Company does not return EUR 1200 deposit
The company did not give me back my deposit and reacted rudely to my emails when I addressed the issue. Reading the reviews here, I am not the only one.
The deposit has now been blocked on my card for 14 days after successful return of the car. I had to file an official complaint through my bank, hoping I will get the EUR 1200 back.

Witholding deposit
They have locked my refundable deposit for an entire month on my MC after the rental was finished. Doesn't respond to email.
Fraudulent repair charges
We have been coming to the Azores since I was a child and have been renting cars as an adult for the last 30 years. We typically come once a year for 1 month.
We have probably rented from every available car rental on the island.
We picked up an Ilha Verde rental car on Aug 26
On september 2nd we were in Ribeira Grande when our Radiator warning came on. We immediately stopped and luckily we had a person who helped us manage getting the car off the road. He opened the hood to have a look, since he happened to be a mechanic. He looked and determined that the radiator fan was broken. Good thing he was there or we would have been charged for the repair of a faulty car. I kept their names as witnesses, since they said that the rental companies on the island were known to charge huge amounts for things like that.
Someone from Ilha Verde came down and replaced the car for us. Clearly it was the only one available in our class of car at the time, it had many scratches and dents.
On September 3rd we were going up a slight hill, the clutch couldn't engage in second gear, it was worn out and we were worried about doing any driving on hills.
When we returned the car to Ponta Delgada, we explained what was going on. When the employee checked the car, he noticed a very small dent that had not been there before. Even though the dent was not caused by us it was possible that someone dinged the side of our car while we were at a restaurant, parking is very tight there.
We agreed to pay for damages, then left the car with them. We signed off on 282.00 euros for repair. The employee also confirmed that the car did not properly engage in second gear. The clutch was worn out.
When we went to drop off the car on September 10th we were presented with a ridiculous bill for 1800 euros with many damages to the car.
There were definitely issues with the car, that is completely agreed, but we didn't cause them. I feel that Ilha Verde took advantage of a small dent to send the car to the shop where they found many things to fix, none to do with us.
The person at the shop also pointed out that a shock cap was missing, from an impact?? what evidence of impact was found??? None, again only a small side dent. The cap could have fallen off anywhere, like I said, this was a last minute car available, not in good condition. This bill was a fraudulent money grab.
Please don't use this rental. I sent a detailed message stating my situation to the company and noone even had the decency to respond. These people are thieves. Beware!
Broken car, rude staff
The car got broken after 20 minutes of the pick up, the staff is extremely unfriendly, the customer service doesn’t speak English and they are not willing to find solutions at all. The worst car rental experience ever.

Bei der Abholung haben sie uns das falsche Auto gegeben und uns 2 Tage später gesagt, „es bräuchte das Service“. Also konnten wir herumtelefonieren und extra früh aufstehen, damit sie das Auto in ein kleineres eintauschten.
Am Tag vor der Rückreise versicherte man uns, dass die Rückgabe selbst nur 10 min dauert. Leider hat uns keiner gesagt, wo man sich hinparken muss. Außerdem war eine riesen lange Schlange vor uns, die alle auf die Rückgabe warteten. Da war ein Mann, der sich dann auch noch ziemlich Zeit gelassen hat und unfreundlich war, viel zu wenig. Nach ein paar Streiterein erwischten wir auf die Sekunde genau unseren Flug.

I would not recommend to anyone because of the following reasons:
1. When we picked up the car, it took a long time till we got the keys.
2. We booked a small car with manual and got a big one with automatic. That’s not what we booked!
3. On the 2nd day they called us and told us that the car needs to be replaced because of “safety reasons”. Obviously they just wanted their more expensive bigger car back.
4. When the guy came to change out the cars, it took more than 30min of our time because he didn’t find the address of our apartment.
5. When we returned the car, there were lots of people waiting but only 1 person working. We almost missed our flight !!!

6. Refund of the deposit over 1200 !!!! € now takes already almost 1 month !

Aluguer citadino
O processo de aluguer decorreu sem problemas. Apenas a registar o elevado tempo de espera (cerca de 1 hora) para efetuar o levantamento da viatura no aeroporto de Ponta Delgada.
A viatura encontrava-se em excelente estado, tendo sido proposto um upgrade para uma viatura de gama diferente por um valor baixo.

We booked through Discovercars. Pick up was OK, staff were friendly. We didn't get the car we wanted and it had no A/C. The drop off was unpleasant. Extremely rude staff and long line-ups. I dont recommend this company.

Todo bien, buena recepción y buen coche que me permitió unas buenas vacaciones en la Sao Miguel.
El problema ocurrió a la vuelta. Al devolver el coche lo revisan y me señalan un arañacito en la parte frontal que yo no he hecho. Me dicen que debería haber revisado el vehículo con alguien al retirarlo pero nadie me informó de eso. Tampoco aparece en el contrato. Lo reclamo y me contestan maleducadamente, cortando mi discurso, que si no tengo pruebas que me aguanto. Y me tocó pagar 423 euros. Me siento engañado y timado, primera vez que me pasa esto con una compañía de vehículos. No recomiendo esta empresa en absoluto.

Bon rapport qualité-prix, une promotion m'a été proposée pour un autre véhicule, j'ai refusé la promo mais le geste est appréciable. La restitution des clés s'est bien passé (5h du matin). Beaucoup d'attente pour récupérer les clés car seulement 2 personnes au bureau Ilha Verde à l'aéroport et énormément de personnes de mon vol avait loué une voiture avec Ilha Verde.

Worst car rental company ever.They give you a dangerous car with lots of malfunctions, especially the brakes and tires. And on return they charge you with 30 euro for being to early. No more Ilha Verde for us!
Get your act together!
This is one of the worst managed car-hire companies. I had to wait for longer than 2 hours to pick up my car at Pico Island airport — only one employee to handle all the reservations and nobody at the counter when I returned the car - had to leave rental contract and car key at the counter. This is completely unacceptable. Management must know how many reservations the company has each day and staff the counter accordingly. And by the way, car rates are exactly inexpensive for customers to receive such terrible service. #neveragain!

Worst rental experience
Worst rental experience. Car lost a part of the rear bumper in the first morning and they made me pay 400 euros for that! The car had a lot of rusty parts inside the car. Tires and breaks were not in good shape. Definitely I don’t recomend.
Car was not as advertised
Car was not as advertised. Check-in and return took extremely long. Car we received had a flat tire and had to be returned. The replacement was not what we reserved either. Customer service was very poor.

We rentes four days a car at Flores Island, the Azoren. The plus punts were that we booked last minute the car. The car was very new and spacious! The min parts. We waited an hour to pick up the car. Before she gave me the keys the lady told me the car had some damage so make pictures in advance. In advance i asked we need to bring the car back very early cause of an early flight at 8am in the morning. This was all fine and no problem, she would be open. By returning back the car there was no on there. And by calling several phone numbers no one answers. There was a whole group of people waiting to bring back the keys and get there deposit back. Adventually I got someone on the phone and she told me she would not be there cause she was at home with her baby. And a colleague would be there in 10min. We only had 30min before our flight. It was very stressful and she took her time to check al the cars to gave back the deposit on also the other people. I think this service could be better next time!
