LO PEOR QUE LE PUEDE PASAR A QUIEN ALQUILA UN COCHE
La peor experiencia que uno puede tener es con SOLMAR Selec. De todas la veces que he alquilado coches (3 veces al año aproximadamente) ha sido desastroso el trato, la forma cómo se manejan y las atrocidades que cobran.
Hechos:
1. Cuando uno va a alquilar un coche, casi que "le exigen" sacar su seguro, que vale unos €250 aprox. para 20 días como fue mi caso. Si son menos días, la tarifa es similar.
2. Yo tenía un seguro personal, entonces le dije que no quería su seguro. Me dijo la chica que "la franquicia de la tarjeta" era sólo un depósito y que si superaba los €1.200 que me retenían, seguirían cobrándome todo lo que fuera roto o dañado, sin limite! Algo que no sé si el legal siquiera.
3. Cuando pedí explicaciones de esta política (no tiene sentido que te retengan un monto específico si luego te van a cobrar lo que a ellos se les antoje), la supervisora le dijo a quien me estaba atendiendo: "no hables más con él". Así fue el trato en general.
4. Cuando devolví el coche, me cobraron €150 por haberle hecho a 2 de los tapacubos de un Kia Picanto (la categoría más baja de todos los autos que tienen) unos rasguños que en realidad no se si ya no estaban cuando retiré el coche. El juego de 4 tapacubos sale en KIA €20. Un robo fue lo de SOLMAR. Chequean hasta la parte de abajo del coche con un espejo en forma de escoba por si tuvo alguna muesca el piso del vehículo, algo que nadie hace porque es normal que en el uso pueda suceder algo así.
5. Todos los costos son por lo menos un 30% más que las demás tentadoras. Me cobraron €90 por el servicio de repostar el combustible, con un tanque como el Picanto que se llena con €32.
Es una pérdida de tiempo tratar con ellos y hay otras opciones mil veces mejores, aunque sean algunos euros más caras. Record Go fue excelente, y Pulsar también. Sin inconvenientes, rápido, cobraron las tarifas que decían y la devolución fue sin problemas.
SOLMAR Selec es la peor rentadora que yo he conocido. Son estafadores e intentan cobrar por absolutamente todo lo que pueda ser cobrable. Son ética y moralmente despreciables y el trato que le dan al cliente es pésimo. Si desea no amargarse en sus vacaciones, por favor mantenerse alejado de SOLMAR.

ANY OTHER CHEAP COMPANY SUCH AS PULSAR OR RECORDGO IS PERFECTLY FINE (TRIED BOTH) ... BUT SOLMAR WILL END UP COSTING YOU MUCH MORE MONEY AND TROUBLE. THAT SIMPLE. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT.

We booked solmar directly on their website, found it competative. We opted for "Supercover" and paid for it prior to travel on web. When we arrived at Alicante Airport we went downstairs to Bus stop 27-29. Solmar free courtesy minibus collected us, no problem. On arrival at Solmar, it took us 10mins to get our superb opel corsa, staff friendly & helpful. If you have Supercover, you get full-full fuel (no need to pay for petrol),they take copy of your creditcard, they dont take anything off it. Basically if you don't take supercover expect to pay for petrol possibly a block on your card. Lots of customers moaning "thought we had cover when we booked "your a bunch of cowboys" if people just spent a little time researching before travel they would have a hassle free car rental like my wife and I.
Extreme Vorsicht vor dieser Firma. Auf keinen Fall dort ein Fahrzeug buchen.

