No refund, ignoring communication
I purchased tickets for a photo opportunity with a guest at a recent event, the guest cancelled and they offered a full refund as expected.
Firstly they said refunds would be processed before the event, this did not happen.
I then spoke to Sean Harry in person at the event who said refunds would be processed the day after the event.
Lastly by email the promised refunds would be processed by the end of week two post-event.
And still no refund in sight, this was for hundreds of £.
Please do NOT give money to Sean Harry or SF conventions unless you are prepared to lose it.
Can see multiple bank disputes coming their way, absolutely awful treatment.
Breaking News: Sean Harry Has Discovered the Comment Button
There’s nothing I can say about the cancellation of Invasion that hasn’t already been very well explained in some of the other reviews below. However, after what feels like an eternity, Sean Harry has finally decided to grace us all with an update!
And what a grand announcement it was. Not a dedicated post. Not an email. Not even an announcement on the main event page. No, that would apparently be far too straightforward. Instead, we got a Facebook comment — one single comment, buried amongst nearly 300 others, and posted exclusively within the dedicated event group.
Because obviously, when you’ve taken people’s money for an event that has been cancelled, the best way to communicate with those people is to quietly drop a comment into a Facebook group and hope nobody notices.
You’ll also notice that anything relating to his own event cancellations doesn’t seem to be allowed on the main page. Funny, that. Almost as though keeping the cancellations out of sight might prevent people from asking awkward questions. But perhaps I’m just being cynical.
The statement itself is equally impressive. Rather than taking any meaningful responsibility for the situation, the blame appears to have been placed largely at the feet of us — the attendees.
Apparently, refunds couldn’t be issued because too many people started claiming chargebacks, which then resulted in his money being placed on hold. Conveniently, there’s very little mention of how we got to the point where people felt they had no choice but to start pursuing chargebacks in the first place.
There’s also a rather striking absence of the words “I’m sorry”.
No apology for effectively ghosting hundreds of people. No apology for leaving people wondering whether they would ever see their hard-earned money again. No real acknowledgement of the stress and frustration caused by months of silence.
And, of course, no explanation for how someone can apparently be unable to communicate with the people who paid them while still being active within the Facebook group — all while more and more people seem to be discovering that asking difficult questions is a remarkably effective way to get yourself blocked.
But apparently the problem here is the attendees.
The people who paid for the tickets.
The people who supported the event.
The people who trusted the organiser enough to hand over their money.
Yes, clearly we are the problem.
There seems to be a complete lack of accountability for the way this has been handled. Instead, we’re left with a statement that appears to shift responsibility onto the very people who have funded these events, rather than acknowledging that the communication — or, more accurately, the complete lack of it — has been utterly unacceptable.
I’m sorry, but there is absolutely no reasonable justification for taking three months to refund people. There is no excuse for effectively disappearing from the internet while continuing to hold onto people’s money. And there is certainly no excuse for failing to offer a genuine apology for the way this entire situation has been handled.
Nobody expected the event cancellation to be a particularly pleasant experience. Things happen. Events get cancelled. Businesses run into problems. Most reasonable people understand that.
What people don’t understand — and quite rightly don’t accept — is being left in the dark, ignored for months, blamed when they start trying to recover their own money, and then eventually being given an update in the form of a Facebook comment hidden away in a group.
Even if, by some miracle, everyone eventually gets their money back, I can say with absolute certainty that I will never attend another one of Sean Harry’s events again.
Because at this point, it’s not simply the cancellation of Invasion that has left such a bad taste in my mouth. It’s the way the people who paid for it have been treated afterwards.
Months of silence followed by a buried Facebook comment isn’t customer service.
It’s damage control.
A Modern-Day Snake Oil Salesman
Still waiting on refunds, and now have been removed from Facebook groups (the only way to communicate with the organiser in a public setting) due to encouraging people to seek refunds via their banks.
When everything is going well for Starfury, they run a great convention. But when things go badly (which is a part of any event organisation), they disappear completely. They ignore people, keep their money, and become a ghost. Invest your money in their events if you wish, but know that it's a huge risk. You likely won't be getting your money back even if they choose to cancel the show meer days before it's due to take place for unspecified reasons.
Will cancel the event & not refund you
Starfury cancelled its Star Wars convention, Invasion, just two days before it was due to take place in June 2026. At the time of writing, in September 2026, the majority of attendees are still waiting for their refunds.
While I have fortunately received a refund for my convention ticket, both my partner and I are still waiting for hundreds of pounds in photo and autograph refunds. I also know numerous attendees who have yet to receive any money back at all.
The handling of the refunds has been inconsistent and communication has been extremely poor. Updates have sometimes claimed that refunds for particular ticket types had been processed, despite many people with those ticket types still receiving nothing. Promised deadlines have repeatedly shifted to "next week" or "the end of the month", only for those dates to pass without resolution.
