Disappointing pay cuts for therapists in a cost-of-living crisis
I am writing this to highlight the recent, deeply unfair changes Urban has made to therapist earnings. For years, many dedicated therapists helped build this platform, often working under the understanding of a 70% commission structure. Now, Urban has decided to significantly reduce this share.
The justification—that therapists must earn less to "support the platform"—is hard to accept when prices in London are rising rapidly. It is mathematically impossible to understand how a professional should be receiving less now than they were 5 years ago while the cost of living and travel has skyrocketed.
Urban claims to value its "Pros," but cutting the take-home pay of the people who actually provide the service shows a lack of respect for their expertise and loyalty.

David helped me with an ongoing lower back issue and suggested stretches that I now do every morning and the pain has gone! Really miraculous thank you!

Professional did not attend and did not communicate.

It was nice to have a massage at home, the massage therapist was very skilled, she had all the equipment - even music. Definitely something I will be doing again. One note - you do need the space for the table but also for the therapist to move around.

Was a little hesitant on how good the therapists would be but they were great! Urban clearly hires experienced professionals who also work outside in spas and with private clients. Whether this can compare to a massage in a nice spa though depends on how relaxing you can make your home environment but five stars for the convenience of them coming to you!

Always happy with my massage sessions. The added bonus is that I dont need to face the outside world after a relaxing massage :)

Had the best sports massage ever!

Urban has just cut therapists’ pay by around 20%, blaming it on “rising global costs”.

Meanwhile thousands of therapists already give nearly half of their fee to the platform just to be able to work. Taking even more from the people who actually provide the service is simply shameful.
If you are booking a massage through Urban, maybe take a moment to think whether you really want to support this kind of exploitation. Therapists are the ones doing the work, yet they are the ones constantly paying the price.

If you want to book a therapist, there are many other platforms and ways to do it.
