Extremely disappointing customer service

I took out a business insurance policy with ARTHUR J GALLAGHER INS BRKS LTD, but decided to cancel it just three days later. I submitted a formal cancellation request by email, but the whole process became a nightmare.

I tried contacting my agent, Julian, but was ignored for days. My phone calls weren't returned, and I constantly had to chase someone just to get my cancellation processed.

Eventually, another member of staff called to reassure me that my policy had been cancelled. Despite this, I then started receiving letters and emails from the finance company saying my credit agreement was still active and that my payment had failed. Clearly, the cancellation had not been handled properly.

When I finally spoke to Julian again, instead of helping resolve the issue, he lectured me about how I should have researched the insurance before taking it out. I'm new to business insurance, and sometimes you only realise something isn't right until after you've signed up. I didn't need to be made to feel guilty for changing my mind. It certainly felt as though he was more concerned about losing his commission than providing good customer service.

Over the next three weeks, I repeatedly called for updates and was constantly told that someone would call me back. No one ever did. I had to keep chasing them myself.

I was then told they were waiting for the accounts department to approve my refund, even though I'd previously been told it had already been processed. Yet another contradiction.

Now I've been told the cheque should be on its way. "Should" is hardly reassuring. Once it finally arrives, I still have to pay it into my bank and wait for it to clear. By the time I actually receive my money back, it will have been around a month since I formally requested cancellation.

From start to finish, dealing with ARTHUR J GALLAGHER INS BRKS LTD has been frustrating, disorganised, and incredibly disappointing. A simple cancellation should never take this long or require so much chasing. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company.

Brendan was very helpful and patience explaining everything in simple terms together with a friendly approach I would highly recommend him

would be a better experience if their staff read messages and statements of fact carefully and didn't send out form letters without amending the parts they are supposed to personalise

The renewal process was quick and easy and my 2026 2027 policy reasonably priced.

I am very satisfied with the level of service. All queries were swiftly dealt with, and communication is top-notch. When asked to change details on paperwork, they acted quickly.

I contacted Gallagher to obtain a quote for rent guarantee insurance. The quote was provided very quickly with a couple of options presented. I selected the one which we were happy with and Kendall arranged the cover for us. It was a very speedy and efficient process.

Initial taking out of policy was extremely easy with swift quote and eady to do. Renewal the complete opposite. Gave all info on phone then emails saying need more info. Wpuld call and be told didnt need more info. Repeatedly occurred wasted lot of time on phone. So went with someone else...what would trying to make a claim be like??

Brendon was polite, friendly efficient and non judgemental about my circumstances. I felt seen and a suitable affordable policy was found. Highly recommend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Very straightforward process to renew my policy.

The most added value insurance company I've experienced. My agent, Joe, was brilliant in negotiating a tricky restriction and came up with a clever solution that really benefitted me. I'm ever so appreciative of his diligence and creativity.

Gallagher Insurance took over my insurance a year ago, and the service they provide is below terrible. Call the company, wait on hold for 30 minutes. Nobody picks up. Call back again, wait 30 minutes. Nobody picks up. Try to get to their commercial lines. By hitting 1, the phone goes dead. I reviewed my policies. My car policy has people on it who I don't even know as drivers. They have an old address on an umbrella policy that is eight years old, covering that property. So many errors and omissions, it makes me sick. I'm leaving them and moving to a new insurer immediately.

Phone call promises unkept. Email promises unkept. Don't waste your time. This company is just terrible.
