Watch out for the Subscription
The horrid SUBSCRIPTION business practice but the company did sort it out.
April 2026 - I ordered a pot of Water Blur to try it.
May 2026 - I received an sms from my bank, telling me an amount has been charged on my card to SP WINSESS. Jumped online, found out it was the supplier of the Water Blur I purchased the month before.
I bought through the Shop app so went to there first to cancel and challenge. At no time was I made aware of any Subscription or any need to opt out. I followed Shops cancellation instructions, which directed me to Winsess.com but I don't have an account with them so there was no way of getting to my initial order.
I went back to my emails, found one had a link to manage subscription. I normally avoid clicking links within emails but I had to take a chance, it looked like the only way to get to stop them. It was a waste of time, it took me to a page with a broken URL and a message telling me the url was broken and to try again later. They issued the broken url!
Then I started my email barrage. First one, polite and asking them to cancel the mistake and refund my money.
No response.
Sunday, tried again, attaching screenshots of the order page, showing that there was no mention of any subscription.
No response.
Monday tried again, as it was still saying preparing for transit. Tuesday morning, I receive a message from Shop saying its on its way and a tracking number.
No response.
So I spoke to a lawyer friend and she advised I sent a final email as follows:
"I have been trying to cancel the subscription I was tricked into. however your cancellation link and customer portal are not functioning correctly.
This email serves as formal notice that I am cancelling the subscription effective immediately and revoke authorisation for any further recurring charges.
Please confirm in writing within 48 hours that:
*my subscription has been cancelled
*no further payments will be taken
*my payment details have been removed from your system
I have retained screenshots of the failed cancellation process and sent them via a previous email.
Regards..."
No response.
I was hoping they were honest and I would get a refund but with no response to any of my contacts, I decided to bite the bullet and block my card to stop them getting anything else out of me.
UPDATE:
I did receive a subscription cancellation confirmation email in reply to my formal notice one.
The first pot I ordered arrived. The product is ok, its a white setting powder, not worth the hype. I didn't find that it blurs anything really.
The second pot arrived and I gave it to a friend.
