I have had a auto loan with First Tech since 2021. I've always been treated with respect and kindness...like I really mattered. I called yesterday asking for a 10 day payoff for my credit union as we need to refinance our truck. The representative attempted to email the info a few times but it wouldn't come through. I repeated my email address to confirm but it still didn't come through. I was referred to call my Credit Union suggesting that they contact First Tech. ( for some reason that wasnt possible)We dldecided I would try today. I called thus morning and spoke to Marissa Ac and she took the time to find that my email address was entered incorrectly...Marissa's patience, kindness and professionalism is rarely encountered these days. What a gem you have in this employee. If we ever finance another vehicle I will truly ask if funding with First Tech is possible. Thank you again and may God bless you all greatly this coming year.

First time opening an account at First Tech Federal Credit Union and all went very smoothly. I was treated well by the representative and the process took a while, but I had constant communication from rep and all was taken care of with the utmost care. Very pleasant environment and friendly, helpful workers.

I’ve been a First Tech Credit Union member for many years and even had a mortgage with them about 10 years ago. In 2019, I opened a savings account with about $900 because I wanted to rebuild my relationship with First Tech and support a local credit union that I trusted.
For several years, everything was fine — no fees, no issues. I assumed my savings were safe. Then, in May 2024, the account suddenly began incurring $10 monthly “balance below $1,000” fees. I didn’t realize this was happening until recently, when I checked the account and discovered that hundreds of dollars had been taken in maintenance fees. It was shocking and disappointing, especially since I was never informed of this condition when I opened the account although it was possible, I signed onto something with fine print however I found that impossible since for years the account had no fees attached.
If a credit union is going to charge monthly fees, members should receive at least some fee-for-service — a notification, email, or call explaining the new fees or how to avoid them. Instead, there was complete silence.
When I came into the branch to discuss the situation, their representative told me they would speak with management, In fact, I brought a check for $5000 and deposited it right away to make my account above their fee threshold. About 10 days went by and I sent a follow up email to the representative who helped me and they didn’t know what I was talking about until I reminded them. It was very disheartening to experience this since first tech once prided itself on personal, member-focused service.
The final straw came when I later returned to close the account. I was in and out in under two minutes — no one asked why I was leaving or showed any interest in explaining anything. The rep who helped me close the account, even commented, “Oh, you only have a membership account,” which felt dismissive and unprofessional.
I truly wanted to re-establish my relationship with First Tech after having trusted them with a mortgage years ago, but this experience left my wife and me questioning whether the credit union still values its long-time members the way it once did. I hope this feedback helps others in considering their hard earned money is safe here or maybe the bank if just helping themselves to your account which is what happened in my case.

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally express my disappointment in how I’ve been treated as a long-time First Tech customer. After many years of maintaining excellent credit and a successful career that allowed me to always pay my bills on time, I fell on hard times during the recent economic downturn. Unfortunately, instead of compassion and flexibility, I was met with rigid policies and an unwillingness to help.
Despite my long history of on-time payments and loyalty, First Tech was unwilling to work with me to refinance my auto loan or lower my monthly payment to a manageable amount. I explained my situation clearly and even presented a plan to get my finances back on track, similar to the workout agreement I successfully arranged with my mortgage lender. However, your workout department refused any assistance.
I was told that the decision came down strictly to “numbers,” and despite my assurance that I would prioritize this loan above all other obligations, my request was denied. I was treated as a number, not a person. The tone and attitude of your workout department felt cold, dismissive, and entirely inconsistent with the values I once believed First Tech stood for.
After years of loyalty and consistent payments, I find it deeply discouraging that your institution would rather repossess my vehicle than offer a reasonable path forward. I am still working to meet my financial obligations in good faith, paying an inflated monthly payment simply to keep my account current,yet First Tech refuses to meet me halfway.
This experience has left me feeling that First Tech no longer values its customers or upholds ethical responsibility during times of hardship. Please do not respond with generic offers of “help” when your workout department has already made it clear that no assistance will be provided.
