Met Alex today and from start to finish was a great experience. Alex was professional, thorough, honest and very knowledgeable. He explained his findings and showed me every hallmark on my items. The price quoted was higher than other dealers such as Gold Arthur and when I accepted the offer, the payment was transferred into my account immediately. I would not hesitate to recommend Alex and will definitely be using him again in the future.

I had a gold charm bracelet with gold charms that I collected throughout the years from different countries and Alex was very professional and honest with the valuation. He had to remove each charm from the bracelet in order to do the valuation, he showed me under the magnifying glass the hallmarks and tested the others in from of me as some of the charms were 22ct, 14ct and 9ct gold. I was pleasantly surprised and delighted by the price I was offered!! Thank you for your very professional service and I can 100% recommend using Alex for your valuations.

I met Lindsay at my local Community Centre after seeing The Gold Standards visit advertised by the Centre. Firstly having had some experience in the jewellery trade I was very impressed with the standard of instruments she had brought with her. To see hallmarks made so legible on a screen was literally an 'eye opener' Lindsay was very informative knowledgable and helpful and at no time did I feel pressurised in any way. A very fair price was agreed on and I was shown proof of it reaching my bank account almost immediately. I can wholeheartly recommend The Gold Standard to anybody wishing to sell their unworn gold platinium or silver...especially if you are worried about being 'scammed'. I was. Ery pleased to have dealt with The Gold Standard, so much so that I am taking some more items in at their next visit in September.

After years of putting off sorting through my unused jewellery, I saw an advertisement saying The Gold Standard would be in my local village hall. I missed the session by half an hour so messaged to find out where they would be next. Alex called me almost straight away and after a follow-up email we arranged a time to meet in a neutral place. I was a bit dubious because the ad looked like most other businesses in the industry and I’ve not heard positive things about gold/silver buyers but what else was I going to do with stuff I no longer wore.

I went along with my husband and Alex was warm, friendly but to the point. He uses a magnifying screen so that we could see exactly what he was seeing when there was and wasn’t a hallmark. If there was no hallmark he tested the metal in front of us. He painstakingly went through bags of items that I was unsure what and wasn’t silver and gold etc. At the end he weighed everything and based on current value he gave a fair and competitive price (based on my husband’s own research). The bank transfer happened in front of us and we both left having no doubts we had done the right thing and sold our metal to a genuine and honest person. Thank you to Alex for changing our perception based on others bad experiences elsewhere. Neither of us will hesitate to contact you again when we have gone through other items we have and are ready to sell. It’s good to know Alex is local and an independent business too.

I went to see Alex with some jewellery which I had inherited and had no idea about whether the items were actually gold or not. He was very knowledgeable and could show me the hallmarks enlarged on a screen as they were held under a magnifying glass and what they meant. I could see what he could see so I knew I wasn’t being conned! He offered me a fair price and I only didn’t sell as I’m not yet sure what I want to do with the pieces I have.
