Swindon Borough Council Reviews 

I don’t usually write reviews but I am absolutely shocked by Swindon borough council! I moved to Swindon in July last year and it took 3 months for them to supply us with a general waste wheelie bin, no remorse shown or help given. They had also made us pay the full years council tax from even though we moved here on the 28th of July! Our bins have always been left for ages without being emptied, and when they are rubbish is all over the road. We went away on Monday the 29th of Jan and came back today (1st of Feb) to see our bin hadn’t been emptied by everyone else on the street had. I went to report this and apparently it’s too late??? It’s been 2 days. Absolutely shocking.

Recycling collection 8 days later not fully collected. Rude staff at SBC. Why do we even pay council tax as the service provide by actually every part of SBC is worse than 1 in scale of 1000.

So many missed waste collections, it's unreal.
So much rubbish blowing around the streets for the weeks you told us to leave it outside, In poorly conceived, very light fabric sacks? You couldn't make this up.
Get a grip!

Waste collection 99pc success? Who are you kidding SBC? Need time to learn the routes? You've been driving these roads for years. Never heard of sat nav? And when might our rubbish be collected in the Ferndale road area? You insist on politeness when we contact you so how about reciprocating by keeping us informed? And "bear with us" is not keeping us informed. Abysmal performance.

This is the 2 second time bin hasn't been emptied it's a disgrace don't know why we pay council tax when we don't get the service we are fuming about this being fobbed off

Scammed by the bus lane whilst visiting the shopping outlet from out of the area! Choose another area to shop in, there are plenty of outlets throughout the South where you won't incur a fine! Seems this is a recurring problem from what I've read and a great moneyspinner for the Council!!

Lucky they are getting a star they came to sort out the bath room got told on the phone night before that if we need the loo they would turn the water back on they came today and refused to turn it on which is inhumane honestly this council treats people in Swindon like we are living in 1940’s Germany also called them and they disrespectfully hang up the phone they really are a bunch of dumbos who don’t know what they are doing

We will never use swindon council again we requested collection of 2 bulky items at the cost of £67.collection day should of been 23rd June collection day never happened. we phoned were told the workman couldn't see the large Fridge freezer 3 seater sofa. So we rang again. Reluctantly they gave me another date then same happend 4 times so after endless phone calls and complaints they sent the staff to spec savers and hey collection day happend one month later.

I rang Swindon council emergency phone line. The lady on the phone was very helpful. I got an engineer out straight away to fix my lock on my front door. Didn't have to wait long. Well done, Swindon council.

Awful experience visiting Swindon outlet village and receiving two fines in one day for going in and out the car park via a bus lane £70 per offence which is extremely poorly signed. I read on Tripadvisor the council catch out 27k drivers a year. I won't be returning to Swindon!

1 star is WAY to much.A worthless council who don't care about people. Bullying people about council tax,not collecting the bins,stuff that work for council damage private property(from the guys who cut the grass to the ones collect the waste).Complaints don't do anything.They don't answer,or if they do is just an avoidance answer about your problems.Calling as well don't do nothing,From not answering the phone l, stuff English language is very poor,as well they don't know what to answer to your enquiry,they know just to take your payment details.If call and answer and have a big issue suddenly hang up on you and don't bother to answer anymore unless you hide the number and suddenly answer.Very rude people.

I recently needed to make an adjustment to my council tax. I rang SBC and, I believe, may have received the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I asked my questions and it was immediately obvious the gentleman I was speaking with did not know the answer. He made an obscure reference to the law and I questioned why he had even mentioned a matter that was off topic, in response he started shouting "I know the law, I know the law". A couple of issues here, I did not mention, or introduce the subject of law into the conversation, secondly, I think it is not unreasonable to suggest that as someone working in a call centre, the gentleman concerned is, on balance, not likely to be a solicitor, barrister or indeed a KC, so why would he think it appropriate to make a claim regarding legal knowledge? Suffice to say the issue was resolved by me asking the questions online and, a mere six months later I received a reply. (For clarity, the date of this incident is so much earlier than my review as has taken a considerable time, as mentioned above, to get a response).

Borough supporting the modern slavery (unless brain disabled persons are employed there):
- on the territory it supports/tolerates operation of ALDI warehouse where workers rights are daily abused.
SLAVERY supporters.

I came back to Rodbourne Cheney and the Co-Operative Store has closed down permanently! Swindon Borough Council make it impossible to contact them. They do it on purpose because they don't want to hear from riff raff who might have a complaint/query, forgetting that it's the riff raff who pay their wages. Not only has the food store gone but the Post Office as well.

Repair team is as uselless after telling them about water heater breaking for the 9th time since being installed,Cathy and her colleague have decided that is not an emergency when a disabled person has an accident they should just sit on it until tomorrow after 9am to ring to have an appointment whenever available
The first "adviser" hanged up on me because she couldn't comprehend there is no gas on the property and kept asking me if it was cut off, I told her about 5 times there has never been gas but because I wasn't answering her question she hanged up
I ring again and Cathy says is not SBC policy to come and put the hot water on even though they have had to come as an emergency before and I could hear her colleague telling her to say no to me as soon as she realised it was me who she was talking to
So you have to mean old women to help vulnerable customers on an emergency, so appropriate for SBC repair team, I am happy in the knwoledge that they must have really miserable life and personalities to be sooo awful

Shocking concil who don’t care about anyone or anything!!! Complaints sent to the CEO and on line and nothing acknowledged or replied to weeks later!

my elderly mother has been waiting 3 weeks to have the central heating repaired, ive had to hire 2 gas heaters to keep the house warm, the first guy who turned up 2 weeks ago spent 3 hours messing about , and then decided he couldnt do anything, and that it wasnt his normal job , as he only done gas checks , days later another guy turns up , after id been on the phone several times until someone finally answered , this time the guy spent 20 minutes messing about, until he decided that all the radiators would have to be removed and cleaned out and that it was a days job , so today 12th december, i was told that the radiators would be removed and that it would all be sorted out, and that the engineers would stay until the job was finished, what a joke, after spending an hour at 7 am this morning moving furniture etc to make access for then, they didnt even turn up ! and now its 11.30 i doubt they will, as no doubt by mid day theyll most proberly be heading back to the council depot after a hard days work, swindon council are a total disgrace, they all need sacking and new management in to sort everything out, in the mean time i guess ill have carry on using the gas heaters that ive hired

I used to live in Swindom and just returned for the first time in years. The is so run down. I had some time to kill before the train so went to the library to read and have a coffee. The cafe there appears to have shut in December 2019 never to reopen. Being a man of a certain age I needed the loo. Disabled loos only. Swindon Council, knowing the needs of older gentlemen isn't this an ageist policy?

Absolute waste of time money space and effort. Lack of communication and the ability to stick to simple timescales. Makes you wonder who's pockets I'm lining... disgraceful

A very rude and abrupt individual! No answer from any other of the Swindon numbers. It seems after 4pm they all decided to go home! Not happy. Why is there not a direct number for Swindon social services??!!
