We've also created a comprehensive 3M authenticity guide (something even 3M themselves haven't produced) to help customers verify their products.

Regarding Packaging:

Selling individual masks is entirely acceptable when they are individually sealed, which all of ours are. There are no manufacturer restrictions on selling single units in this manner. However, I sincerely apologise that your items arrived damaged. This is not acceptable, and we should have packaged them more securely for transit.

Regarding Reviews:

We absolutely do not screen or filter reviews - this goes against everything we stand for as a business. Our 800+ five-star Trustpilot reviews are genuine and unfiltered. I'm sorry you experienced difficulty leaving feedback.

Regarding Customer Service:

I'm disappointed to hear your experience with our team didn't meet expectations. We pride ourselves on product knowledge and customer care, and your feedback will be addressed internally.

We've processed your refund as requested. While we stand firmly behind the authenticity and quality of our products, we clearly fell short on the shipping and customer service experience in your case, and for that I apologise.

Honestly blown away by the service. Patrick was amazing — friendly, super helpful, and got my order sorted in no time. He really went the extra mile, which you don’t see often these days. Don’t bother signing up for out of stock items

The first time I ordered was great, that’s because they had the stock…

I was on the list for an email when another mask was back in stock. I received the email at 15:51, and purchased the same day at 20:59. I received an email confirming purchase, an email confirming dispatch the next day and an email thanking me for purchase. A couple of hours later on day two I get an email telling me I can’t purchase the items, would I like a substitute or get a refund? These masks are for very young children. You cannot purchase them for a reasonable price besides this website in the UK: on eBay and similar platforms they are priced at extortionate prices.

I asked the company how they had sold out in 5 hours and they simply said they had sold out: they gave no information about restock times, the especially high demand, whether I needed to sign up again for alerts, and they didn’t try to explain the unusual circumstance to their customer. I cannot fathom that they are so popular in 2025 in the UK that the entire shipment sold out in 5 hours.

Not a good company to deal with.

After investigating what happened, we discovered an internal error that caused the masks to appear in our inventory even though we had already sold out. As a result, your order was inadvertently accepted but couldn’t be fulfilled.

We understand how important it is to get the right-sized masks for very young children at a fair price, and we’re sorry we let you down. Your full refund has already been processed and should appear in your account shortly. Unfortunately, because this is a very niche item with limited supply, we don’t have an immediate substitute to offer.

Outstanding at correcting mistakes

Everyone makes mistakes. This company originally sent me the wrong box of masks. Fair enough - that happens. But it's how they put things right that distinguishes a good company.

They found that I don't have a printer so can't print my own labels, and that I am disabled so it isn't easy for me to get to a post office (I can, but have to arrange a lift). So they sent me a box of replacement masks with a pre-printed return label in it, and arranged for Royal Mail to collect the erroneous box from my house. I could really not ask for better service. They actually thought about it and tailored things to my needs, rather than giving me a boilerplate response. I am exceedingly impressed.

Stock-free waste of time

Seemingly they have no stock of any reusable or washable face masks, which you discover by repeatedly clicking on the images of different models and sets only to be asked when the item page loads after a delay, whether you want to be informed via email when it comes back into stock. After finding this out the hard way with 8 or so different models I was losing the will to live and gave up. How hard can it be to say under the photos of the items "in stock" or "out of stock" or "low stock" like a proper online retailer, to save fruitless journeys around the site? Just a complete waste of my time and effort.
