Excellent table and reasonable delivery…
Excellent table and reasonable delivery time. Quick to assemble and looks great. Edges are smoothed off and no splinters (which was an initial concern for me). Plenty of nail holes but that is to be expected. Definitely recommend!

Dinning Set
We ordered a Dinning table, 4 chairs and a bench. All arrived in time and good condition, we are really happy with everything. We did have an issue were a chair broke after only 1 month but Modish replaced it for free no problem.

I wouldn't buy this table again.
We bought the Collette Refectory Dining Table.
Purchasing and delivery all were without problem and the item arrived pretty quickly so all good. The table looked great and we really liked it. It's rustic and has lots of character and just what we were after!
The problem arose when using it as a dining table. The wood is stained a light grey but has an oiled finish. A dining table to be used as a dining table should have a sufficient finish to repel food stains, grease etc as innevitably over time the table will come in contact with these kind of items. This tables finish is so poor that from day one, we had visible grease marks because instead of repelling, the table was absorbing. We have small children who eat daily at the table and despite clearing up immediately (we really have looked after it) the table was littered with grease marks within days.
I contacted customer services who were quick to point out it was a clearance item and couldn't be returned. After some discussion and pointing out that the finish was inadequate and we didn't actually want to return it as we loved the look of the table but actually wanted to use it as a dining table and wanted to improve the finish (apparently not everyone uses a dining table in the same way as we do - yes we have kids and use place mats, coasters to assist with reducing instances of food coming in contact with the table) Modish Living were good enough to send out a company to re-oil the table.
This has improved the finish slightly but it still absorbs food spillages, and the table is now darker than it was when arrived but still looks good just not how it arrived. The man who oiled it explained that this type of finish would need regularly re-oiling to prevent the kind of problems we were having. He asked if there was literature at the point of sale to explain this to the customer, to my knowledge other than the basic care instructions for reclaimed items, there isn't. He said that the only way to fix the problem was to have it professionally sprayed with a lacquer but it was not advisable once a table has been oiled to do this without sanding completely first.
So long story but we have a table that isn't really up to being a family table. If it was a side board or similar, I get that a finish like this would be sufficient and look lovely.
Unfortunately, my expectations for the product to function as it should, haven't been met and despite it being re-oiled it will continue to be an issue whilst we own the table. We're resigned to the fact that we've bought an item that looks great but isn't really up to purpose. I will re-oil the table at regular intervals to try to keep it from continually absorbing greasy fingers and ketchup spills etc, but at the price point that these are sold, I'm quite disappointed overall and wouldn't buy again.

Thank you for leaving this feedback. Of course we are sad that you are not completely happy with your table finish. It's a particular shame as we understand that you otherwise are happy with the table.
We offer dining tables in oiled and lacquered finishes. Tables with an oiled finish such as yours retain a highly natural feel to the wood while affording some level of protection. It's the finish that tends to be used on solid wood kitchen worktops. This natural feel combined with some protection of the wood make oiling a popular finish, particularly as it is easy to deal with any marks that develop over time with a quick re-oiling; a process which also nourishes the wood ensuring it will last many years.
We do also offer lacquered tables. This is a finish that doesn't tend to need reapplying as it more fully seals the wood, however offers slightly less of a natural feel.
We do state the finish on the page you ordered from Carl and we of course are always very happy to advise on finishes and aftercare. Please feel free to get in touch and we would be more than happy to talk to you about after care of your solid wood table to ensure many, many years of family use.

Great chest of drawers
Great chest of drawers, would be 5 stars were it not that the delivery team left the chest of drawers in its massive box which I struggled to unpack, and now the box won’t fit in my recycling bin or my car to get rid of.

Thank you for your feedback - We realise packaging can be an issue for some of our customers. The reason we leave the packaging on most of our deliveries is purely to allow for the return of items. With internet shopping many customers are buying something they haven't seen in the flesh and so of course that comes with the right to return items if they are not what was expected. We only supply furniture that we love and we feel will customers will too when they see it so we don't have high numbers of returns. But the problem with taking away the packaging is that it makes the return and resale of items more difficult - of course the flip side of that is you end up with the packaging which we realise may not be ideal.
We do also apply regular pressure to our suppliers to minimise their packaging where possible - but it's a fine balance of materials used vs protection.

STUNNING QUALITY
Orderd Saturday arrived by Tuesday. Delivery drivers were excellent so helpful.
The table is absolutely stunning we couldn't be happier. Exceeded all our expectations. We were a little nervous reading the write up on reclaimed wood. Wasnt sure what we would recieve. The pictures and write up were excellent but they did not do it justice. It really is beautiful and the workmanship is outstanding.
