I just returned from a second visit to WestDent Clinic in Izmir, Turkey.
The first trip was for full mouth extractions, the installation of 12 Zirconia implants (6 upper jaw, 6 lower jaw) and gums stitched over the implants to help Osseointegration.
The second trip was for the final treatment, including the installation of 24 Zirconium crowns.
I made sure to get the correct travel insurance beforehand, and used Medical Travel Shield for both trips.
I would highly recommend taking out the correct insurance when traveling abroad for elective medical treatment.
It is definitely worth it for the piece of mind it provides.
I would definitely recommend this company to anyone!

Having used medical travel shield for the first time for travel insurance where I was attending for cosmetic surgery I was very impressed with the overall price, ease of use and service.

During my surgery I required some additional treatment which wasn’t covered by my original planned cosmetic service package.

I had secured invoiced and medical report from the surgeon and liaised with medical travel shield afterwards to request a claims for.

Laura within the claims team was excellent, quickly consulting with me around what information was required, any additional information that may be required/needed prior to submission and this resulted in my claim being accepted and paid out within 48 hours of submitting the claim.

A huge thank you to Laura in the claims team, the service offered by medical travel shield and the peace of mind knowing I had cover for my surgery whilst away.

I would throughly recommend medical travel shield to anyone choosing to travel for cosmetic/elective surgery abroad. Hopefully you will never need to claim, however, the peace of mind knowing they are there to cover any unforeseen circumstances is worth the extra money.

Great to deal with, so easy to set up

The ability to navigate the website is good. Thankfully I've not had cause to use the policy

I am very pleased that we took out this insurance!
A planned cosmetic surgery had to be cancelled when an unknowing, life-threatening condition was identified in pre operative tests.
This led to emergency surgery, which cost £5000 along with £270 for a C.T scan.
It was a relief when the claim was accepted and the insurnace covered both the operation, C.T scan, and also the none refundable deposit for the planned cosmetic surgery.
We were not charged for the cancelled cosmetic surgery so I am unsure if that would also be covered.
Like all insurance companies they do detailed checks and expect all the evidence to be provided. This included blood tests post op and follow up, ultrasound report, C.T scan report , full surgical report, a letter stipulating what the planned surgery was (with dates) from the consultant . A broken down invoice of all procedures and the original flight schedule.
Fortunately, I was able to obtain these via my coordinator but it would have been better, in hindsight, if I would have had all the information at the point of discharge to speed things up.
The emergency surgery was 26th Dec and I was notified on the 20th Jan that the claim had been excepted so providing you can give them all of the evidence, my claim took less than a month.
I was dealt with by Heather, we mainly communicated via email which was handy for me with work but she was happy to.ring me and offered on a couple of occasions to talk things through.
I wouldnt hesitate in taking out this insurance in the future, it was well worth just over £100 when the claim settlement was £5570. They deducted the excess of £100 (which i think is reasonable) and £100 for the cancelled surgery (not sure why)

Just ensure that you get all of the necessary evidence needed and the process seemed pretty straight forward.

Given the emergency surgery was completely unexpected, this insurance turned out to be a very good policy in this situation.

So very helpful after having to extend my stay due to infection. Heather went above and beyond to help me and the process was seamless end to end.
I would definately recommend using Medical Travel Shield to any one looking for cosmetic insurance.

Booked insurance for RLE surgery in Prague. Really easy to arrange and covered travel for myself and partner. Staff were very helpful with queries I had.

I fortunately didn't need to claim. Taking out the insurance was easy. I will definitely be using Medical Travel Shield again infarct very soon.

It was easy to purchase and I knew i was covered. Thankfully not had to use it but I felt assured I didn't have to worry whilst having ing surgery abroad

My claim was paid eventually but what a hassle it was. Providing all the details they required was very time consuming and caused me some stress. I hated to keep bothering my clinic for information, receipts, bills, times, dates, proof of work done, reasons for work needing doing, etc. It's just not the clinic's responsibility to spend time on such things. Then there's flight times, duration of stay, hotel bills etc. Yes, MTS paid my claim eventually and my contact there was pleasant and patient

The online site was easy to navigate and just to confirm I didn't mess that bit up I phoned in and they were easy to deal with and happy to help.
I've used them once before and will use them again in 2026
