Will not be purchasing again.

You decide if the gamble is worth taking

Pros: bargains can be found, shipping was fast and well packaged, complete price (inc. fees) shown at time of bidding appreciated

Cons: auction fees are pretty steep, limited pictures/information on lots, extra time added when bidding last minute was annoying

Overall, I would probably use again but it definitely felt like a massive gamble whether I would get a bargain (save £240 off RRP) or lose £200. I definitely got lucky.

If you want to robbed buy from this company if it's ELECTRICAL and you haven't seen it working do no bid or exchange a pound note. Their electrical stuff is all rejected faulty items either dead on arrival of faulty or damaged they will sell you something knowingly it is beyond reasonable repair.

Bought item some months ago

Bought item some months ago. Ordered cabinet they sent book self and draws for the cabinet. After some emails back and forth in which they asked me to carry heavy item to post office and oost at my own expense they were eventually collected. Since then almost a month ago (tomorrow) still waiting for a refund. Not sure why it takes so long as they want payments next day when you purchase. Sent email 6 days ago, still no response. No longer surprised with this level of apathy from them. Wont mention the fake speaker i haven't got money back for either.

Well they done it again and scammed me

Well they done it again to me. Another order with Item missing from the box, Messaged JP Auction and was told we have pictures of the item {Halfords Torque Wrench} In the box before it was shipped this is the third time now with problems 3 of my orders 2 of the boxes had the tap removed and resealed and other order that had £600 tool in box went missing did not get. The box goes missing and JP Auction dont want anything to do with it waited 3 weeks nothing so had to contact my bank do a chargeback to get my money
I think that DPD are looking in the boxes and removing bits they want, Also steeling the parcels, Or JP Auction are taking pictures of items in the box then removing the item Tape the box and send to recipient
Obviously im not the only one thats having these problems may'be change delivery courier.
Anyone thinking of ordering from JPA Good Luck.

Either way I have lost out on £150 nothing I can do and JP Auction dont want to help you

Misdescribed “Featured Lot”

Misdescribed “Featured Lot” – Incomplete Item Received.
I purchased a “Featured Lot” described as a complete EUFY Omni S1 Pro robot vacuum system.
On delivery, the box had been opened and resealed, and the main robot unit was missing. Only the base station was included, making the item unusable.
I contacted John Pye Auctions multiple times via email and their platform but received no response at all.

Given the item was materially not as described and incomplete, I have had to escalate the matter through my bank.

Very disappointing experience, especially for a “Featured Lot” where accuracy and completeness should be expected.

Well and truly fell for John Pye small…

Well and truly fell for John Pye small print.
Bought a Metabo wet/ dry vacuum for work. On the auction site, vacuum still in polythene, brand new unused, what a bargain, or so I thought. Not working at all, contacted John pye, sorry there’s nothing we can do, we don’t guarantee any product they make money on.
In short, if you’re a vendor with a batch of faulty products, pass them on to John pye, they have made it legal to rob you blind.
Website cancelled, never again.

Terrible experience!!!

Terrible experience!!!. I bought a washing machine and a freezer from John Pye Birmingham. There was no indication of the condition of the goods in the auction description. I paid for it and the delivery only to find out that BOTH THE WASHING MACHINE AND FREEZER DO NOT WORK!

I called engineers to repair it and both items got written off as unrepairable.
Please don’t buy white goods from John Pye unless you have gone in person to check that they actually work . Learn from my lesson, it’s NOT WORTH THE RISK!
Now I have to pay for a removal man to get rid of the items as I cannot return it.
A real terrible experience ;(

Bad time turned good

I recently purchased an item from John Pye Auctions and encountered a small issue, but I have to say the way it was handled was excellent.
Ryan from the chat support team was incredibly kind, friendly, and professional throughout the whole process. He kept me informed every step of the way and made sure the issue was resolved quickly and smoothly.
It’s always reassuring to receive such attentive and understanding customer service, especially when something doesn’t go quite as expected. Thanks to Ryan’s support, my experience turned into a very positive one.

