Swindon borough council sends letter to an 67 years old threatening her with prison.

One star is to much. Absolutely a waste of time. How do they get away with it. Left on hold for ages when phoning. Emails get you nowhere No one answers them. Terrible service from repairs. Terrible service from housing officer. Is no one held accountable for this sham of a council.

What a joke SBC is. Rang repairs.waited 40 minutes on the phone. Got no response only "we are experiencing a higher volume of calls than usual.... Etc etc etc...."

Well answer phone, sort out your problems and people MIGHT like SBC. As it stands they are useless.

Tried calling again. Another 30+ minutes wasted... Still no answer. Are they still using COVID as an excuse not to respond to people's problems.

Terrible website truly not understanding the modern day use of website cookies or any kind of useful interface!
Spent 2 hours filling out forms only to have all the work destroyed twice by them not being tech literate enough to have anything save on a very bearly functional website...

Absolutely frustrating. Parial Recycling not picked up last week and they don't allow you to raise it after 24 hours. No way of contacting them in writing / opening a case.

Why do they think its OK to send you to Cheney Manor when they don't collect things

Both Swindon and Wiltshire CC went down hill rapidly during Covid, with everybody (supposedly) working from home. The waiting times for customer service are now beyond dreadful. I can only assume this is because they're all still working from home, have no work ethic or are just terribly organised. My sister who lives in Dorset says that Dorset CC are really efficient.

It seems by the review that I am not the only one. The positioning of road signs is a disgrace. Out of my 2 fines in 10 years both have been Swindon (which I visit once or twice a year). The last is the outlet bus lane which has a sign so high and facing the wrong way that you cannot see it until in the red bus lane. when you realise your mistake do you stop and reverse onto a main road or carry on and get a fine.

wish i could give zero. council tax £127 a month then took £539.17 and again on 5th jan took anothr £540.00
called them and said i would have to make a claim and they have 2 months to reply.......... cancelled direct debit. worst ever experiance i have ever had. ZERO for SBC.

Bus gate fine at Swindon outlets is disgusting scam
I came to shop at Swindon outlets and spend money but was hit with £30 fine.
I can promise I will never come back to the outlets or Swindon.
It’s a scam because there is no discretion, no appreciation of decent people making mistakes - just a money generator.

Second parking fine in 4 weeks because of limited parking in those areas (for work and home.) Maybe instead of wasting your money on useless crap that isnt that necessary, spend it on building parking areas for streets that either done have anywhere to park or for streets that just have too many cars so other households cant park because there's a house with 4 cars!

Seriously, sort it out!

I spent a lot of time and effort proving we couldn’t afford their extortion tax, they finally agreed, then went back in their word!! They couldn’t care less. They will spend a fortune of our money to take you to court to claim back a penny. And slap on hundreds of pounds in threatening courts legal costs. We had to take out loans and beg/borrow to pay them. EVIL!!! What about caravan dwellers?? They don’t get forced to pay!!! So that’s what I’m going to do. HATE THEM!!!! Disgusting THIEVES!!!

I currently work for a housing association (won't name and shame) but live in a council property.

People complain about council properties, but they honestly don't realise how lucky they/we are!!!

The phones are answered quick, service is good, the rent is cheaper, complaints are dealt with, and repairs dealt with relatively quickly. This is honestly the polar opposite to what I've experienced elsewhere where a housing association very unfairly increases rent and surges their service charges up in excess of £100 a month in the April following a home ownership purchase! The council are not money grabbing and very much affordable!

Anyone living in a council property needs to start thinking themselves lucky.

I watched some footage of some urban explorers who gained access to the Mechanical Institute in Emlyn Square.
Very good but the building is beyond repair and scaffolding has been erected to prevent it from collapsing.
I was astonished to see during this footage that a brand new kitchen and bathroom has been carefully installed in the heart of all this rubble! Also a large quantity of fire doors and other building materials have been bought from Hawksworth Industrial Estate! Was this a futile attempt at renovation before the builders gave up and down-tooled? They would have been transported through the crumbling terrain of the building before being built!
These materials are not cheap! What a scandalous waste of public money!!
I would be intrigued to hear the rationale of this operation!

Even something as simple as paying council tax uses archaic and difficult systems. Got tired of the internet/phone payment system - doesn't even let you check your account to see what you have left - so I tried to set up a direct debit, but you have to print off a form and put it in the post. What is this, the 20th C? And phoning them up is an ordeal, endless options, staff who don't understand or speak English very well, and different answers each time you call. I know it's a thankless job but it's a vital service and should be better managed!

I have had multiple dealings with Swindon Borough Council and all have been dealt with efficiently and quickly.

I had to give one star as it wouldn’t let me give none! What an absolute rubbish council, customer service atrocious and their refuse collection teams are idle jobsworths. Left cardboard recycling on the street even though it was flat packed and ready to take all because it wouldn’t fit in those stupid little black boxes they provide. Other crews have taken cardboard recycling in the past and never had an issue under Wiltshire council, clearly swindon BC think they’re above reproach. Jobsworth idle money grabbers! It’s about time Wiltshire council took control and we stopped Swindon Borough Council from operating altogether. I’ve not met a single person with anything good to say about them!