Durch Auto Europe gebuchter Mietwagen von Mietwagenfirmen Solmar mit gerade zu schon kriminellen Methoden ..
Es werden günstige Angebote inclusive Vollkasko Versicherung angeboten aber die Mietwagen vor Ort nicht ausgegeben wenn nicht noch zusätzlich zum doppelten oder fast dreifachen Preis eine zusätzliche Versicherung abgeschlossen wird. Wir hatten drei gute Kreditkarten dabei und keine wurde akzeptiert da anscheinend nicht gedeckt oder lesbar. Mussten am Flughafen in der Abflughalle übernachten und es am nächsten Tag nochmals versuchen. Ohne Erfolg. Nach stundenlangen Telefonaten zu dementsprechenden hohen Kosten aus dem Ausland mit meinen Kreditinstituten wurde uns von diesen mitgeteilt das stehts das falsche Ablaufdatum eingegeben wird um die Karte zu verweigern. Die bitte doch das richtige Ablaufdatum einzugeben und die Buchung abzuschließen wurde verweigert. Keinerlei Hilfe von Auto Europe . Sie stehen voll hinter diesen Machenschaften. Erst nach 14 Stunden und dem Abschluss einer Zusatzversicherung zum dreifachen des eigentlichen Mietpreises
( Obwohl die Versicherung bereits im Mietpreis enthaltenen war) wurde der Wagen ausgehändigt. Verbrecher. Ach ja ,sofort nach Unterschrift der nicht gewollten und benötigten Zusatzversicherung funktionierte die Kreditkarte wie aus Zauberhand wieder einwandfrei. Nie wieder Solmar und Auto Europe. Zusammen sind die Firmen eine Garantie für extreme Zusatzkosten, Ärger und einen versauten Urlaub.

On arrival at Alicante airport we waited 1 hour for a minibus to the location which is far from the terminal. There was only one SOL MAR rent a car minibus operating and travellers were close to fighting for 1 of the 11 seats in the bus.
Having arrived at their rental shack we spent 2 hours queuing outside in the heat. What a terrible start to the holiday, for us and all the other families suffering from this horrible experience.
On reaching the 1 of 3 service desk they were not happy (at all) that we did not take their expensive SOL MAR rent a car "super cover" insurance. Although they did force me to pay 80euro for fuel, insisting I bring it back empty. A normal fill up cost 40euros.
Finally, after hours of waiting we received a car that was in very average condition
On returning the SOL MAR rent a car at 7am we found the depot shut. We were told very aggressively that they do not open until 8am...at an airport...
We were also told, again very aggressively, that when they did open we would be at the "back of the queue" because we did not take the SOL MAR rent a car "super cover" insurance.
The aggressive person then checked our car and insisted we pay 180euro for damage. Damage that was on the car when it was rented. It was clear from the outset this would happen, but after queueing for 2 hours with children you cannot spend hours checking the car. This is clearly a scam.
solmar.es is the worst experience we've ever had with a car rental company and we wish that we'd read the terrible reviews before booking. Please don't ruin the start of your holiday or worry about missing your flight home.
I recommend that you avoid using SOL MAR rent a car solmar.es at all costs. I hope this review helps somebody make the right choice and stay away from SOL MAR rent a car.

Prisen på deres website lokker kunder til. Når du skal hente bilen kommer der tvungen brændstofgebyr på, og hvis du ikke ønsker deres forsikring, og den tank benzin du har fået med, skal du også betale gebyr for her, selvom du også skal levere retur med fuld tank!! Total rip OFF!!!! Koster hurtigt 1500 kr ekstra for en uge!!!! Lej ALDRIG bil der. Total platfirma. Man har selvrisikodækning på sin rejseforsikring, så lej uden forsikring!

