Sendean - the Viewfinder's Business

This is the second time I have used Sender: the first was a fairly straightforward replacement of a power unit in a Nikon. This second time was for the full-scale resurrection of a Sony DSC-RX100, which had completely collapsed after some hard use 6 years ago. And there was pressure of time, because I was leaving the country in 7 days time.

Sender did the repairs, promptly, expertly, completely in the agreed time for the quoted price, and now I have a sub-compact camera that is 12 years old and working as well as the day I bought it.

After a previous camera repair shop decided they couldn't help with my 35mm rangefinder (a rare Agfa Optima 1535 Sensor), I approached Sendean as they'd previously repaired a Hasselblad 500C/M for me in the past at their old premises, so I was well aware of their workmanship and timescales, alongside their willingness to complete a job.

They are a little on the pricier side for repairs, however, they will keep you updated at every opportunity, whether that be by phone or email. Of note is the fact that they are willing to go into technical details, and this became relevant in the context of my repair, as upon inspection they discovered that an integral part of the camera's workings had been removed/harvested for parts, which of course came as a surprise to me.

The unforeseen discovery did however push the price of the quote up by a significant amount. That said, Sendean were willing to part-exchange some of my old equipment against the cost of the repair.

Since receiving the camera back, it has functioned perfectly and has been restored to fantastic working condition. While it was very sad to find that my camera my have been robbed for parts by the previous camera repair shop I'd initially approached, Sendean did everything they could to source the required parts and make good on the situation, as well as helping to make it more financially viable for me to go ahead with the repair.

Yes, it was quite expensive, but in return I was guaranteed a fully working camera and I cannot fault the customer service. Thanks again.

After enquiring about receiving a little more information on the servicing work that was undertaken on my Braun Nizo Professional Super 8, I spoke with Andrew, top bloke it has to be said, who kindly took the time out of his day to explain to me in more detail the work that was undertaken on my beloved camera, Andrew knows his stuff. This is the first time I have used Sendean Camera, but will not be my last (I have a Rollieflex SL66 that I am looking to get serviced in the future) Although I have not yet tested the Nizo, I do feel that I can highly recommend Sendean Cameras for their professionalism and technical knowledge for all equipment of the bygone days.

I was first introduced to Sendeans in the mid 60's by a friend in the film business. At that time Sendeans could be found in D'Arblay Street, Soho. I continued to use their services whenever needed and they continued to look after both me and my photographic equipment very well. Sendeans has by now migrated to an address near Columbia Road flower market but their friendliness and high level of service remains as it always has been. It is a pleasure to do business with them.

I sent my Bolex to Sendean for servicing and repair and cannot fault the work carried out. I later spoke to Andrew, one of the analogue technicians, regarding some questions I had about the camera and he was more than happy to answer them.

The AF on my 15 year old Canon 70-200mm F4 L (non IS) failed. I've had it since new and its taken many, many thousands of pics. The common thought is that old Canon lenses can't be repaired so it sat on my desk for a couple of days and nearly went into the bin. Fortunately I found Sendean and sent it to them - and it could be repaired! The lens came back looking almost as new, AF fixed, glass looking pristine, a really brilliant job! So that's the old Canon lenses can't be repaired myth blown, at least for my lens. Really great service from Sendean with an easy drop off and pick up at their office. Highly recommended.

Repaired my broken Nikon AF-S lens that Nikon had told me was obsolete and couldn't be repaired. Lens is now working perfectly and came back to me in absolutely pristine condition.

The job they did for me was not easy and the necessary parts were apparently difficult to source. As a result it took quite a bit of time and was not cheap. Nevertheless the camera had a complete service as well and is now working well. I would have no hesitation in using them again.

Lovely staff, much cheaper than other places i’ve gone to for quotes, camera feels brand new. will definitely use again!!

Very smooth process and pleasant people to deal with

My binoculars needed fixing and Sendean repaired them. They are now better than when I first bought them! Excellent service - very professional and straight forward to deal with. I highly recommend them.

Reviving Equipment

You get used to a particular camera, and after a while begin to love the idiosyncrasies of how your camera works, and the pictures it takes. So when the camera stops working, it's more than an inconvenience; it cuts you off from the way you like to take photographs.

Enter Sender. They can revive your equipment, and through it, your enthusiasm for taking pictures. And they do it efficiently, fairly, transparently, and reasonably. I have had two cameras repaired this summer by Sendean, and they have done a great job in both cases - in the second instance, within ten days so I could go abroad with my favourite Sony DSC-RX100.
