We traveled to Tanzania for our first ever safari and had the experience of a lifetime! Wilderness was definitely the best host we could have asked for. From the time we left the plane they helped us every step of the way. The camp was amazing and the sincere and caring staff made everything perfect! Our guide was Hassan and he was an incredible person. We will never forget the experiences we had with him and with Tanzania. We also lost a phone during our trip and it ended to being located far from where we were at the time. Hasan went out of his way to contact the locator and arrange a return and the wilderness staff helped get it on a plane a delivered to us before we left Africa! This trip could only have been better if we had been able to stay even longer. Thank you Wilderness!

This trip was probably a once in a lifetime experience and it couldn’t have been more perfect! Our stay in Cape Town at Kensington Place and our excellent guide (Ashraaf) set the tone. Then on to Little Vumbura with our guide, Bonno, and Wilderness Savuti with guide Kevin. We covered a great deal of territory, saw a huge number of animals, stayed in excellent accommodations and were treated to great hospitality throughout. Our hotel in Victoria Falls, Mbano Manor, was beautiful and the staff could not have been more skilled or attentive. We’ve already recommended Wilderness to other friends and, should we be fortunate enough to do another such trip, we would certainly book wth your company again. Thank you so much for a truly amazing experience!

My wife and I used Wilderness to plan and book our trip to Rwanda to see the gorillas. The booking itself was easy and Michael helped us to make the right decisions for our trip. The trip went flawlessly from start to finish in spite of some flight changes and other unexpected changes outside of our control and we were able to get help quickly from Wilderness while in Rwanda. Our guide John was absolutely wonderful and made the drives fly by with his knowledge and stories about the local culture and history. He really enhanced every aspect of our trip while we were there. We stayed at the Bishop House which was the perfect respite after trekking -- wonderful service, great food, and beautiful grounds with a pool. It goes without saying that the experience with the gorillas was truly unforgettable. Overall, nothing but positive things to say about the trip and Wilderness did an amazing job planning it all for us.

In August 2026, we were at 3 Wilderness camps: Jacana in the Okavango Delta, Kulala in Sossusvlei Nambia, and Desert Rhino in Damaraland. Lodgings at all three were great and the staffs were unfailingly helpful, accommodating and courteous. Our safari guides were 5* fabulous. The lunch and dinner food was good at Kulala and Desert Rhino, but at Jacana it was seriously lacking. Though the kitchen staff threw their hearts and souls into it--including a lovely outdoor dinner, the quality came up short. The "rib-eye" they served outdoors was thin, difficult to cut through and almost impossible to chew, due to the gristle. Some dishes other days tasted like leftovers. Other dishes were good, and we don't expect gourmet at a camp, but the lack of quality was notable here.

The trip planning and game experience was excellent. The lodges started off more rustic and was arranged such that the last lodge had the greatest amenities. There was something special about each location and we had a wonderful time.

Wonderful lodge places in an incredible place. Service and tenta are amazing. Personnel really kind and helpful. Safaris were really nice with a guide who know very well the territory giving incrediblea memories

We were met at Kigali International Airport by our driver guide for the next 5 days by name of Benjamin. He was very punctual in collecting our group from the hotels. He was very polite and smartly dressed. He was v knowledgeable in various aspects of Rwanda, the bird life, gorillas etc. He also sorted our permits and always had the paperwork to hand including copies of our passports. Thus saved us carrying them.
He was easy to talk to and fun to have around. Always had a smile on his face.
He was one of the best guides I have had in several.safaris that I have done.
Look forward to booking my next Rwanda Safari with him through Wilderness!!

Booking this tour was the best decision we made. Our guide was an absolute gem with an immense wealth of knowledge that brought every destination to life. We learned so much about the country's rich history and vibrant culture. Beyond being an expert guide, Benjamin was a fantastic entertainer. His passion for Rwanda is contagious. He didn't just show us the sights; he gave us a beautiful, rhythmic introduction to the heart of the country. He also worked seamlessly with the head office to make last minute changes in plan and addition of tours. What made the experience truly magical was Benjamin’s singing and entertainment—they kept our spirits high and made the long drives feel like a celebration! We went to 2 camps in Botswana (Savuti and Little Vumbura) plus Vic Falls in Zimbabwe. The Wilderness team was excellent throughout. From game viewing to accommodation to food to special touches, we would provide top marks to the company. They make sure you are well cared for every step.

