Another amazing custom made trip to Peru
Another amazing custom made trip to Peru from rough guides. The hotels and tours that was booked for us was great. All the tour guides were knowledgeable and helpful and even took beautiful pictures for us. If I have one suggestion to make is that our tour for the rainbow mountain, the communication could have been better. Because everyone has different levels of fitness we didn’t all make the hike at the same pace. It would have been better t tell the group before hand what time to meet up back down the van. And although we were dropped off near our hotel after the tour I expected to be dropped off at our hotel as we were picked up from there. The reason given was that the van was too big to come through the alley of our hotel which I found a bit strange as it was the same van that picked us up in the morning. Otherwise everything else was great. Communication with the booking of the whole trip was great and they were even checking up on us to make sure that everything was going smoothly. Custom family trip we all loved
Joel built us an incredible itinerary and helped adjust it to fit our family. Our flight was delayed a day and as soon as we messaged him, he was working on adjusting our reservations. He checked in regularly and always had good suggestions. We all had a great time and got to see the highlights that were important to each of us. We have recommended Rough Guides to many colleagues and friends and will be back for another adventure.

I booked through Through rough guides and they used a local Guide I dealt with a lady called Habiba who was absolutely fantastic. She responded to our texts straight away. She planned a really good Trip
We spent a night in Caro at the beginning and then flew to Luxor and went down the aisle for four night five days We then went to hurgarda where we had All inclusive Hotel for three days and then we went back to Caro and had two nights since saw the Pyramids Spinks and Egyptian Museum it was a fantastic tailor-made trip. Habiba was fantastic. I was delighted and would thoroughly recommend using rough guides and Habiba who I think works for sun pyramids. In cairo

Rough Guides Delivers Pure Bolivia
Rough Guides connected me to excellent local tourism professionals. Planning and preparation were handled efficiently and professionally. Once in country, I had access to regular support and check in from the Local team. It was definitely a group effort, but it all worked seamlessly. My trip to Bolivia was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Our trip encountered unexpected obstacles along the way such as canceled flights, and medical emergencies. Through it all, the local stuff were fully in charge and completely on top of every unexpected itinerary change. I’m grateful for the support I received.

We wouldn't change a thing about our Italy itinerary. The tours, transportation and accommodations were spot on based on our conversations with Valentina and Rough Guides. They had great suggestions and when we had questions they were available and extremely helpful
We are already looking to book our second trip with them!!!

Having guides for the multiple…
Having guides for the multiple activities was truly helpful, we would not have been able to navigate the trip with out their coordination. The whole trip was well planned out by Rough Guides.

Sicily and Amalfi Coast
Rough Guides put together 2 itineraries, one for Sicily for our extended family of 8 and one for the Amalfi Coast area for 2. All the accommodations were excellent. Drivers were arranged and they were all on time with clean and spacious cars. We had tour guides in several locations, and they were all very good and could adapt the content to the group. The Rough Guides staff were accessible during our travels when we needed some additional unexpected assistance. In addition, the hotel staff were all friendly to our family members. Definitely a trip of a life time.

The organization of my trip was outstanding especially for a complicated itinerary.
The organization of my trip was complicated with many internal flights, transfers and tours at 4 locations through out Peru and every time our drivers and guides were on time. Tours were run with professionalism and when any problems arose the communication from both the main rough guides liaison and the local guides were prompt and they were able to solve the issue quickly.

Rough Guides & Pure Bolivia = Exceptional Support
Rough Guides partnered with local tourism operators to develop a wonderful exciting itinerary for our group of four. Throughout the trip I had regular communication via WhatsApp and never felt ignored or without a sense of support. This was critically important because several unforeseen setbacks occurred during our trip. A critical flight was canceled that jeopardized our entire itinerary. The Local team worked swiftly and efficiently to figure out the most timely and efficient way for us to get back on our schedule. In Uyuni, I fell and broke my arm. Our local guide and driver were absolutely amazing in caring for me and getting me to the health clinic for care. These are unusual and unexpected setbacks, and I was very appreciative that the entire team at Pure Bolivia and Rough Guides were checking in on me regularly. Normally, I travel and book my travel independently. But this time, I was very glad to have had the concierge support along the way. I will be booking more tours in the future with Rough Guides.

Honeymoon Trip
My husband and I went to Morocco for our honeymoon trip in October 2024. We had the absolute BEST time. This trip has been my favorite trip I've taken in my life. Our rough guides itinerary was perfect. We were able to stay in the beautiful riads in Marrakech and were surrounded by so much culture and history. Then we drove to a Kasbah in the Palm Oasis which was magnificent. The dinner meal there was our favorite. We then made our way to a desert safari where we got to ride camels and watched the sunset on the dunes. Everyone showed us immense hospitality and you can just feel the love and kindness they have in everything they helped us do.
Our driver Moad made the experience EVEN BETTER. Our trip was a week long but we felt like we were driving around Morocco with one of our longtime friends. He didn't feel like a chauffeur at all. We sang and laughed and talked on our drives together and it made the hours pass by so quickly. We were just saying that we wished we could take us back home with us! We will miss him the most. We have been raving about our experience to all our family and friends. We hope to go back one day and will definitely do it again with Rough Guides. Thank you so much for a life changing trip.

My travel guide was very detailed and thorough. Scheduled tours were all outstanding and very informative! Hotel breakfasts were hit or miss. Our first hotel provided hot dog buns as the breakfast bread option.

Good experience …value for money??
Trip was well coordinated. All transfers were smooth and the guides were knowledgeable and reliable. We have used rough guides before. We didn’t feel this trip was personalized to our needs like the last one was. Also we were able to book rooms cheaper ourselves. Not sure the value was there.

"The travel experiences in Japan differ from those in Southeast Asia, such as Thailand and Vietnam, where we typically provide fully private services with dedicated cars and guides throughout the journey. In destinations like Japan and Korea, due to significantly higher costs, we often design a more semi-independent tour approach to help manage the budget. This usually involves a combination of private transfers, local guides, and public transportation options that many travelers find both authentic and efficient.
When crafting their itinerary, our intention was to balance personalization with budget considerations by incorporating guided experiences alongside Japan’s excellent public transportation system. However, I realize now that I should have communicated this approach more clearly to ensure that their expectations were fully aligned with the type of trip we planned. I regret that this may have led to the impression that this journey was less personalized than their previous experiences."
Your feedback is very important to us and we are working closely with Tom and his team to make sure these aspects, particularly of traveling in Japan and South Korea, are communicated better with the traveler.

A Great Trip to India
Our experience with Rough Guides/Active India for our trip to India was excellent. The logistics were seamless, and the staff—representatives, guides, and drivers—were professional and friendly throughout. The hotels mostly exceeded our expectations, the restaurant recommendations were spot on, and the itinerary was carried out smoothly, with no major issues.
