Cancelled my membership here after almost a year.

The positives: Staff are friendly and nice, some good classes, good opening hours

Negatives:
The lockers, changing rooms, pool etc are grim.
Not very well cleaned, lockers hanging off, no keys to use the locker.
Pool is very cold - even in summer. In winter, it is unbearably cold
Swimming lessons have began which take up a large access to the pool and changing rooms.
Quite a small gym and high priced considering competition around with similar priced membership.
Blue mats around edge of pool stink
Have to write in writing to say you want to cancel - if you do not do this, you owe £49.99 when cancelling.

Awful place. Tired, worn, unclean, equipment and facilities always out of order or not working correctly, showers are a disgrace, gym itself is no better than someone's garage only dirtier. Management not interested in members opinions or welfare. Hottub in the beauty bit is riddled with legionnaires, pool likely the same. Take a test strip and see for yourself. Owners are the same, not interested in the public and no idea how to run a successful business not realising success is built on happy customers.
It will end up closing down. Reported to environment health for the legionnaires and filth and HSE for poor equipment upkeep and lack of loler (lifting) certifications for the gym equipment.
Really poor place should be shut down.

I’ve been a member of this gym for over a year now, and I’ve really noticed a big positive change recently. Since the new manager Lee returned at the beginning of April, both the gym and pool areas have improved massively.

It’s now a pleasure to walk in the whole place is clean, tidy, and well-organised. The weights are always in the correct place, which makes a huge difference to the overall experience and shows real attention to detail.

The manager Lee is a breath of fresh air. You can clearly see his passion for the job, and it reflects in how the facility is run day to day. He’s doing a fantastic job, and it genuinely makes me happier coming here.

Since new ownership, no staff to clean communal areas, no spray or paper towels to clean equipment (not being refilled) broken equipment for months and months. No lockers available in family area, all broken. Dirty toilets and floors. Such a shame. The final straw came for me when the private room/gym upstairs was shut. Used by a lot of people for privacy. No communication, just closed one day. Fees increased by a lot made the decision to leave for me.

The gyms been steadily going down hill for a long time, but the new owners have accelerated it, most of original staff have gone, as far a I can see theres no actual gym instructors in the gym, the membership seems to have dropped as fast as the hotels hygiene rating, and the fees are going up, it's not somewhere I could recommend

The gym and swimming pool needs a complete refurbishment. I used one of the private changing cubicles and in the corners there were cobwebs and things underneath the seat it was awful. I looked at both private changing cubicles are the other was the same. The ladies changing room has 2 hair dryers out of action and the seating area looks like it needs replacing, two of the lockers (probably more are broken). In the showers the floor’s were filthy with hair everywhere and the shampoo/shower gel had run out.

When I was swimming I noticed people were going out of the sauna and going straight into the pool to cool down (not swimming just staying near the steps) this needs to be addressed as not hygienic. For the cost of membership you would expect this to be looked at.

I have been a member here for 11 years. And unfortunately it has been suffering from a lack of investment for a few years with things steadily worse. The aircon has been broken for a few years and just circulates cold air. Instead of it being kept at a ambient temperature.
The owner has been on the rooftop to look at it but it hasn't been fixed yet. The area around the steam room and the Sauna are looking very tired and need refurbishing. And the showers haven't been very warm for a few weeks. Members deserve better. The gym is of a good size and the staff are all very friendly. But there doesn't appear to be any evidence of any electrical appliances being P.A.T. tested in the coffeehouse the Gym or changing rooms. It,'s a shame
Because this was very well run place 20 years ago. I enclose photo's of lockers in mens changing room. No doors on a lot of the lockers you luckey if you find one that has a key. New ones are promised but when? No one has given a date yet!
