I just opened a bottle of Merlot. It smelled right, (like bread yeast) but the taste was very acrid. It was okay with cranberry juice added to it, but I wouldn't serve it straight to my guests. It might be okay to make into vinegar. I bought it to drink straight as Merlot.
I don't have high expectations for the rest of the box, even though there are 2 bottles from California. I won't buy from this company again, There was no problem with packing or shipping with FedEx, but when a company allows bad wine to be sent to a new customer, that shows me that they're not much. I see now that others have had the same experience. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I never ever post reviews. After the experience I just had with wineonsale.com, I felt as though I had to warn others about them.
UPS somehow broke 4 of the bottles of my 20 pack, and the shipping box arrived damaged (wet, drooping, and retaped). I called the company, and they requested that I take a picture of the inside of the box and send it to them so they could make it right. I did as they requested. After doing that, for me it was a labor-intensive hour and a half nightmare of seriously dangerous cleanup of all remaining bottles. This included responsible discarding of the broken glass, and the glass filled shipping box without getting injured. Thankfully I was extremely careful and did not get cut. Liquid wine and dried wine were everywhere, and glass (yes, shards of glass) was everywhere, and it was stuck on all of the remaining bottles, which needed to be painstakingly cleaned. The labels on some of the surviving bottles were actually damaged. I'm 60 years old and have never had to clean up anything quite like that before (and it was late at night after a really long day). Yes, I realize that wineonsale.com did not break the bottles.
The next day I called the company and spoke to a female supervisor. I was looking to have the 4 bottles replaced as well as having some (or all!!) of the shipping refunded due to my horrible, time-consuming experience. She only offered a refund on the shipping of 4 bottles ($28), OR a reshipment of the 4 bottles that had been broken. Nothing was offered to make up for the huge hassle. This simply wasn't good enough for me. I was not satisfied with that after having such a dreadful experience. The supervisor offered nothing additional even though I suggested that she offer me 8 bottles instead of replacing just the 4 lost bottles. I also suggested refunding more or all of the shipping cost for the 20 bottles. She also offered an opportunity to return all of the remaining wine for a refund and then I would have to contact Groupon in order to get a separate refund from them - which would be lots more work for me.
I wasn't getting much compassion from this company nor from the supervisor who, when I pointed that out, said she was sorry that the wine arrived "damaged". To me, corked wine or oxidized wine is damaged wine. My wine arrived dangerously shattered, and I was stuck with the cleanup. At no time did anyone at this company seemed remotely concerned for my personal safety with their broken product, they just seemed inconvenienced by me. No one advised me to be extremely careful with the broken bottles. They did not care, and I could hear that on my phone calls to them (I also spoke to a regular representative).
My patience was soon up during that first call with the supervisor. Our conversation was going nowhere so I asked her to think about my situation and reconsider. I told her I would call her back later in the day. I called back hours later and got the same answer from her. I was calmer and more patient on that second phone call with her. During the first phone conversation, the supervisor, who likes to have power over her customers, reminded me that I should be nice to her and not "cop an attitude" because she was the "person who could help me". She reminded me of this at least twice during our first conversation on April 2, 2025 (yes please, go back and listen to the recorded phone conversation we had). In my opinion the supervisor never actually helped me. She likes to talk over the customer - she actually agreed with me that she likes to do that when I pointed it out, on our second conversation. She is sarcastic and, at times, nasty, aggressive, and even mean-spirited. She's an actual supervisor for this company?? If she is the voice of wineonsale.com, the company is in deep trouble. The only thing she and I agreed on is that I was the victim in this situation. Again, there was no compassion from her.
No, I wasn't satisfied, and nowhere near 100% satisfied like the company's disclaimer reads. I cut my losses with my 16 messed up bottles of remaining wine and accepted the offer for a reduction in shipping on my order. No, the company will not be replacing those 4 broken bottles. No, wineonsale.com, you didn't "make it right". That supervisor actually made it worse. Before we hung up the phone, I left her with a promise to post this true story as widely as possible (I told I would use her name but was not allowed to in this review). I'm keeping my promise.
Stay away from this company, Stay away from that supervisor!!!!!
PS - There seem to be many recent negative reviews about this company regarding their terrible customer service. Most of the good reviews were posted about 5 years ago, perhaps before she was working for them.

I just received a case of 20 bottles of…
I just received a case of 20 bottles of wine with 'bottle shock' in 17 of the bottles-- I had to look up the appropriate description for the wine I ordered from this company. Some kind of mishandling of the wine can wreck it and 'bottle shock' is what happens.
The symptom is a flat, watery, taste. Also bitter tastes can be part of it.
I got a rude negative response from Customer Service blaming me somehow for the quality of their product. I had ordered 2 other times where there were a couple of bottles that were no good.
An angry toned "customer service" message told me that I had consumed the undrinkable wine and they were not going to give any refunds.
Beware of this company...