What I find particularly unprofessional is the lack of communication from Sean Harry. Given his many years of experience organising conventions, attendees should reasonably expect a clear and consistent approach to handling a situation of this scale. Instead, there have been long periods of silence, with emails and questions in the convention group going unanswered. Even more concerning is that some attendees have been blocked from the group after questioning the status of their refunds. Regardless of how difficult the situation may be, blocking customers who are simply asking where their money is does nothing to resolve the issue and further undermines confidence in the way this has been handled.
The cancellation itself was also extremely disruptive, coming so close to the event that many attendees were unable to recover the cost of hotels, train tickets and flights. Given the timing, these additional financial losses were significant for many people. The explanation provided for the cancellation was, in my view, inadequate, particularly considering how close it was to the event.
This has been an incredibly frustrating experience, not just for me but for many other attendees. More concerningly, there are reports from people who say they have experienced similar refund issues with previous cancelled Starfury events, suggesting this may not be an isolated incident.
If you are considering attending a future Starfury event, I would strongly recommend doing your research and carefully considering whether you are comfortable taking the financial risk. Based on my experience and that of many other attendees, I would never trust a Starfury event again.
Cancellation Nightmare
The event organizer Sean Harry cancelled Starfury Invasion 2026 abruptly two days before it was scheduled to begin. No reason was given for the cancellation beyond “unforeseen events”. International guests were planning to go from all over the world. Hilton Hotel Birmingham were great and cancelled the hotel reservations without problems, but Harry himself has been extremely slow to refund tickets. Although event tickets were refunded, autograph and photo op tickets were not, despite numerous requests. He has also hosted new events after.
Given this unbelievable experience I have lost all trust in Starfury Conventions and would urge everyone to proceed with caution when considering attending future events. Sean Harry himself owes everyone who bought tickets for Starfury Invasion 2026 an apology, real reason for the cancellation and prompt refunds for tickets. Instead he has chosen silence.
Updated from disappointment to joy
UPDATE FOLLOWING THE CONVENTION
I am updating my review of Starfury Conventions following the Ascension Stargate convention.
After our initial conversations and email exchanges, Starfury Conventions very kindly extended the courtesy of three tickets to us: one for my mother, who lives with Alzheimer’s and uses a wheelchair, and two for her carers, myself and my husband.
I must say that this act of genuine kindness was unexpected. By that point, I was no longer hoping that we would even have the opportunity to buy tickets and attend. By doing this, they demonstrated to me that there is consideration for people with disabilities and their individual circumstances, and I believe it is only fair that I acknowledge and thank them for this.
Throughout the event, the majority of the volunteers and stewards we encountered were also very kind and helpful towards people with disabilities. More generally, the atmosphere of the convention seemed positive, and people appeared genuinely happy and excited to be there.
I am not personally a Stargate convention fan; the reason I attended was for my mother. Perhaps this allows me to look at the event from a slightly different perspective. I therefore don’t think this would be a truthful or useful review if I didn’t also mention a few things that I believe could be improved.
Firstly, card payments. It was very frustrating to queue for autographs, get inside and then discover that we couldn’t purchase the photographs my mother wanted to have signed because payment was cash only. In 2026, I really think some form of card payment should be available, particularly when attendees are already inside and have queued for the opportunity.
Secondly, and much more importantly, wheelchair accessibility and safety in the main hall.
There is a reason why wheelchair users are often positioned in designated accessible areas with clear routes to an exit. At this event, however, wheelchair users could find themselves positioned amongst tables and rows of chairs, while holders of the more expensive ticket categories occupied the areas at the front.
For my mother, this meant sitting in her wheelchair surrounded by furniture, without an easy and immediate route out. Fortunately, because of her care needs, we are prepared for situations where reaching a toilet immediately isn’t possible. But that really isn’t the point.
A wheelchair user should not have to rely on other people moving chairs and potentially tables before they can leave an area. If somebody suddenly needed the toilet, experienced anxiety or panic, became unwell, or if there were an emergency requiring people to leave quickly, having a clear accessible route could become extremely important.
I sincerely hope Starfury takes this point seriously. Accessibility should not simply mean that a wheelchair can physically enter the room; it should mean that the person can move around and leave safely and with dignity.
Finally, I would also mention the handling of the microphones during the audience Q&A sessions. The lady managing the microphone appeared quite stressed at times, and there were occasions when the microphone seemed to be taken from audience members rather abruptly. Perhaps a slightly calmer and friendlier approach would make the Q&A experience more comfortable for everyone.
So this is my updated and, I hope, balanced review. Starfury surprised us with an extremely kind gesture that allowed my mother to attend something she had wanted to experience, and most of the volunteers we encountered treated us kindly. I genuinely appreciate that.
