Jonathon provided prompt, efficient and expert service to help us deal with various damp problems in our Victorian home. We now feel much better prepared to find and brief suitable tradespeople to do the remedial works.

We had a damp survey carried out by Darren and we requested special attention towards a potentially problematic area of the floor. This inspection was on a property that we are in the process of buying and has been vacant for some time. Darren carried out a full inspection of the property and highlighted all of the areas that require attention. He provided a lot of useful advice on how to reduce existing and potential future damp and the most likely causes. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave very detailed explanations on what to look out for and how best to improve the ventilation throughout the whole house. He answered all of my questions (there were many, sorry Darren) and took the time to ensure I understood the complicated answers. We will be moving forward with the purchase and will keep Darren in mind to come back and check the areas we discussed have improved once the house has been "lived in" for a while. We definitely recommend Darren, both for his attitude/politeness and his technical knowledge and ability. Thanks Darren.

Thomas is incredibly helpful. His survey identified the water ingress in my conservatory a few months ago and I was very happy with his service. I contacted him again last week due to black mould starting to appear in my rental property. He offered me two survey options (data logging to see if lifestyle choices could be causing condensation leading to mould and a full damp survey). When I queried the detail of data logging he took time to explain what this involves and kindly sent me a sample report. He readily took the time to answer my emailed questions. In the end, thanks to his help and further research online, I have decided it is very likely to be a ventilation and lifestyle issue and so will not be going ahead with a survey after all at this stage. If the measures I am putting in place fail to resolve the issue I will have no hesitation at all in going back to Thomas and appointing him to do the necessary survey. I thank him for his time given so willingly in providing information and thank him again for identifying the sources of the water ingress in my conservatory a few months ago. I recommend him wholeheartedly.

Jonathan from Damp Detectives provided such an insightful inspection of our house with it's multiple damp issues. I wish I'd found this company months ago! They excelled where previous tradesmen were unhelpful. What a relief to have finally found a company who provide such an excellent service. We contacted Damp Detectives and the following day Nigel Howarth rang and we had a telephone consultation regarding our damp problems. An appointment was arranged and we were informed that it would take a few hours. Nigel arrived promptly and he spent a long time inspecting our home and taking damp meter readings. He gave us detailed information on what the problems are and how to rectify them. We received a detailed report with photo's and showing room by room where the problems are. We now have everything we need to explain to building contractors the work we need carrying out. Having had several companies let us down with misinformation it was an enormous relief to have a professional like Nigel to help us fully understand where the problems started and how to rectify them. Cannot recommend Nigel and Damp Detectives highly enough.

Nigel Howarth who covers the Stockport Greater Manchester area was first class. He used all machines available to check for any damp issues in my Victorian terraced house even my roof though I only requested a survey for my ground floor! A true professional.

Jonathan arrived spot on time. He was extremely thorough in his assessment of the problem and undertook an extensive survey. He communicated with me as an inteligent human being rather than someone who would have no idea what he was talking about. His explanations were so clear, logical and detailed that I have managed to retain the information. He was respectful of our tenant who was present and explained what he was doing throughout the process. Such clarity and attention to detail is, in my experience, rare when I'm trying to get to the bottom of a problem. Generally people shake their head and say, I'll see what I can do but no promises.

Bryony of Damp Detectives was so helpful throughout the process of having a whole house assessed for damp. We were considering purchasing an older property, but realising there were Damp issues, we decided to get a damp survey done first to see how bad the damage was. We chose Damp Detectives because the Surveyors are independent and have no affiliation with specialist companies which we found quite reassuring.
