Where to start with this shambles of a council...?

Firstly, they do not take care of their roads, potholes everywhere and when reported, they take forever repairing them, refuse liability when a pothole is over 2.5" deep.

Roadworks - shocking planning. They shut the roads at ridiculous times of the year and day and currently have ongoing roadworks on numerous roads that makes it difficult to get around. The A52 is a prime example of their incompetence as the project has cost more time and money than expected.

Buildings - they demolished all the old buildings of Derby, demolishing its history too. Derby could have been like York, as it has a lot of interesting historic facts about the place.

Events - most, if not all events have stopped in Derby. Cost cutting has gotten ridiculous and they've done away with things like Darley Park Concert, turned off the fountain and more.

Customer services by phone - good luck trying to find contact numbers, never mind trying to talk to them. Their opening times are Monday to Friday 09:00 to 15:00, pretty much when everyone's at work.

Online services - good luck navigating through this hell hole, not easy for computer literate people. It navigates you to irrelevant pages and is hard to work with. You can send them an email but they might reply in a month.

Hate this council, ruined the city.

Having used the recycling centre for many years under great management who were very friendly and helpful it appears on my visit today the contract has changed hands and the customer service /attention to detail& general ambience of the place (a shambles!)was appalling obviously Derby city council cutting corner as per usual its a shame the council tax charges dont reflect the service we receive!!!!!!

Planning application decision due 18th Dec 2018. Have made numerous phone calls leaving messages on your automated service which states call back with 48 hours/ sent numerous emails. Officially made a complaint on line and still nothing !!! Shocking service we have paid for. A planning application should take 8 weeks. If extra time is required your supposed to request additional time !! Appalling. Planning officer Aran knight please can you phone us back !!

It is an absolute scandal that they have the audacity to raise council tax by 6% because I cannot think of anyone so undeserving as them. Corrupt members who take bribes and back handers. One council member giving a friend of his a taxi license despite him having a criminal record is just one example of this yet this council member refuses to step down. It's OK for them to miss bin deliveries but if I missed one council payment they would be on me like there was no tomorrow. The council tax does nothing except go into the back pockets of the fat cats; I've had to change my tyres four times in the last year alone due to the amount of pot holes there are near where I live. Bin collections being cut back, library closures, terrible roads, what exactly is our council tax paying for? The wages of the greedy, nothing else.

Useless website. When I ring their customer service line no one ever picks up the phone. I once had an urgent council tax query and rang 6 times, each time the line rang out for a good ten minutes before I gave up. After I had finished paying my council tax for the last year, I then got a letter through the post saying they had calculated my tax wrong and I still owed them extra money and only had a week from the date of the letter to pay it. Completely incompetent, where as far as you know, they could just be making up these sums of money which apparently you owe them. I would say I don't know how they sleep at night taking money from low income families but actually I imagine our money has bought them a very comfy bed so I would probably say they have the best nights sleep ever.