At the same time, there are practical areas—particularly wheelchair positioning, clear exit routes and accessibility—that I hope they will reconsider for future conventions.
If you decide to attend another Starfury Convention, I wish you a wonderful time, and I hope that whatever ticket you purchase and whatever expectations you have, the experience fulfils them.
Event canceled 2 days before and waiting refund 2 months
I traveled all the way from other country for this event, only for it to be cancelled just two days before it was supposed to happen. Just four days before, you were urging people to buy tickets quickly because they were close to selling out. I paid in a foreign currency, I'm losing about 10% on the refund due to exchange rates—I'm probably out around 50 pounds in total. This is the worst. I wish you had processed the refunds much sooner. After I complained about all of this, I got blocked from the community Facebook page. I haven't even received my full refund yet, but you sure are fast when it comes to blocking people!
28 Aug still no refunded
Book at your own peril
Book at your own peril.
My wife and I had been to two previous Starfury Events and had a good time. Staff were hit and miss, with most being friendly but others rude.
We had booked for the Starfury Invasion event for this year. It was obvious that there were issues leading up to the event, with the late announcement of guests and late release of the hotel booking link.
The organiser cancelled the event two days prior to it being scheduled, after admitting that there had been issues for weeks.
Refunds were promised to start the next week. Long story short, we only received our after contacting the bank. People asking for an update on refunds, us included, were blocked from the Facebook group. To date, six weeks later, people are still saying they are waiting for refunds.
If you choose to attend an event run by Starfury, make sure to book hotels / parking with the cancellation option.
Personally, we are never going to another Starfury run event.
Simply scandalous!
Simply scandalous!
Last year I bought the gold ticket for the "modest" sum of 320 euros for Lux4, of which there was still no certainty for the guests.
In June 2026, we were told that it will be moved and that everything will be communicated via mail within a week, no mail arrived, and after two months, me and other people wrote on a post with a different topic, because they didn't respond to the Lux4 post, and they deleted all our comments without giving us any response, we rewrote them again and in addition to deleting them, again, they also blocked us.
Do you block a customer who paid you 320 euros? A customer waiting for news that he'll never see because you blocked him?
I wrote in a mail that I wanted my ticket to be refunded, because such behaviour is unacceptable, and I was told that I was rude and hostile, the same motivation given to others.
I see these comments that "dear" Sean has made worse... scandalous and outraged treating people like this
H9 - a weekend to remember!
I attended Highlanders 9 this weekend, and what a weekend it's been! This is my 7th Highlanders event and each and every one of them has been amazing. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the line up of guests superb. Looking forward to H10 next year!
GREAT FUN EVENTS
I've been attending Starfury events since 2013 and have had some of the best times ever at them. I made alot of fabulous new friends not just attendees but staff aswell. So much so, I don't just attend to meet the guests that they've booked. The weekends are always run very well with many volunteers helping out. Staff are approachable and friendly and Starfury have a great accessibility service to help those that need it. It's a very inclusive environment. My most recent event was Warp 2 and I now cannot wait for Warp 3!
Been to many starfury events over many…
Been to many starfury events over many years in both London Birmingham and I think one in Blackpool once, staff are 10 out of 10, Sean Harry is always there sharply dressed keeping the show running, great dynamic of pay for your ticket and standard guest sign for free bonus guest are free with a gold ticket. Free Q&A talks which are brilliant. Keep up the good events
I am shocked with the very poor treatment of others!
I am shocked with the very poor treatment of attendee's of the event company. Starfury should hold their heads in shame!
I attended Warp 2 this year, my GF gave an honest 1 star review she got bullied by the staff for it and they allowed other attendee to join in!
The treatment she got was out of order and now Starfury have shafted others. I hope you get sued or something now!
Avoid at all costs
I had previously attended an event last year which was okay (the best part was the people) most of the event we were sat with nothing to do, waiting for the next panel to start.
Another criticism I had during the event were the staff, they were shouting constantly, were not helpful if you asked a question and were generally rude, I witnessed a staff member have a very aggressive attitude towards my friend over their badge not being visible when it was pinned to their clothing, yet I was still rummaging for mine in my bag.
Not to mention the anxiety I had during panels over how they staff would act if someone had their phone out (I understand no filming) but I needed my phone to check my glucose levels, I felt I had to be cautious as I'd heard things about other people being kicked out of the convention for the same reason.
For the most part I did enjoy myself so during the last event such as the parties and they cosplay competition, as well as meeting guests and having photos with them.
Sean encouraged people to buy tickets for the next one as he'd been trying to get a big actor and as it would have been my birthday during the next one I decided to treat myself..
Cut to this year.
After months of no news and little to no guests announced the event was postponed so me and others wanted a refund. Several emails were sent with no reply. Eventually after going on the Facebook page to get a response we received promises that refunds would be issued to us. Would repeatedly tell us that refunds would be issued the following week but received nothing. During this period a new date was announced. Had to do a chargeback via my bank for a refund.
