Mike, the installer did a really good job of meeting my requirements on where the unit was to be placed in the ceiling cavity, answering my questions and explaining to me how the controller worked.

We had an HRV system installed and initially were very happy with the workmanship — the install was neat, tidy, and professionally done.

However, when winter arrived, our windows were still heavily covered in condensation. We contacted HRV and had a technician return multiple times. Each time we were assured it was simply a settings issue, yet the problem was never resolved.

They later installed an additional summer vent, but the following winter there was still significant condensation on the windows.

Prior to purchase, I specifically asked the sales representative whether our roof pitch was suitable and whether there would be enough heat in the ceiling cavity for the system to function effectively. I was assured that it was. It has since become clear that our roof does not have sufficient pitch or retained heat for the system to work as intended, meaning the unit was unlikely to ever perform properly in our home.

The after-sales support was extremely disappointing. A manager attended our home and, rather than constructively resolving the issue, I felt pressured to withdraw my complaint. I was asked to propose a refund amount and it was implied that because we were renovating, we “could use the money.” The interaction left me feeling very uncomfortable.

We did not ask for any compensation in the end. There was an offer of a full refund if the unit was removed; however, this would have left us with large holes in a freshly painted ceiling, creating further cost and disruption.

Overall, this was not a good experience. For the premium price paid, the system has not delivered the promised results, and the follow-up service has been poor. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this system and would instead consider alternative ventilation options

Poor experience. Was told during the sales cycle that the installation would not go ahead if the technician found evidence of rodent activity. Installation of positive pressure ventilation went ahead no concerns noted by the technician. First try using the system it pushed foul smelling air into the house. Insulation team confirmed 2 weeks later there was a rodent problem in the ceiling cavity. HRVs advice was to sort the rodent problem and they’ll come spray some air freshener. I can’t use the system I paid for and can’t particularly afford to have the insulation replaced right now.

Absolutely horrible service, booked an install and were stood up twice with no contact and then cancelled on twice.
Business going downhill since the new owner took over. Definitely look elsewhere for ac.

Great experience dealing with HRV after a parts issue caused a leak with our heat pump. The head office people were wonderful and responsive and Anil who came to make the repairs was professional, timely and went the extra mile to make sure we were kept informed every step of the way.

Amil and Sebastian came round and not only fixed the problem, but both were very polite and professional. Great work. Thank you.

Persistant cold calling, becoming nusiance

We love HRV, drier home in 8 years. Should have installed it when we built, but it's never too late. No more crying windows and mould on the frames. Set and forget, just alter the thermostat when it suits.
A great investment if you ever want to sell your home.

Hrv employs salesmen that push you towards their own side companies. Those companies steal your money and go into liquidation. Hrv should be ashamed they employ those salesmen. Avoid anyone with bird names.

The service provided is great as I am kept informed of what is required to keep my HRV system maintained and up-to-date. The technician was helpful and nice to deal with.

HRV listened to my requirements and was always flexible with the timing of the installation. I found it to be a plus in getting this done.

Service technician was friendly and approachable when we asked questions. This was our first service with the system and we had questions about the filters etc, which he was only too happy to show us the old ones and answer our questions.

Just love our HRV which we originally got about 2007. No more condensation. Heat from wood burners heats the house much more efficiently. Technicians that service the filters & do upgrades are really professional & friendly. Highly recommend HRV.

The promised benefit from the system was actually lower then what we experienced. There is no longer a river in the window tracks, no moisture on the windows, and overall dryer feeling throughout the entire house. The removal of moisture has made the house easier to heat, mold on tile in bathrooms is gone, and cooking smells no longer linger in the house. We no longer use allergy and sinus medications!

The installation team came did what they needed, things are working well.

Great service from our calling to advise our needs, through visit of the rep who talked through options and solutions and provision of quote on the spot. Pricing was in line with our expectations. Installation is booked. This will be 3rd time we have used HRV for our home heating and ventilation services. Always reliable.

Excellent service. Good communication. However the product speaks for itself. The HRV system keeps my parents home warm and cosey with no condensation. Installed 2 years ago.

Great investment for the Whanau’s well- being.

Recently spent a lot of money to renovate our bathroom and asked the sparky to install a good extraction fan as we have an old house, anyway long story short it didn’t work! I knew about the HRV vortex as it was mentioned when we initially installed our ventilation system a few years back, been installed now for a couple of weeks and the difference is amazing! we’ve gone from mouldy wet walls to nice dry ones!! in hindsight I should’ve just got one of these installed during the renovation and saved myself money in the long run! Installers were friendly and knowledgeable.
