I am extremely disappointed with U-Teach. I, like many others purchased a lifetime deal through AppSumo that the company did not honor. On 12/1/24, I received an email letting me know that my plan will be significantly downgraded. This is extremely disappointing that the company did not honor it's commitment.

Update on 12/6/24: Reply to U-teach: I didn't say it was cancelled. I said it was downgraded, which is the truth. Your new "plan" does not honor the original agreement.

I purchased an early adopter lifetime subscription of Uteach with a set of legal Terms & Conditions including lifetime access to Uteach and all future Pro Plan updates.

Then they emailed all of their early adopters and severely castrated each of their plans saying that they can no longer support them. This has been the usual playbook for an increasingly large number of startups that want to get rid of the legal promises made to their early adopters. In my case my account went from 5 administrator level users down to 1, unlimited courses down to only 3, and no transaction fees to a 10% fee on all sales. Barely more than what would be considered a free plan.

Shame on you, Uteach. No wonder you have such a low overall rating on Trust Pilot.

A company that goes back on their founding promise, betraying their early users, is a company that cannot be trusted. They have essentially stolen from us without remorse or repentance. If you are considering a subscribing to the service, I would highly advise you to find a company that is more trustworthy and that honors their deals.

Bait and switch at its best. Sell a one time payment license only to cancel it a couple or years later without refunding the one time payment. This is theft from a saas. I can't recommend uteach at all after this unethical move by the company.

Edit* I have requested a refund for the lifetime deal as the business has changed its terms making this deal not the same one I paid for.

Edit** They are doing nothing to fix this. So my review stands. They are a bad company to do business with. I can't use it as I am getting a refund from Appsumo and you unilaterally changed the features as set out by your sales page. You want me to pay you a 10% commission now, you limit my admin users, my students and courses making this not the same product as I purchased. When you make these changes Appsumo agreed that this is a change in sales contract and gave a refund. When will you own up and do the same?

Uteach decided to make a money grab for all the Appsumo lifetime deal buyers and now remove all of our features. The response is to copy and paste a response and say, "We're sorry you're out of luck." This is bad business and not right at all. Stay far away from Uteach and find a more honest company that fits your LMS needs.

Sadly. This company when a start up offered an opportunity to get a lifetime deal. They got a great cash injection. They just revoked that. And to be fair they are a clunky and not good looking site. And they for at least us life time customers (soon to be ex) just made it impossible to really use.

I’d exercise caution with companies that change the deal without thinking about the customers as they aren’t thinking about the customers. And if their product isn’t selling they need to look at why. Instead of taking more money from people who have already paid.

Uteach has proven to be highly untrustworthy. They took advantage of the trust and platform of AppSumo to grow their business but are now betraying Lifetime Deal (LTD) buyers by significantly altering the original terms. The LTD initially promised unlimited students, courses, quizzes, and zero fees. However, they are now imposing severe limitations: only 1,000 users, 5 quizzes, 3 courses, and a 10% commission on every sale. This kind of behavior is unethical and unfair to their early supporters. Changing the deal after the purchase is deceptive and completely unacceptable.

I bought a lifetime deal on Appsumo and just now they decided to ditch it and switch to a subscription only based model. What kinda scam is this? A lifetime deal for 1 year only... stay away from this shady business.

Not a trustworthy company. They have sold lifetime licences a couple of years ago to support their operations and then decided to cancel them. Stay away from this scamming company.

I purchased Uteach on AppSumo in late 2022, with the promise of a lifetime deal—a cornerstone selling point. Fast forward to now, and Uteach has decided to revoke that promise and transition to a subscription-based model, effectively invalidating the agreement that early adopters like myself trusted and paid for.

The email announcing this decision is incredibly tone-deaf. While Uteach claims to "thank" its AppSumo supporters, they’re essentially dissing the very customers who helped them survive and grow. Instead of honoring their commitments, Uteach is breaking their word, offering only a deeply limited version of the service I paid for, and dangling a “generous” 20% discount as a way to upsell their subscription plans.