STAY AWAY. I really wish I had seen these reviews but I will never purchase from this website again. If you ever get anything from them and the package is broken, DO NOT sign for the package.
I thought I was doing the right thing in determining how many bottles were broken but because I didn't keep broken glass in my house for two days before their customer support responded, I am now stuck with all of this. I will never order from this company again and will make sure my friends and family do not either. There are better companies out there.
UPDATE (4/2): The company is now willing to reach out and wants to confirm my order is legitimate. The fact that they are only willing to work with me after seeing this negative review while I contacted them via email and phone for two months is telling.
Complete scam
Complete scam. I never received my wines. CS is incredibly unhelpful and unprofessional. They lied and said my order was delivered. FedEx tracked the package back to them. They signed for it. I was furnished only a return tracking upon purchasing. Then they lied again and said there was a missed delivery on my part and they wanted additional funds to reship. ( Not true again FedEx confirmed there was no attempt at delivery to my address) I knew something fishy was going on. Later I read too many complaints about wine never showing up. When confronted they cut off communication. Do yourself a favor and buy elsewhere.

Wine on sale stolen my money
Wine oo sale doesn't honor THEIR agreement. They sent me 114. 95 case of wine. FedEx damage the case and sent it back to them. I asked for my money back but they refused to give it. I got PayPal and buyers protection but it's been over 3 weeks and nothing. I have stage four cancer and wine helps relieve my pain. I'm on a limited income and my chemo treatments are high. I don't have that much money to just be taken. They are very unsympathetic. Iv reported them to the attorney Generals office in my state and there's and I'm filing criminal theft charges. They should be placed on the fraud list. They got their package back. I never had it at all. They are trying to make me pay for FedEx mishandling. If I never received the package then I'm entitled to get my money back.

I just ordered today with the help of their customer service rep David. David had some good recommendations on wines I have tried… which is hard to do given all the wine I have bought from them over the years! I did have an issue with one of my orders back in 2021 and they took care of it right away with a smile on their face! Usually companies give you a run around but not these guys, they are first class!
Looking forward to using wineonsale for years to come!
I ordered the 15 pack red wine
I ordered the 15 pack red wine. For the most part the wines were interesting and excellent value for the price. However I don't understand why they included Hallmark's Love wine in the package. Totally amateurish and undrinkable. I had to toss the bottle. Hallmark should stick to greeting cards and not make red vineger. It's an insult to customers to include this wine in the package. I will order again but only if this wine is NOT included.

I’ve ordered for a few years and each time they get worse. They fill the boxes with blends and many times the wine taste rancid. Tried to speak with CS to resolve but they wanted nothing to do with their 100% guarantee. It’s bogus. They’re rude ( including the CS Rep)who told me thank you after I said I’d never order again. Then he called me a liar in an email from the company. I could write a book but you get my point. Shop somewhere else that values their customers.
I was interested in trying new wines…
I was interested in trying new wines from across the country at a great price point. I purchased in total 71 wines from 4 of their prepacked cases. I ordered a 20, 18, 18, and 15 set of cases. The order delivered via Fedex in 2 days. Everything was neatly packaged and no damage or breakage to any bottles.
The issue was upon opening each case there were multiple duplicates. In total of the 71 wines there were only 20 unique wines. I received 51 bottles that were duplicates. Some I received up to 6 bottles total amongst the 4 cases. Some cases had 3 of the same bottle in them. 1/4 bottles to be new seems like not a fair shake. I emailed customer service my concerns and they asked how many duplicates were there and I can exchange them. Once I advised it was 3/4 of my order they stood behind "our website states that there may be duplicates of our best wines". I again stated that is understandable, but 50/71 to be duplicates seems a bit excessive. They offered a refund on 13 wines total at $6.86/bottle. I had asked for a full refund and they refused to do so without me having to pay for shipping and handling. After 2 follow up attempts on how to rectify this situation they stated their final offer was to pick up the 13 bottles for the refund.
I've yet to try any of the bottles so I can't speak on their quality. However if you are like me and were hoping to have a bunch of new wines to try out I'd be weary of using this company and my technique. If anything do 1 case and I guess roll the dice that you'll hopefully not get a bunch of duplicates.

Have used this company since 2020, had great experiences until the past 2 shipments. Both have arrived damaged and not with the full amount of bottles purchased. Customer service is rude and accusatory to customer despite pictures being provided of missing bottles and damaged shipping containers. It’s a sad turn for this company, they used to be great.
Update January 29, 2024….
My review was from 2022 and I have not used this company since. Today I get an email that wine on sale wants my review from 2 years ago altered to remove “ Customer service is rude and accusatory to customer despite pictures”. If you’re having to chase bad reviews from years prior, maybe that should stop and make you think about the approach of the brand. Good luck
Wineonsale is A#1 in my book
Wineonsale is A#1 in my book. I thoroughly enjoy the wines I receive BUT, the latest FedEx screwup proves what a 100%, 1st class business they are. FedEx “lost” my 20. Outlet shipment and wineonsale replaced almost immediately. FedEx eventually found part of my original order, repacked it horribly, and delivered it. How none of the bottles broke is a major mystery. Anyway, I notified wineonsale that I had received what was left of my original order and wanted to pay for it. They are, without doubt, one of the best on line businesses I have ever dealt with.
