Grasmere Gingerbread's products are delicious, however their customer service is poor, which is particularly disappointing given how expensive they are. I ordered a large collection of their products - rum butter, biscuits - as a present for my wife. As it was nearly Xmas (and requested a gift card) I expected the package to arrive in an unmarked box. Instead it arrived covered in the company branding, which rather ruined the surprise. When I got in touch with them asking why they had done this I got a rather terse response saying I should have requested plain packaging (which wasn't an option when I'd paid). Given I'd paid a high cost for packaging it was a "never again" experience for me.

I absolutely love this gingerbread…. When it’s fresh anyway! Don’t get to visit very often, so a few times now I have ordered it to be delivered, and every time I remember why I always tell my myself I’m not ordering it again…. DPD is absolutely awful, they need to swap to a more reliable delivery company, every single time it’s been delayed therefore not very fresh. Very frustrating, especially for a pregnant woman with certain cravings! Will stick with trying to visit once a year

I was gifted a box of gingerbread along with a jar of rum butter at Christmas. I’d not heard of it before so didn’t have any expectations except that it should be good.
We broke into into it,literally, yesterday. I carefully spread the rum butter on it and took a bite, oh my word, it was like biting into a piece of slate it was so hard. The flavour was good but it was almost impossible to eat. I’ve tried again today, deciding to have it with coffee and dunk it, alas it didn’t soften in the slightest so the rest of the box will not be on my “to eat” list. Is it meant to be as hard as a paving slab?

All I can say is....WOW...I thought I liked gingerbread, always have, but this is on another level. It's so delicious. Would make an excellent apple crumble topping. We visited on a Sunday and we had heard about the queues. But when we got there, there was only 3 people infront of us. When we came out it was stretched right back so that was great timing. However, it's really worth the wait. I love this little shop, and the staff are brilliant and smiley and friendly, and look great. is it expensive? Well you pay for what you get, and this gingerbread is worth every penny.

I cannot recommend Grasmere Gingerbread highly enough . The gingerbread is fabulous , and we have been shopping there for decades as husband is from the Lake District , and we stop off every time we are there , and had it delivered to Scotland , and see it now delivers to Northern Ireland.
But , to match the delicious treat, the service is incredible. Diane, helped us enormously to give my 95 year old father a birthday present to remember , and went out her way to make things perfect. That was so thoughtful in itself, but when a problem arose through DPD , Diane stepped in and went out her way to sort DPD error , and my father has now got his present . And is delighted and told me some of his memories about VE Day. The hamper is truly wonderful , and it's made an elderly gentleman so happy , and honestly Diane has been an absolute star throughout the whole process . 11 out of 10 for service and hamper. Thank you so very much .

Absolutely love the gingerbread.
But I'm very disappointed with the bars of chocolate with the gingerbread crumb.
Ordered online delivered today. I was so looking forward to it.
But I can't taste the gingerbread crumb at all.
And not a fan of the chocolate. But that's me.
It won't stop me buying or eating the gingerbread as its awesome

Fantastic Gingerbread and brilliant customer service. Not living in the Lake District, I have to order online for myself, family and friends. I first tried the Gingerbread when I visited the shop in Grasmere while on holiday with my Mum, about 40 years ago! Recently ordered online for a relative but the courier delivered late and the recipient had gone away for a few days. Staff at the shop sorted it all out really quickly and made sure a fresh batch of Gingerbread was delivered free of charge as soon as the recipient got home. They were great and the Gingerbread is really special!

Bought a years supply, 12 pieces a month, didn't realise it states eat it within a week, after 3-4 days it goes from alright to horrible inedible, wish I'd only ordered one amount not a years worth. Had to bin numerous amounts of it. Maybe alright if you've got a big family to eat them fast. Can't wait for my year supply to stop coming. One good thing, I made my own and there better and don't go rock hard after a few days.

My favourite place to visit in the Lake District. Even if you don’t buy anything I recommend going just for the smell haha! The gingerbread is amazing and we love getting it as our souvenir

Been eating Sarah Nelson’s gingerbread since I was a boy in 1950. Although best eaten freshly baked I don’t have that option, living as I do in the Antipodes! Fear not lovers of this exquisite teatime treat (maybe goes slightly better with coffee?) I keep mine in the fridge and it lasts for weeks - it does go hard, but 15 or 30 seconds in the microwave and I’m practically back in Sarah’s kitchen!

Ordered a box of assorted goodies, as a Christmas hamper treat for family members (have also ordered previously as a different gift) asking for delivery on Dec 23rd. Communication was exceptional throughout, they chose a courier who also communicated well, it arrived within 24 hours of dispatch, midday, on my chosen date. Emails were polite and informative, and quick. The products were exceptionally well received, I've had 3 calls so far about how much they are enjoying them! Brilliant, well organised small company, top marks all round!
