Visited with an aquarium algae issue that I have been unable to clear. Spoke with Gina who took me through a number of options in order to address this. Her knowledge was very extensive in respect of both tanks and welfare and she took the time to show me examples of what I needed in other established tanks. No oressure to buy, in fact she discouraged so until I had been through a full elimination process. Excellent service thank you!!

Went along to the aquatics shop at Valletta farm for some snails. Met two very help full ladies Cecelia and Gina who were absolutely lovely they found me four snails they were so professions and helpful nothing was too much for them I have been in numerous time and met ceceilia before and she is always polite helpful and has exceptional knowledge on marine if you need any assistance go find these two ladies well worth a chat.

Got our first snake, we have been visiting the shop regularly over the last few weeks and asking questions to make sure that was the pet for us. Nigel & the team have been extremely helpful, supportive & our very knowledgeable.

I came in store at 4:40 to buy my daughter a fish tank, a lady called Gina was very helpful and made it easy to choose a tank. I didn't realise the store closed at 5 but she didn't rush me and made sure I picked one I liked. We've set the tank up tonight and my daughter loves it and we cant wait to come and pick our first fish once the tank is ready. The till staff were also very polite!

Popped in with my little boy Arthur(8 months old) looking for a new tank, Celia was more than helpful and so loving towards Arthur!
We sat down and worked out what tank would be best.
We ended up going for a shaker 168l tank. The build quality is great!
I opted for the finance way as it helps on the monthly spending and allows you to have the tank of your dreams.
While sorting the finance out (for about 35 minutes) Celia was great talking and making Arthur laughs.
All the staff that I dealt with in the process of but the tank were fantastic! You can see why Shirley aquatics is one of the best places to buy from.
We also was lucky to by at the right time as they had a discount on the tank.
Can’t wait to go back and get some amazing tropical fish!

Gina and mark helped us today choose our tank and everything we needed to go with it, we was taking our time as so many options however they was very patients and was very helpful we will definitely be buying from here from now on with both there help! I ordered my Beefheart discus food from Shirley Aquatics. Delivered the next day by DHL, came in insulated box with freezer packs in to keep it cold. Arrived perfectly as expected. Also this will be my go to business for my orders now as they’re also seven pounds cheaper than my previous supplier. Thanks to all at Shirley Aquatics for a quality service and customer service too.

Nigel in the reptile section helped my nephew by ordering in and building a chameleon setup with a baby lizard at a really good price (compared to online retailers) Nigel and his fellow reptile staff are friendly and we came away with all the knowledge we needed for a safe and enjoyable life with a reptile. Thanks guys.

I love shirley aquatics and have for decades, from the huge koi ponds to the tiny nano tanks set up to gaze into another world...but this trip was awesome thanks to celia!! I'm redoing a huge paludarium, so looking for bits within budget and size. It's not as easy as it sounds!
From borrowing tape measures, to pricing odd bits of wood for me she made the task easy, and then help to the car! Awesome suggestions to help styling, I could tell she had passion for the hobby and love of her job.
I couldn't recomend anywhere else, it feels like a day trip fun experience going to shirley aquatic not just a shop!

Shirley aquatics has lovely incredible staff i bought 2 sturgeon from them and had one acting a little strange contacted Shirley aquatics and told them my proble calmed my nerves and said everything should be fine and I'm very grateful for all there help and the nat was the person's name and I'm very greatfu

I am very new to keeping koi, I have been to many aquatic companies for advice but have never been made to feel so welcome and have such great advice and knowledge given as I have today by Ron and Phil, I never once felt like anything was to much all questions answered with multiple opinions and guided by them both I feel very confident that I and now on track, many thank to both I really do appreciate your time and knowledge

Had the pleasure of speaking to Ron, today I’ve had a pond water problem, place was vey busy, took a water sample for testing, hi can I help, please can you test this water ,no problem, off Ron go’s you had a water problem, well done, thanks, all with a smile, tick ✅

Brilliant experiance here today, needed a couple of crabs and a lovely lady came up from down stairs ( I can’t remember her name ) she helped me pick to put then demonstrated how to drip them into the water in using a tube. I’d never been told that before. Brilliant service with a smile and some new knowledge :)

As a customer of Shirley's Aquatics for many years, I'm writing this with immense disappointment. I've always supported this local business, despite their prices often being higher than online, valuing their "real world" selection.

However, my recent experience has shattered that loyalty. My daughter received a £25 Christmas 2023 voucher. Such was our family's regular shopping trips that my daughter specifically asked for a gift card for Christmas for Shirley's, and despite visiting the store multiple times over the last 18 months, we simply kept forgetting to bring the voucher with us. Today, July 26th, 2025, we finally remembered it, only to find it expired after just 12 months. While I understand retailers have time limits on vouchers, but I've had positive experiences with other companies honoring or extending them in the past, especially given genuine circumstances. This policy effectively allowed Shirley's Aquatics to take £25 from my family without providing any goods or services in return, the money was simply just taken.

Adding to the frustration, the in-store team was entirely unhelpful, unconcerned, and lacked empathy. Despite explaining our long history and the situation, they simply quoted the "12-month policy" dismissively, offering no assistance or solution.

This entire experience has been profoundly disheartening. It's sad to see a company like Shirley's Aquatics seemingly prioritize chasing profits over genuine customer service and even animal welfare, given the condition of some tanks today. A simple £25 voucher has exposed policies and service that have led to the irreversible loss of a loyal, multi-year customer :(

Hi just wanted to give Shirley aquatics a really good review. We purchased an amazing tank from them and to start with had trouble setting it up.I just called them and spoke to a lovely lady called Celia who couldn’t do enough for us.Thanks for all your help Celia sorry we have been on holiday that’s why the review is late. I’ve ordered from Shirley twice now - both times the fish I wanted were out of stock, and while they did contact me to explain (not just silence), it was only after a lengthy delay of over a week in each case. To be fair, refunds were offered promptly, and the single juvenile Nicaraguan Cichlid I did receive was healthy and well packed.

They clearly care, but their website stock isn’t live, and delays in communication can leave you hanging. Call before you click!

We were interested in having an axolotl as a pet....we knew a bit about them well we thought we did.
We dealt with Nigel through our whole experience which lasted around 6 weeks maybe. Nigel was absolutely fantastic! Cannot praise him enough with the help he gave us! From all his knowledge about these lovely animals.
He helped us with getting the tank ready for the axolotl. We went back every week with a sample of the water and everytime he would test it for us without a bother at all. He even gave us an accessory from the axolots tank to help the process. The water was finally ready and the axolotl was ready to come home. Even at the end he gave us more advice on the up keep of our pet and the feeding instructions so we knew exactly what we were doing once we had our pet home.
Nigel thank you so so so much. We will still be seeing you I'm sure of it.
