Pirate's Grog Rum Reviews

If you’re looking for a spirit that captures the soul of the Caribbean, Pirate’s Grog is a voyage worth taking. Originating from the island of Roatán, Honduras—a historic pirate haunt—this brand delivers a range that balances smooth craftsmanship with a rugged, adventurous spirit.
Here is a look at the standout expressions in their collection:
The Flagship: Pirate's Grog 5 Year Old
The 5 Year Old is the heart of the range. Aged in white American oak bourbon barrels, this golden rum is incredibly smooth. It’s not overly aggressive; instead, it offers a refined sweetness.
The Profile: You’ll find rich notes of vanilla, butterscotch, and raisin.
The Experience: It works beautifully neat, but it’s a "Golden Pistol" cocktail’s best friend when paired with ginger ale and plenty of lime.
The Masterpiece: No. 13
For those seeking something truly exceptional, the No. 13 is a powerhouse. This is a 13-year aged single cask rum that brings a whole new level of sophistication to the table.
Deep Flavour: It boasts a deep, complex flavour profile featuring dark chocolate, coffee, and a hint of orange oil.
Warming Feelings: At 40% ABV, it provides those classic warming feelings that spread through your chest with every sip—bold enough to make its presence known, yet smooth enough to savour slowly.
The Rebel: Pirate's Grog Spiced
If you prefer a bit of "mischief" in your glass, the Spiced Rum is a must-try. Built on the base of their award-winning 5-year aged rum, it’s infused with a secret blend of spices found along the Roatán shores.
Tasting Notes: Expect a salty-sweet harmony of caramel, allspice, and cinnamon.
The Kick: It lacks the synthetic "chemical" aftertaste found in cheaper spiced rums, offering a natural, punchy spice that stands up perfectly against ginger beer.
The Presentation: The Authentic Chest
What truly sets Pirate’s Grog apart as a gift (or a treat for yourself) is the packaging. You can opt to have these bottles housed in an authentic chest.
Handcrafted Quality: These aren't flimsy cardboard boxes; they are handcrafted wooden chests (often in a rustic black or natural wood finish).
The Finishing Touch: To complete the "buried treasure" vibe, you can even include a personalised message on a wax-sealed parchment scroll. It’s the ultimate way to feel like you’ve just unearthed a prize from a sunken galleon.
Final Verdict: Whether you're sipping the No. 13 neat to appreciate its depth or mixing the 5 Year Old for a summer party, Pirate's Grog delivers a premium experience that lives up to its legendary name

I received my first bottles of pirates grog for my birthday, by far my favourite was their honey spiced. The amber nectar coats the throat with a gentle warming with a full hit of Smokey honey. Straight or with a mixer it works so well. I currently have a cold and this stuff keeps your chest clear much better than any cough medicine. It soothes on the way down and after a glass or three you soon forget about your sore throat.

The only issue I have found is the further down the bottle you be getten you be slurring yer words and be reaching for ya cutlass. Ye be looking at everyone like theys scurvy dogs and be wanting to sail away on yer ship. It be a real treasure that's fer sure and I be lookin forward to more of the same this Christmas

Great choice of flavours and new ones being added, can’t wait to try! Liked the choice of adding a gift box with mug or glass, makes it extra special! Delivery came really quickly. Would use again!

Xmas 25 - bought a 3 bottle pack with a view to the if it’s over £70 you get £20 off - that’s what the email said. Ok there was some discount but not like Black Friday.
So the review:
The peach rum honestly it tastes like Archers Schnapps. Nice but no way £35 at full retail
Spiced rum - it’s probably my current favorite but again at £35 it’ll be either Xmas or birthday or Black Friday 26 before you see me again.
Top tip drop those prices and don’t be like Temu and mislead with your sales copy.

What can I say
Only that feeling sixteen again
And in total love 💘
Taste is love
Feelin is love
Experience is love
Well done the grog crew 👏

I contacted Pirates Grog when I was unable to order 2 bottles of the Smokey Ginger Spiced Rum they came back to explain it was due to low stock. As soon as they knew it was coming back in stock I was contacted. So customer service is excellent. The rum I bought was as a Christmas present for my Son and the other bottle for my husband to try. He is extremely happy with this he said how smooth it was it's now his absolute favourite he will definitely want to try the other favours.
