The tents were beautiful facing the Zambezi River. We loved that the location was in the Mosi-os-Tunya National Park and the the resort's commitment to the community and nature. We loved seeing Victoria Falls from both the Zimbabwean side and the Zambian side. It was relaxing to escape the hustle and bustle of Vic Falls and return to such a peaceful place where we could see animals on the water and on land. It was a dream!

The "on-the-ground" support touted by Yellow Zebra / Wilderness could be a call center anywhere in the world. Our parting memory of South Africa is sitting for several hours at "bytes cafe" at Johannesburg airport's pre-security area with 2 young kids and my mother (celebrating her 70th birthday) trying to avoid the gum stuck under the table.

Here's what happened: Our last day involved complex travel (remote safari lodge > van > bush plane > JNB international flight check in) yet no one proactively reached out to confirm the plans or ask our preferences. We relied on a pdf print out from weeks prior.

We had even specifically asked (weeks earlier) what would happen while we waited for our international flight (given our unfamiliarity with Johannesburg's airport). We were assured we would remain at various lounges until our flight time.

Instead, the charter plane company eagerly dumped us at the main terminal hours early and we waited for several hours pre-security in Johannesburg airport because the British Airways check-in counter wasn't open yet. This is when we got to experience bytes cafe. No one from the "on the ground" team called us and certainly no one recommended a restaurant or offer any realistic solution. The team is unable to support the most basic service recovery.

It was a chaotic end to the trip and not at all what one would expect when you book at 10-day trip that costs the equivalent of a higher-end car for your parent's milestone birthday...

My husband and I worked with Antonina Welfing to set up our safari to Botswana. She was so helpful and gave us wonderful and detailed information about the camps we were thinking about. It was hard to decide among the camps but with her knowledge and guidance it helped us tremendously.
We loved both the camps we went to, Chitabe and Little Vumbura, both in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. The guides were also amazing, Duke at Chitabe and Nono at Little Vumbura were delightful and shared such interesting facts not only about the animals but also their environment.
The accommodations at both camps surpassed our expectations, the service staff were friendly and helpful. The food was incredible and the chefs were always available to answer any questions you may have.
I never expected our safari to reach these levels! Just amazing......
Wilderness also helped us with our arrival and departure, meeting us at the baggage claim and when we left shuttled us through the airports to assure we got through security lines easily and to our gates in plenty of time. We were so impressed with this additional service! Made our trade so much easier.........
Hoping to make it back again soon.

We returned from Rwanda and Zimbabwe a few weeks ago and can’t stop talking about how incredible our experience was. Wilderness made everything easy and breathtaking. We felt so safe and cared for the whole time at every transfer, drive, and plane ride. And the food was brilliant. We will most certainly use Wilderness for our next adventure.

Unforgettable experience our guid CJ was brilliant, as birders his knowledge was very helpful.

From the moment you arrive at the lodge you are treated like royalty! Everything is absolutely perfect. The game viewing is surely the best in Africa! The guides at Wilderness camps are excellent! Food at Vumbura was Michelin Star quality. Overall an experience you will never forget.

Fantastic experience! My guide, Matthew, was kind and super knowledgeable. I learned so much and had a wonderful time exploring with him. The hospitality of our Wilderness friends (they are now friends for life) at all three camps we visited in Botswana was only exceeded by the extraordinary viewings of the animals and landscape. The accommodations were wonderful and our nine-day safari experience left us with memories we will long cherish, including the nightly roaring of lions and grunting of hippos. We had hoped for a trip of a lifetime and what we experienced surpassed all expectations. Thank you to everyone at Wilderness.

My partner and I have just returned from an unforgettable safari in North Tanzania with Wilderness. We visited Tarangire National Park (2 days), Lake Manyara National Park (1 day), Ngorogoro Crater conservation area (1 day) and Serengeti Park (4 days). From the beginning, the communications with the Wilderness team were excellent with our own WhatsApp group with the staff who were on hand to answer our questions. Our guide Haji was exceptional with his knowledge, passion and ability to spot wildlife. My partner is a keen wildlife photographer and our guide was very helpful in positioning the vehicle so he could get the best shots. He went above and beyond to make our experience really special - even on the last day when driving us to the airstrip, he took us to see the hippos which we hadn't managed to get good photos of previously. Nothing was too much trouble. The lodges which were booked for us were in a variety of locations; the staff were friendly and hospitable and the food was locally sourced, fresh and well prepared - among the best we've eaten anywhere. Lahia tented accommodation in Serengeti Park deserves a special mention as the accommodation was outstanding with a 360 degree view of Serengeti Park. Wilderness staff checked in on us regularly during our safari via WhatsApp and arranged for us to stop to buy souvenirs on our way back to Kilimanjaro International Airport. We always got quick responses to our messages. We would definitely use Wilderness again for a future safari and would be happy to recommend them.

