Paid up front for kiln dried boards told 6-7 weeks contacted them on 6th September phone went straight to 'leaveba message' which I did. No return call. Emailed company on 7th no reply emailed Tarry from the company on 9th no reply. Company had shut down and Marc Bear has now opened another company using same address which is registered with companies house (this is no. 6) Have contacted bank to reclaim money have also contacted police. If you see Marc Bear as CEO run a mile he is absolute scum and has no scruples what so ever.

I ordered timber sleepers on the 11th June and still haven't received them to date, no communication from the company, I wanted to use a local company and now wish I hadn't. will never use this company again stay away if need anything quickly!!!!!!!!!!!. They also took full payment for something I still don't have

The company has ceased trading.

Search Facebook for catalogue of customers owed hundreds of thousands. Avoid at all costs.

So disappointed in the workmanship of the doors and frames, confirmed times made by the company still waiting for the doors to be installed with the frame even though I paid for them back in June 2024

Like a few others it seems, have paid for goods in April and never received, have been waiting since for nearly 8k of timber, my advice to anyone reading reviews is to avoid this company and the new company Marc appears to be setting up South West Timber Ltd to name one, the director is smart and making it all look good. but he also knows how to play the game, so he can live the high life

IT IS A SCAM. THEY TAKE MONEY FOR ORDERS THEN GO BUST.
THE STAFF, PAUL AND TARRY, WHO I DEALT WITH ARE FULLY AWARE AND CONTINUE TO TAKE ORDERS.

Avoid this company completely, you will never get paid, never get product, never get refunded. The CEO Marc doesn’t know how to run a company and instead scams people from their money to keep it running.

Employees won’t get paid and blames them for mistakes within his company. I would maybe look at pointing fingers elsewhere, maybe the manager?

Goods ordered and paid for not delivered- visited their premises today and it appears they are no longer there or ceased trading. Unable to make contact and they are not responding to emails or messages.

SCAM company. I ordered £4950 worth oak garage doors, multiple calls and emails chasing, lies from the owner Marc Bear that he will deliver in 3 weeks, until he got the payment, then multiple lies from Paul Gardiner that the doors are just being manufactured and delivery will be soon. Last call on Friday 9th August from Paul Gardiner promising delivery, if “you ring us on Monday” - but no answers on phone calls from Monday 12th August. Marc Bear hung up his phone numerous times.
I am going to Small Court claim to get a CCJ and asked Citizen Advice to inform Trading Standards.

Similar experience to many others, should have had a call last week to advise delivery date for this week of an oak-frame gazebo. I’ve had no contact, and it seems that now there’s no way of contacting them. Marc Bear’s mobile no. is not being answered either. I thought I’d done my due diligence by visiting them in June before ordering and all seemed ok, lots of work underway and a busy office. No idea what’s changed but thankfully I paid by credit card so can do a Section 75 claim. Maybe Rogue Traders would be interested?

Agree with below reviews. Absolute scam. Alot of dodgy salesman who promise to email back 30 minutes later and are very apologetic, however wood never delivered and emails never recieved. Thank god I paid with my credit card so could get a charge back. Might seem like cheaper wood but I would avoid this company at all costs. Still can't decide if this is a terribly run company or a bonafied scam fake company. Will be checking trustpilot more carefully in future.

The biggest Con from the largest Sham company you’ll ever come across!! Launceston Timber Company advertise timber for sale on their website with short lead times (that they’ll never deliver); they advertise all methods of payment but when you’ve gone through their scam sales process, they say they can only accept Bacs (knowing you can’t do a charge back when your items don’t arrive!); they employ dodgy salesmen on commission & then it’s a catalogue of lies to keep fobbing you off!! Watch out for their new company name because the owner liquidates his company every 2 or so years, then sets up a near identical one to do it all again.
His sham operation involves posting fake positive reviews on Trust Pilot. No company has so many 5 star reviews from first time reviewers. This is impossible & makes a mockery of Trust Pilot & all the genuine businesses who work hard for customer satisfaction.
Avoid any timber company led by these frauds!!

SCAM COMPANY - FAKE POSITIVE REVIEWS
This company is FRAUDULENT - the only method of payment is BACS so that you can't complain to your credit card company after they take your money. They have no intention of ever delivering your order. The salesman on the phone will promise you the world but you will get nothing - BE WARNED!

I am writing this as a warning to other potential customers. Please do not be fooled by the prices on their timber and products.
I ordered timber that was supposed to be kiln dried and it turned out to have a moisture content of over 30% and was completely unusable. No reputable timber company would do this and through communication with others, I know I'm not the only one to have been caught like this.
Further research of the company shows an owner that has had at least two other timber companies go in to liquidation.
I've had dealings with many timber companies over a 35 year span and have never, until now, encountered one that seems to have a total lack of integrity. So be very careful before you part with your money.

AVOID. 6 weeks later no order could even be traced, asked to speak to a manager no one would speak to me. Never known a company not want to try and resolve an issue, or just point blank ignore someone. I had to chase for 2 weeks with no response but “call back tomorrow”. To top it off I have had to email there own accounts team information for a refund. Absolutely shocking customer service can’t think how they do any business

I bought an oak gazebo from Launceston Timber, it's beautiful!

The guys were really helpful and it was delivered on time.

Will be using the ltc again in future, highly recommended!

Bought some cedar shingles which were perfect for the green oak wildlife tower we're building.

Absolutely rubbish!! DO NOT USE!! I am not one for leaving reviews, but the way I have been treated. I want to warn others!!
0/10 for communication after being told multiple times from Staff members, Ben, Paul and Thomas they will get back to me I never once had a phone call back.
0/10 reliability. After 3 delivery's being cancelled with bullsh*t excuses. I was behind on project before I actually started. I have had to wait 4 weeks to receive my money back, and being totally honest I was surprised I have had it back at all, after learning the MD has a history of ripping people off and putting other companies into liquidation. Do your research before thinking about using this company. I WISH I DID!!
