I left Contractor Umbrella over a year ago due to the lack of transparency with payslips and pay. It was always a guessing game if myself and others were actually going to be paid.

I always felt like there was something strange going on with this company so I signed up to monitor them through companies house. As Jackson below mentioned it looks like they are struggling to keep up with their accounts and they went from 350k profit to 250k loss in their last accounts.

My 3rd umbrella engagement and the only one to provide a service that was worth the money.
Compared to the awful service from Paystream, this company provide effective but sympathetic governance, working with the word ‘reasonable’ at the heart of ‘rules’

I've been using Contractor Umbrella for some time as I've had to change my umbrella company a few times. They are a great bunch and have no issues at all. Payment on time and very seamless.
I chose them because of their reputation and also awards they've received. This counts for alot in my view

Just left Contractor Umbrella, constant issues with payment times, wrong payments, staff not knowing and not caring what's going on. Made the mistake of checking companies house, they had a compulsary striking off order which has just been discontinued and accounts show a large loss, not a good look.

I had an excellent service so far from Contractor Umbrella, they are highly professional, quick in response, got a great team to assist you always, and more importantly they are compliant.

I would highly recommend them for any new contractors.

Have now been with Contractor Umbrella for several years and cannot rate them highly enough. They are instantly available via phone or email, and respond to all queries quickly and professionally until resolved.

Contractor Umbrella have responded quickly and knowledgeably to any queries I've had while onboarding for my first contractor role with them. The only delay came from the Agency, not Contractor Umbrella, and Contractor Umbrella turned around completion of the onboarding steps in record time as soon as the contract was shared from the Agency, which I'm able to start the role on Monday despite the delays. Quick to set up if you have a contract already, and very responsive to requests.

Passed all client ethical checks with no issues.

All interaction via email and their new online timesheet portal, beyond an early chat with account manager. Invoicing was fine once I stopped making mistakes in their system!

I used Umbrella Contractor for a 3 month freelance contract. The set up was easy and they were able to navigate some complexity with my client (e.g contract in EUR, expenses in multiple currencies, set up on client invoicing system etc...). The service is first class, very knowledgeable and very responsive. Would absolutely recommend.

This company has a lot of churn in account managers and an incompetent accounts and management team.

They sell well with promises and fail to deliver. There were so many tax issues which were caused by them making mistakes. This continued on a regular basis.

My initial 15 minute phone conversation with Jo was exceptional. She provided me with a straight forward and informative understanding of what Contractor Umbrella could do for me even though at the time (and I made this clear) that I was unsure if I even needed an Umbrella. All questions were answered to an outstanding level. They deserve 6 stars!

Joanne was amazing. A real pleasure to work with her for the entire duration of my contract. Payments and replies to my emails was always received on time. Joanne was so caring and so supportive. Absolutely stunning experience with Joanne and Contractor Umbrela.

I used Contractor Umbrella as my first umbrella company and they made the entire process extremely easy. They're very helpful and professional, their fees are reasonable, and they answered every question I had promptly and in detail. I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for an umbrella company.

Very friendly, practical, no-nonsense advice when I first contacted them. As another reviewer said, the tone and content of that conversation (without the hard-sell) meant I chose them over others.
Since then the onboarding and support has been excellent. I had a few issues with their portal but the onboarding team has always been very quick to respond to issues and queries.
They lost one star as there is obviously an issue setting up new users on their portal - it's fine once you're up and running.

Prior to approaching Contractor Umbrella, I spoke to quite a few other umbrella companies (following some recommendations from a recruiter), and there was something about Contractor Umbrella's tone and approach on the telephone that made me go with them. I have found their service to be extremely helpful, and I have never had any issues with the organisation. I have really enjoyed their service, and I will absolutely use Contractor Umbrella again. I would certainly recommend them.

So apparently is you have two pay run in a single month it is fine for them to mess up your tax. I spoke with my accountant and it appear the tax code means I'm paying tax as if this is my expect monthly pay - even though it is the pay for two months - this means I paid an extra £3000 pounds of tax this month.

When I questioned this I was just told they did everything fine and couldn't help. Apparently they are doing the right thing according to the tax office.

So the fact I paid 65% tax was my fault and has nothing to do with your system? in fact it was processing as it should? if I have any questions about why I was so highly taxed it is all on me to contact the tax office?

Told me I would be paid by end of business on Friday. Did not get paid until Saturday.

I have been using Contractor Umbrella for the last 7 months, and have had a brilliant experience with them. There have been a couple of hitches along the way (not CU's fault, some mine, some the clients), but responses from the company have been rapid and helpful, and everything has been sorted out efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them based on my experience.