The bottom line: How can you trust a company that doesn’t honor its deals? Uteach’s actions reflect a blatant disregard for their most loyal customers, and there are plenty of better, more trustworthy alternatives available in the market. Avoid this company if you value integrity and reliability.

I purchased a lifetime deal for Uteach some time ago. It was still an immature product at the time, but I saw promise and wanted to invest in their future.

Since then, I've seen many of their improvements only be available for their monthly subscribers, effectively locking me out of the future I'd invested in. I also heard reports that the platform was slow to use and had some bugs.

Then today, Uteach emailed all lifetime users and told us they were getting rid of the lifetime tier. Instead, they would be moving us to a variation of their free tier with only 3 courses, 1000 students, and 10% commission (vs. the unlimited courses and students and 0% commission they promised originally).

This is a clear violation of the deal terms. If they can't honor their own promises, how can I trust them with my original content? My recommendation - stay far away.

I purchased a lifetime deal from this company, and two years later I get an email telling me that they, with heavy hearts will convert my already paid lifetime deal to a monthly subscription plan instead.

So in reality, I got a two year trial. Very shady practice and I would advise people to stay away.

So I paid for something in advance, and you changed the deal. I do NOT recommend anyone to buy anything from a company doing bait and switch!

Ich habe eine "Lifetime-Lizenz" gekauft, knapp 300 Dollar dafür ausgegeben, und nach etwas mehr als zwei Jahren heißt es, man würde die "Lifetime-Lizenzen einstellen" und ab jetzt müsste ich monatlich zahlen.

Monatliche Zahlungen sind für eine gute Software prinzipiell okay, aber es ist nicht okay, für eine "Lebenslange Lizenz" viel Geld zu bezahlen wenn das Versprochene dann nicht geliefert wird.

Die Strategie ist offensichtlich: Sobald genügend Menschen mit "Lifetime-Lizenzen" Ihre Kurse aufgebaut haben und damit eine gewisse Abhängigkeit haben dreht man einfach die Geldschraube hoch und ignoriert vorherige Versprechlungen, in der Hoffnung daß die meisten lieber mehr bezahlen als die Platform zu wechseln.

Auf mich wirkt es anders: Ich verliere vertrauen, bei so einer Firmenpolitik auf das Tool zu bauen und auch die Kontaktdaten meiner Kunden dort zu hinterlassen.

Update:
Theire "Clarification" says, they would keep the Lifetime-Licenses. That´s an optimistic perspective: They limited the paid Lifetime-Licenses, cut out many promised limits and the license is not usable anymore: I bought a car and they offer me a bicycle.

UTeach is a bait and switch. We purchased a plan from AppSumo and were told that certain things would be applied to our plan. Then every month after we purchased the plan UTeach changed the plan - charging us more money each time. Buyer beware.

This has been by far the greatest experience, and the most life-changing company I have ever dealt with. I’d like to give a special thanks to Julia for making my dreams come a reality. They go above and beyond the call of duty and accommodate to all of your needs. Don’t waste your time looking around because this company is the real deal.

Learn than ever

There are many features of the website builder that are below par, and it is very buggy. It is very hard or even impossible to create custom forms which has been a pretty big problem for me. Unfortunately, customer service has not been very helpful, probably because I have run into so many bugs and problems that they are not able to sufficiently help which has been very disappointing. Because of these bugs, incomplete features, and unhelpful customer service, the website I thought would take a week or two to build, is still not done 3 months later.

I love how intuitive Uteach is. I've never even seen an application like this before and I was able to quickly start a course in under a minute. I can make changes to my course in real time and see the results as soon as I hit submit. The course publishing technology behind this tool is top-notch and it's great to see it being used by so many people. I love that Uteach gives me access to every single part of my course, including the students' progress.

It's very user-friendly and perfect for those new to LMS platforms, like myself. It has all the features I need without being too complicated. The interface is clean and intuitive. Tutorials from YouTube help me understand how it works, and setup is easier. Additionally, it includes a mobile app and CRM.
