Tessa restored my wife’s very well worn…
Tessa restored my wife’s very well worn Prada bag to look just like new. She showed me some examples of her work, and was able to completely remove the stains and scuffing on the corners of the bag. I would recommend Tessa and The Seam for any handbag repairs.
Excellent service and seamless process
I've had multiple items repaired and altered by the Seam, and have been very happy every time! In particular thank you Ji K and Seamus M for their work on an overshirt and a pair of broken sunglasses 😎
The Seam
I had a pair of jeans which had ripped and I heard about The Seam from a friend. I was matched with Maker Louise, who talked me through the process and provided me with an excellent quality of repair. Jeans came back looking brand new!
Go direct to a Maker
I can leave a fair assessment of The Seam having used the service to recondition five pieces of clothing/shoes and spending over £600 on repairs. My experience was good for the first four items. The services aren’t cheap and this is because The Seam is a market place which connects you with makers and charges a 20% fee which is passed onto the customer.
The problem came when I had an issue with a maker in St Albans, Annalisa Monti. My partner needed the zip on an Antony Morato jacket repaired or replaced. Initially Annalisa took the jacket to assess and told me the zip was broken and it would need a new zip. She then told me the zips were custom and could not find zips to replace it, but she had managed to fix it. My partner and I went to collect the jacket. When we collected the jacket, we discovered Annalisa had not repaired the jacket, as soon as we tried the zip the jacket it moved out of alignment and stuck. We were left confused about what we had paid for. We should have taken the jacket and left, but wanted to have it fixed and asked if she could source similar zips and replace the front zip and match the pocket zips. Annalisa said she could and then sent photos later of a like for like zip which we agreed to use. Weeks later I received a message saying work was done with an image of the jacket repaired and with new zips that were cheap bronze and not a matt grey like for like zip that she had sent in a photo.
When I contacted The Seam, I received a disappointing waffly email back that sat on the fence and stated the Maker had poor communication.
In fact, the Maker had: -
1 – Initially lied about repairing the jacket
2 – Disregarded the zips we approved and put a different zip on.
To add insult to injury this whole process of dropping my partners jacket into Annalisa and to picking it up took 1.5 months and nearly 2 weeks to receive my refund.
I would say providing there are no issues this service works, I am not clear how much vetting goes into the Makers on the site as The Seam grows. I had asked that question and had not received an answer.
My advice is do your research yourself and go direct to a seamstress/cobbler, you will save 20% and if there are any issues you can deal directly with the person looking after your repair.

Miu Miu bag restored
Tessa repaired my Miu Miu bag in December. The bag was around 15 years old and the handle had split, the leather on the outer flap was cracked and the lining had seen better days. I didn’t use the bag because it looked so battered. The bag was returned to me like new. Communication throughout was great. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Tessa or the Seam again for any repair projects.

I heard about this company on Radio 4…
I heard about this company on Radio 4 program "Gap finders". I immediately thought of a ski jacket which I've had in the wardrobe for 3 years with a broken zip. It is a nice coat, only used few weeks when the zip broke. I tried in various ways to have it mended (incl UK manufacturer) but no one would do it. I posted the job on The Seam- got an naser back within a day- agreed a price - sent it on a Friday and got it back on Tuesday morning. It is like new- you cannot see that it has been repaired. The price was a 10th of the cost of the coat. Thank you to the maker Krasimbira

Love the idea, nice interaction , but… service unaffordable for me, probably another service for the wealthy and not accessible to working classes ☹️
After leaving my review felt really uncomfortable by approaches made by Layla and employees asking me to retract , all too much. Wish I’d never approached seam or left review.

Loved the idea, booked a repair and sent off my Brora trousers to be altered. The Post Office tried to deliver but was unable to - presumably left a card and kept the parcel for 18 days before returning it as the maker did not collect it. The repair was shown as being “in progress” on the website so I had assumed that the maker had received it and was working on it.Not the fault of the Post Office for once - so all rather a disappointing waste of postage. Customer service was hopeless and just suggested suing the Post Office. More work is required if this excellent idea is to fly. Following this review, the owner called to say what she was going to do to fix the problem...which she proceeded to do. So i can't help but recommend the company despite the less than perfect initial experience. Having received a faultless service second time around with a first rate repaid, I am very happy. Really good customer service.

Alteration of Cos trousers waist band by Hannah S from The Seam.
I used The Seam to alter the waist band of a pair of new Cos linen trousers which fitted well everywhere else except they were a bit tight on the waist band. I am absolutely thrilled with results. Hannah S was the maker who did the alteration and she did an amazing job! And it didn’t cost too much either. You can’t tell that they have been altered. She is a very skilled seamstress. I would highly recommend her and will definitely use her again!