On top of this, the behaviour I witnessed towards my friend was vile, claiming she was being "nasty" after calmly asking when she'd receive a refund and even threatened to not give her one because of this, then the person emailing claimed they were not Sean saying he doesn't deal with emails..yet the tone and grammar was the exact same when he had replied elsewhere.
Comments and posts are also deleted if you tried to criticise anything or help other people who are struggling with getting refunds.
Do not give them your money, you'll have to fight to get it back and be met with constant lies.

My daughter got accused by sean of something she hadn't done a few years ago, he kicked her off the site. Terrible experience and very nasty.
Sharing My Experience to Help Others
Finally obtained a refund through a chargeback after months of ignored communication, broken promises, and misleading information. To anyone currently dealing with the same situation I experienced, I understand how stressful and frustrating it can be. You're not alone, and I hope sharing my experience helps others navigate it.
I was repeatedly told that my refund was being processed, yet no refund arrived. Several weeks later, I contacted Sean again and was told once more that the refund was being processed "today". Despite being told multiple times that action had been taken, nothing actually happened until I involved my bank.
Sean explicitly stated, "We will offer you a full refund if you can't make the new dates," but that promise was never honoured. I was given references to a 28-day response and refund policy, yet those timescales were not followed. I waited well beyond the stated timeframe before pursuing a chargeback. The fact this is happening to so many people is absolutely appalling.
The communication throughout was vague and inconsistent. Instead of receiving clear updates or an apology for the inconvenience, I was met with defensive and insulting responses such as "nasty", "rude", and "aggressive" when I challenged the situation. At no point did I insult or attack anyone; I simply wanted answers regarding my refund.
I was also disappointed to see criticism dismissed as "attacks" while negative comments and refund-related discussions were removed from social media. I was even threatened with having my refund withheld and contest my actions simply because I spoke up and shared my opinion.
Despite claiming that he doesn't handle emails or refunds, he signed one of the emails and has publicly stated on FB that he is processing refunds.
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise anyone experiencing similar issues to contact their bank and explore the chargeback process rather than relying solely on promises, I wouldn't trust him at all.
Sean Harry – I would recommend improving on both your poor customer service and communication practices. Integrity, kindness and honesty costs nothing, but losing a customer's trust costs everything.
I'm sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision before booking. Will not be going again or recommending to anyone.
Do not buy tickets from this company.

I am having problems getting a refund for a event.
I wished id have looked at some reviews beforehand then i would not have used my well earned money to put into the hands of this company.
Im looking into how i can get my money back at my building society. .
They say to me i will have a refund but its always false promises.
If I could go less that 1 I would
If I could leave less that 1 review then I would.
I spent over a month attempting to communicate with them and finally resulted in going on FB to try and get help from Sean Harry, hoping he would understand and talk however I received a different reason every comment and I came away more frustrated each time. Sean said he's not responsible so I asked who is and received no response.
I left another message asking for contact details and received a a bunch of abuse from the group he is admin for, a few agreed with me but the rest did not, so I turned off commenting. Unfortunately Sean turned it back on saying if I turned off commenting it would be deleted and I would be removed from the group "Wayne style" so I deleted the post and left the group. I had tried to talk to him but he wasn't interested in helping.
I left a review and finally he emailed me, saying I was rude and abusive and my review was a personal attack on him, I suppose as the owner of the company......
His final response in the email was this statement
" I had planned to do so, but based on your behaviour today, I have decided against doing so, and it will not be in my best interest to give a refund in this case"
Making this a very personal attack not only on myself but my sister

Antwoord van Starfury Conventions
Awful company and attitude.
Awful company and attitude.
Event had been rearranged. I couldn’t attended and was waiting for refunds for months.
Emailed, left Facebook messages and had no reply.
This company is not trustworthy and sadly the Facebook groups are just full of sheeple who bleat the same rubbish and suck up to Sean Harry because they are so desperate to meet the celebrities.
Anyone who questions the right to prompt refunds gets banned.
Pathetic
Starfury Warp 2 was amazing!
I have been to two Starfury conventions so far, Warp 1 and 2, and found them to be the most fun, laid back and entertaining cons I’ve been to in years.
The staff are so friendly and helpful, and supportive with any issue, e.g. with questions / worries about missing autos or photos.
The guest line up was great, they clearly had a lot of fun - some specifically called out Warp 2 had been one of the best cons with the greatest attendees and questions they’d seen.
A fun theme disco was held each night for the party people and for me, I signed up for a few of the fan meets (extra cost) which gave a closer insight into some of the guests.
Would gladly go to another event (hope there’s a Warp 3 please) and would definitely recommend to any fan.