I wanted to thank the Wilderness team for helping us plan and go on this amazing trip. We couldn’t have asked for anything more! From our tours of Cape Town to our end at Victoria Falls it was amazing.

I especially want to call out how above and beyond both the Vumbra Plains and Chitabe Lediba teams went to make it once in a lifetime experience! They both bent over backwards to cater to daugher and recognize my milestone birthday. From a cake and celebration at Vumbra with the staff, to a private dinner on our porch at Chitabe. Both guides were amazing. They provided so much information and we saw everything we wanted to see and more. Big shout out to them

To top it off the level of help we got from going across borders from transportation to immigration, we couldn’t have done it without your team. We are amazed at the level of service we received and no future vacation will compare.

Amazing experience with Wilderness in Botswana and Zimbabwe. Totally recommend it. The camps, Little Vumbura and Little DumaTau, and our guides Onx and Ron were remarkable, we had one of our best holidays ever. The Usawa was really good – the Camp is well organized, the staff is amazing, friendly, helpful, our guide Manga was really experienced, we follow each other on Insta and I shared all my Safari- photos with him. We had wonderful bush breakfast, lunch, dinner and beautiful sunsets and sunrises – a lot of animals for sure and good vibes. I especially liked the relatively quietness of the area around the camp. Only few cars and no hectic of the Wilderness guides. I saw a lot of other cars of other companies driving too fast or driving during sunset.

So I can recommend this camp and Wilderness for this part of the Serengeti!

My recent journey through Wilderness camps in Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia was exceptional from start to finish.

Wilderness did a fantastic job of guiding us through a spectacular safari in Southern Africa. From the start at Toka Leya in Zambia where we had two highly qualified guides to introduce us to the Zambezi River and walk us around the Victoria Falls. From there we flew to Chitabe and Vumbura Plains camps. At all three camps the guides were exceptional allowing for safe, educational and exciting game drives each day. The camp staff at all three of the camps were exceptional. They provided for every need we could think of and we can’t wait to return. Thank you Wilderness for a trip of a lifetime.

Highly professional, passionate, organized group. We did three countries in 2 weeks and everyone was flawless. They helped us book the camps, organize the transfers and everything in between. We had an incredible time visiting 3 camps in Botswana in May 2026. The camps were amazing, but the staff were even better! Our guides, CJ (Wilderness Chitabe) was amazing, and we did not want to leave the camp, our CJ! Next, we flew to Wilderness Vumbura Plains where we were guided by Taps who exceeded our expectations. The whole staff at both of these camps were so thoughtful and we had an amazing time.

I just came back a week ago from our wonderful trip to Namibia. It was 12 out of 10! Every transfer (thank you, John, especially!), every guide (thank you, Tabitha, especially!) every camp with its kind team (thank you, Sara, especially!) met and exceeded our expectations. My daughters and I had the most special time and would return next week, if we could ;)
We felt safe on every flight with every pilot and enjoyed every minute.

Our safari experience at Chitabe was absolutely unforgettable, and a huge part of that was thanks to our incredible guide, CJ. From the moment we arrived, CJ’s passion for the bush, wildlife, and conservation was obvious. His knowledge of the animals, birdlife, and ecosystem was truly impressive, but what made him exceptional was his ability to turn every game drive into an adventure filled with excitement, humor, and unforgettable moments.

CJ had an amazing instinct for tracking animals and always seemed to know exactly where to be at the right time. We saw incredible wildlife sightings that we never could have found on our own, including breathtaking close encounters that we’ll be talking about for years. He was patient, professional, and always made sure everyone in the vehicle had the best possible view and experience.

What really set CJ apart was his personality. He made every day fun, engaging, and relaxed while still being incredibly attentive and detail-oriented. Whether sharing stories around the fire, answering endless questions, or teaching us about the smaller details of the bush that most people overlook, he made us appreciate Africa on a much deeper level.

Chitabe itself is a spectacular camp, but guides like CJ are what make it truly world-class.
