You’ve written your stuff, you’ve researched about publishing, and now you must choose one from the many self-publishers listed on Google.
UK Book Publishing was on a shortlist of four publishers I contacted through their websites. One didn’t reply at all. One sent a copy-and-paste reply with a grammatical error, and two sent very nice personal responses. Of those two, I chose UK Book Publishing based upon the details and ease of using their website, and their Google and Trustpilot reviews.
I was very nervous, but I have no regrets.
From that first hesitant contact, Ruth and Jay have been the best support, and I have now received the good quality copies of my book, and seen the listing of “No Blue Lights” on Amazon.
At the start I had no idea about what the task involved, but Ruth and Jay have led me by the nose through each step in a way I understood, with good humour and warmth. There has been no pressure, yet they have been very swift to answer all my daft questions, giving me time to think carefully and consult with family.
Completing the project could have been very quick if I had chosen, but I wanted to take my time, and they were sympathetic to that. Everything has been done by email which has suited me well.
I am totally uncreative but, from scratch, Jay produced half a dozen different designs for the cover, advising me what could and couldn’t be used, which he was happy for me to tweak until it was just right.
Ruth proofread the whole lot and taught me how to use track changes on Word which was a revelation! And her blurb was far better than anything I could have produced.
I admit that when it arrived, the on-screen PDF of the layout was difficult to visualise in book form. There were a couple of changes I proposed, one of which couldn’t happen and another which could. All this was explained to me clearly and kindly.
When I was satisfied, I hit the Go button and within three days my proof copy arrived.
It was wonderful! Better than I could have imagined. This is my story. This is my book.
Again, no pressure, just time to enjoy it before confirming go ahead, and 24 hours later up pops the listing on Amazon, ready to circulate to anyone and everyone, worldwide.
The only caveat and, I emphasise, it is the same with every publisher, is that it is quite an expensive business. UK Book Publishing have been up front, however, spreading the financial load out over the process which is a relief, and there have been no hidden extras.
UK Book Publishing could not have been any better.
Would I recommend them? Without hesitation.

If you want your book available to purchase with minimal fuss in a gorgeous, professionally typeset layout, you have found your company.

Having been scammed by the company impersonating them in the past, I was somewhat sceptical about using UK Book Publishing. However, my doubts were quickly put to rest by the honest conversation I had with the staff on the phone. From the manuscript proof to the cover design, I was very impressed throughout.

As with all self-publishing, you wont become a millionaire overnight but you can get your hard work and dedication available to purchase for the world to buy. All in as little as around 3-4 months.

Tips for you:

Use a proofreading software of some kind before submitting your manuscript to save yourself and the hard-working staff time when it comes to reviewing it. You'd be amazed at the little things you get wrong when you're 70k+ words into your story.

Don't worry about typsetting or formatting the page sizes, etc., as this will be done for you.

Have faith in the cover design process. It came out way better than I expected.

Temper expectations. They aren't Harper Collins or Penguin, but you'd think they were undoubtedly one of the big ones, given the quality of the end product.

Don't worry about a cover letter or synopsis; you aren't trying to convince another person that your work is worth investing in. It is a self-publishing process with professional assistance.

In the end, through the processes of Nielsen and Amazon, people across the world will be able to purchase the story you painstakingly translated onto paper.

They take no percentage of your royalties and respond to all dilemmas and queries quickly. I'd recommend them to anyone wanting to begin their writing career who can't break through into the traditional process of convincing a literary agent to forward your work to a publisher.

I would happily recommend them to anyone who wants to self-publish.

I did a lot of research before choosing UK Publishing to publish my collection of art and poetry. I visited 9 other publishing busimesses over 6 or 7 months. So glad I chose UK Book Publishing. I gave them a manuscript. they proof read it. Formated it into a printable format and into Kindle. They designed the cover and organised the print. Now you can walk into more or less any book shop in the world and order my book, Chocolate Coated Piranha. I have also just recieved my first royalty payment collected by them.

if you want to publish a book don't think for a minute you can do it all yourself.
It makes much more sense to concentrate on writing your book and let someone else design the cover and help with the typesetting for instance.