We travelled to Rwanda for a safari and to see the gorillas. Wilderness looked after us throughout, from the collection at Kigali airport to our return back. Peterson was our dedicated driver between all locations, but he was much more than that. He was welcoming, knowledgeable and helped with any queries or requests. The locations, trackers, guides and staff were exceptional. The food was outstanding. Magashi camp and Sabyinyo lodge were amazing and we were made so welcome, nothing was too much. I cannot rate Wilderness highly enough and we have come home with the most wonderful memories of our time in Rwanda.

Everything was incredible. The lodge, the team, the vegetarian food, our guide, the scenery, the wildlife--all of gets a 10 out 10!!

Qorokwe is truly a special place. From the moment you arrive, there is an incredible sense of peace and connection with nature. The setting is breathtaking, but it is the attention to detail and the quality of the experience that really sets it apart.
A special mention has to go to Moni, whose massages were absolutely divine. Having a massage on the balcony, surrounded by the sounds of rustling leaves, hippos, baboons and the gentle rhythm of the bush, is an experience I will not forget. There is something incredibly special about being able to completely switch off and simply listen to nature. Pure tranquillity.
And the food deserves its own paragraph! Every meal was genuinely 5-star. Beautifully presented, thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delicious. For a lodge in such a remote and wild setting, the standard of the food was exceptional. Every meal felt like part of the experience.
Then there are the game drives — truly something to write home about! They are exceptionally well planned, but what really stood out was how committed the guides and drivers are to giving you the very best of what nature has to offer. These are proper, true off-road safari experiences.
We could spot an animal deep in the bush and our driver would not hesitate to go off-road to get us closer, sometimes bringing us to within a metre of the animal. It made the sightings incredibly intimate and exciting. You genuinely feel that the team is determined to make every game drive memorable.
The only bittersweet part for me is that Qorokwe does not accommodate children under 6. I completely understand the reasoning, especially given the wilderness setting, but after experiencing the lodge, I found myself wishing I could bring my whole family here on my next trip. And, of course, I have a very curious 3-year-old waiting at home! So I guess I’ll have to wait a little longer.
Qorokwe is that rare combination of luxury, adventure, exceptional food and complete tranquillity. It is the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave.
Beautifully done, incredibly memorable, and somewhere I would absolutely love to return to, hopefully with the whole family one day.

Absolutely stunning. Staggeringly beautiful scenery, more animals than we ever dreamed of seeing, fabulous accomodation, great food, and the absolute greatest staff. Eustace at Linkwasha was the most perfect guide imaginable - friendly, funny, and with seemingly endless knowledge. All the other staff were also exceptional. Although we didn't spend as much time at Toka Leya, it was equally lovely - shout out to Godfrey, Felix, Cassy, and Nono!

This is my 9th safari and Wilderness Shumba rates among the best, if not the best, total experience I've had in Africa. Coordination with my US-based safari outfitter, their ground operator, the charter flight operator and Shumba was flawless and seemless. The camp itself combined a low-keyed luxury with a bush experience worth of Busanga Plains. Food, service, hospitality and staff could not have been more perfect. The setting in the midst of the marshy plains complete with busbucks and the occasional troop of vervet monkeys had such an authentic yet non-touristy feel. Our guide not only knew the territory but he himself was part of the land and considered his work not just showing us wildlife but bringing us into his life experience. Busanga Plains is such a wild location and Wilderness Shumba made us feel part of the land, its people and its creatures.

Magashi is a perfect “Amuse Bouche” to the breathtaking experience of meeting the Mountain Gorillas and staying at the unforgettable Bisate Reserve! The best lodge we have ever stayed at at any wildlife experience …. By a long way !

There aren’t enough stars to rate our experience with Wilderness. We were four adults, two teens, and a six year old. Your staff was spectacular. The guides were so knowledgeable and caring. Each lodge was lovelier than the one before. The chef at Ruckomechi even baked a birthday cake for my grandson.
The safaris were beyond beautiful and we saw everything we came to see.
I let everyone who asks to try and experience what we did.