Negligent and proud - beware getting fragile or large items delivered

I ordered a dishwasher from John Pye Auctions which arrived damaged. This was very clearly due to poor packaging, as the box they packaged my appliance in was way too small to contain the dishwasher, and they just taped it up and wrapped it in bubble wrap. Rainwater got in through the wrapping, the box, and into the machine, so it additionally smelled mildewy. Worse, the dishwasher's hose had a perforation - this was the most exposed part of the machine, it was clearly damaged in transit. When I raised the issue, John Pye refused to acknowledge any fault with how the item was packaged and declined to offer compensation for the damage caused. This mirrors the experience of countless other reviewers — the company hides behind 'sold as seen' and templated responses rather than taking responsibility. Multiple times they told me to look at the terms and conditions, and that they hoped this would clarify how auctions work going forward... which was just insulting. I would strongly advise others to avoid purchasing large or fragile items unless they are picking them up themselves. I even got all the way to their head office for complaints just to be sent photos of the bubblewrapped dishwasher and told that it was well-packaged. Very disappointing.

Fridge freezer that warms up not gets cold

We bought a brand new Hisense free standing fridge freezer from John Pye a few weeks ago. We bought it off auction online. It was £120 with £80 delivery. We accepted that there were a few scratches on the sides, a couple of small dents. Fridge was delivered. We plugged it in after leaving it for the required amount of time to settle. It did not get cold. In fact it warmed up to 15oC. We contacted John Pye and they have refused to give us a refund. They stated that we bought it without seeing it first and should have tested it at the depot. This is absolutely ridiculous. We could not have tested it there....you turn up and collect your goods....end of. We have now had to buy another fridge the same from Currys. Left with a useless fridge to dispose of. We can accept that when buying from them you always get goods that are ex display, slightly damaged etc but you expect them to be fit for purpose. Surely it was their responsibility to check it actually worked prior to auctioning it? Don't buy from them unless you are are prepared to receive goods that don't work and never expect a refund because you won't get it. Shame on you John Pye Auctions.

Misleading Listing and Unusable Item – Extremely Disappointing Experience

I feel compelled to share my experience to warn others considering purchasing from this company.

The item I received bore no resemblance to how it was presented in the listing. The advertisement showed the stroller boxed, with no images of it assembled or outside of the packaging, and there was no mention whatsoever that it was second-hand. Given that there was space provided to describe the item, it would have taken very little effort to include this crucial detail. A single photo of the stroller out of the box—or simply stating that it was used—would have been enough for me to make an informed decision and avoid this purchase.

What I received, however, was not just “second-hand”—it was completely unusable. The frame is broken and shows evidence of attempted repair as well as heavy staining on the fabric. The condition is so poor that it could not reasonably be resold or even donated. It is, quite frankly, only fit for disposal. I cannot understand why an item in this state would be listed for sale at all, and it feels as though the lack of transparency is intentional.

I appreciate that the company advises viewing lots in advance, but when listings fail to accurately represent the condition of items, that policy does not excuse the omission of basic, honest details.

This experience has been particularly frustrating for me as I am currently on maternity leave and without an income. I turned to this platform specifically to find affordable second-hand baby items. I have no issue buying used goods but this went far beyond that. I am now left out of pocket, needing to replace the item, and having to pay to dispose of the one I received.

I am extremely disappointed, both with the condition of the item and with the response I received when I raised the issue. The customer service response was that the images I provided were consistent with the sale images and that they recommend viewing the item or to adjust bids accordingly. I would strongly advise others to exercise caution, as the listings may not accurately reflect what you will actually receive.

Purchased a hoover that was listed as…

EDITING AFTER THEIR AWFUL RESPONSE. THE LISTING OF THE HOOVER SAID NO AVAILABILITY TO VIEW IN PERSON AND CAN ONLY DELIVER. FAILED TO COMMENT ON WHY NO ONE HAS COME BACK TO OUR SEVERAL EMAILS. FAILED TO RESPOND TO EMAILS. AVOID AVOID.BANK HAVE NOW REFUNDED ME THANKFULLY My partner Jordan Purchased a hoover that was listed as brand new
Arrived with no shark battery for the hoover even though it was in the box and it also has all labels on the hoover as fits brand new!!
I purchased a battery which was over £100 charged and tested and the hoover does not work. I’ve emailed and emailed and emailed no response so I’m now in a dispute with my bank to get a refund