We were treated rudely by their staff after we declined to purchase the excess reduction for an extra 113 euros.
The attendant then stated that if we had an accident or any damage happened to the car we would be charged a 130 euro administration fee (despite the fact that their website stated 65 euros - FALSE ADVERTISING).
On our second day someone scratched the car while it was in the carpark. When we returned the vehicle we were charged the 130 euro fee (not the 65 euro fee stated on their website) + a previously undisclosed 24.20 euro fee for the day they lose on the rental and the 150 euros for the damage repair (I can understand the last part).
But the insult to the injury was the dishonesty with which the employee conducted himself. Solmar clearly state on their website that they charge for the fuel up front (32 euros to fill the tank in our car, plus an exorbitant 40 euro refuelling charge!) and you are to return the vehicle empty. If you return the vehicle with fuel in it then supposedly they refund you up to three quarters of the tank. Don't believe a word of it.
The employee said to me that there was no point in doing the refund because he would have to charge me for the refuelling fee AGAIN (40 euros) before he could refund me for the half a tank (16 euros?) and it wouldn't be worth my while. I'm not a man normally given to public displays of anger, but at this point I lost my temper. EXCUSE me, you expect people to pay a 40 euro refueling fee TWICE in order to get a refund for the fuel they paid for! Their website doesn't say anything about that, and on top of that EVEN if it had a full tank of gas in the car we hired it would only be worth 32 euros! He could tell I was angry and he said he would call the head office and ask them if he could authorise a refund, which I found out was his way of just trying to get rid of me. Three emails later chasing this refund up and I haven't had a single email in response!
This company is unreliable, dishonest, unreasonable and even though they look cheap up front they are expensive to deal with! NEVER USE THEM? Say it to all You know .. Bring it on Facebook etc.
Buy their insurance - or risk scam
We hired a Fiat Doblo from Solmar at Alicante Airport. A company we have used before without problem. They pushed very hard for us to buy insurance but again we refused and they pointed out a notice warning [threatening] it would take 30 minutes to return the car. When we did .return it they very quickly identified a scratch on the underneath of the front bumper and charged me over €200. The Doblo has a high ground clearance and it would have been very difficult to damage it in this way. At the same time, another Brit was returning his car and they inspected the underneath with a mirror, also finding a scratch and charging over €300. Like me, that gentleman was adamant he hadn’t caused the hidden damage but couldn’t prove it. If you are hiring a car in Spain, check it very, very carefully including the underside.
Best to avoid Solmar

Normally a good company and used them many times. Just back from Spain.
Using my UK credit card to pay for carhire they would not allow me to pay in Euros but said it was now company policy to take all payments in the currency of the credit card so it was in GBP.
The markup was around 6% - so I paid 6% more than normal, be aware.

Havde lejet en 5+2 pers.gennem Holiday Autos for 12 dage. Da jeg skulle afhente bilen fik jeg at vide, at prisen på leje af bilen var billig, så derfor skulle jeg betale en høj brændstofpris. Jeg fik prisen på 142€ for diesel (full - empty). (En fuld tank koster 50 € på tankstationen) Jeg ønskede også ekstra fører som ville koste 60€. Ekspedienten var tydelig utilfreds med, at jeg havde tegnet en ekstra selvrisiko forsikring hjemmefra (ca. 80 €), som ikke dækkede det hele. Og da jeg ikke havde "full insurance" vill tingene blive meget besværlige hvad angår afhentning og aflevering. Full insurance kostede 192 €. Da jeg var meget tøvende og jo havde en ekstra forsikring hjemmefra tilbød hun mig gratis ekstra fører, hvis jeg tilkøbte "full insurance". For at komme videre med en utålmodig familie accepterede jeg til sidst "Full insurance". Mine ekstra omkostninger blev derfor 192 € + 50 € for diesel, som var den reelle pris for diesel. Forsikringen som jeg havde tegnet hjemmefra var tabte penge, da den skulle fravælges dagen inden jeg modtog bilen. :-(. noget forsikringselskabet sikkert også er klar over. Solmar er et svindelselskab, som bør politianmeldes efter min mening. En rigtig dårlig start på ferien at blive snydt på sådan en måde.
Hidden charges - take it or leave it - not recomendable - never again
Booked via autoeurope in Munich which is normally good. Super price for 24 hours. At the airport - find out no address on the voucher from Autoeurope and no pick-up point described. My fault I did not spend time checking this from home. Nobody knows where the company is picking up or who they are. Call then and get a vague description where to wait. Bus is on the way. 50 minutes later the bus finally comes. First out of the bus as no luggage but waiting 15 min. in line to get to the counter. At the counter I am presented to choose BASIC COVERAGE or SUPER COVER RATE for extras. I tell them friendly I am totally covered through my Mastercard. But I have to choose. So BASIC meaning bring car back with empty tank. But as I only need it for a picnic to the woods - I will use maybe 10-15 liter Diesel. They will then minimum charge me 50% of a new tank = 30+ euro. So SUPER COVER meaning bring back tank full - but I then still have to pay 66 euro. This is not mentioned anywhere in papers or terms from Auto Europe. The lady tells me if I do not accept either - I can not rent meaning the family ready to go on picnic can unpack and both then and the friends have been waiting in vain. Never again - a shame for the rental industry and making a bad name for Auto Europe.
