I recently completed the Train The Trainer course led by Lorraine Walsh. I was wary about doing this course online but the course material and, in particular, Lorraine’s guidance made it great learning experience.

Very understanding and supportive tutors, the course was very well designed, comprehensive and at a good pace. The projects were very dynamic and I liked that they stimulated extra research.
My tutor was Lorraine Walsh and my course was Train the Trainer - which I chose to upskill since my previous teaching experience was not as desired.
This course helped me regain the confidence I lost while pursuing my Master's Degree and a pedagogical certificate.
Overall, I couldn't recommend it more. It is an excellent experience that enriched my skill set and basically reminded me of how much I enjoy teaching and training.

I completed 3 online courses at The Open College, and I must say it was a positive learning experience overall. The course was straightforward and well-structured, making it easy to follow along and grasp the concepts. The lecturers were highly responsive and helpful, always willing to provide guidance whenever needed, which made the learning process smooth and enjoyable.

The course content was presented in a clear and concise manner, making it easy to understand and apply the knowledge gained. The assignments provided a great opportunity to apply what I had learned, and I found them to be appropriately challenging without being overwhelming.

One aspect that left me slightly disappointed was the time it took to receive my certification. While I received provisional results within 6 weeks, I had to wait for over 7 months to finally get my certification. I understand that this might be beyond the control of the college, but it was still frustrating to wait for such an extended period.

Despite the certification delay, I would still recommend The Open College to others seeking online courses. The quality of the course, supportive lecturers, and ease of understanding the materials outweighed the certification wait time. With the valuable knowledge and skills acquired, I feel well-prepared to apply what I've learned to my professional endeavors.

In conclusion, The Open College offers commendable online courses that are accessible and informative. I appreciate the knowledge I gained from the course and the assistance provided by the lecturers. If the certification waiting time can be addressed, it would further enhance the overall experience for students like myself.

Unfortunately had few issues with them. I send paperwork but I was told they didn't receive. I was told 2 months for every modules.so on the last module I was only given 4 weeks.so other 4 weeks just disappeared. They wanted my to apply for extension. Was big no no. Eventually after all arguments they got it sorted. Now 7 months I am waiting for my diploma. My employer keeps asking for diploma but I still haven't got. If you can afford go to classes do it. Don't do it online with the open college. It's much easier and you be guaranteed diploma straight away after you finish college. Not like here.

Completed a BA Hons degree in Health and Social care with The Open College. Lecturers were helpful, accessible and willing to help at every step. Easy monthly payment options make the degree more accessible to adult learners. Overall a great experience returning to education as an adult.

Sign up was easy, course was well laid out. Instructor came back to me very quickly.

Did train the trainer online . Can’t say enough good things about this course . Especially my tutor Lorraine Walsh she was exceptional. Clear, helpful and brilliantly patient. At times the course seemed daunting but Lorraine was available through email and replied very quickly . Made my experience throughly enjoyable.

I have done five ECCE (QQI Level 5) modules so far, and I have to say the tutor Lorraine Walsh (Communication module) was incredible. It doesn't even feel like an online course, because she's fabulous at answering emails, and her online sessions are brilliant! You can't miss them! Lorraine's support is just perfect, she's a tutor who really cares about her students.

I have had a great experience so far with the open college! A special mention to Lorraine Walsh, she is an amazing tutor, was so helpful and guided me through out the whole module! She really takes pride in her job and its pays off! She makes the assignments so much easier to understand and relieves the pressure totally! Thankyou to all!

The team at The Open College were ALWAYS friendly, supportive, helpful and available at the end of the phone. The course notes were the most detailed I have ever seen. It's a fantastic accessible way of studying without losing out on any of the support a part-time or full time course would give.

I would highly recommend The train the trainer course. There is a lot of information covered in each topic but by the end of the course I understood why there was so much and how useful it all was.
I was doubtful about doing a course online because I felt I learned better in a classroom setting but the tutor Lorraine was extremely supportive and approachable. Her passion and dedication to the course and students are commendable. And The Drop-In calls very informative and enjoyable. Without these sessions and Lorraines guidance, I would not have been able to complete this course. Delighted I signed up.

I was anxious about doing the course on line but I had no need to worry as all the information was available to download and print. The Tutor was so supportive and approachable and answered all queries very quickly. I would definitely recommend doing Train the Trainer course with the Open College.

Tutor Lorraine Walsh was fabulous, extremely supportive and helpful throughout the course, despite being in an online course, Lorraine made you feel like you were having a one-to-one course with herself which can be lost in a classroom. I enjoyed the fact Lorraine took pride in the subject, I love seeing lecturers who take great joy in their subjects. Even though it seemed niche to the rest of us it showed how much she loved teaching, not to mention her unbelievable efforts in giving positive feedback when needed.

Advanced Business Management Major Award Level 6:

I have worked as a manager and wanted to complete a course in the field. I needed a course to fit into my lifestyle as a fulltime working mum.
I thought this course would be perfect. There is such a range of modules to choose from. It is very much self-directed learning so you really need to dedicate the time and effort to the course you are given PDFS, assessment briefs for each module and a block of 8 weeks to complete. You are assigned a tutor for each module, some are absolutely fantastic and do their utmost to support you throughout the module.
Henry Sheahan-Business Management and Human Resource Management was so supportive and helpful really helped me through the assignments for these modules. Damien Kelly- Personal and professional development again so supportive.JM Singh Finance so helpful. There were some tutors who I felt just did not care about whether you succeeded with the course or not. Some tutors would not even introduce themselves at the beginning of the module. I emailed one particular tutor for advice on an assignment and never received a reply I submitted my assignment not knowing if I would have a good chance at passing as my tutor wasn't bothered to reply to me. I also found communication severely lacking with regards to the certification period. I received provisional results for the last module on the 11th of May and believed I would be in for the June certification period. I emailed only to be told that certification is a very lengthly process and they will be in contact when the process is under way. I submitted my last piece of course work on the 8th of April, provisional results received May 11th only after I had emailed to enquire about results, It is now July and I still do not have a definite certification period. It is not the level of service you expect. The course content itself is fantastic. It's just a shame that communication/support is lacking from some tutors.

I have just completed my level 6 Communications Module. I found the drop in sessions with my tutor Lorraine Walsh extremely helpful and supportive. I would advise any learner to avail of these drop in sessions, I got a lot out of these sessions which helped me complete my module. Lorraine was so friendly and explained everything to me in a way that I could understand. Lorraine is a fantastic tutor, an absolute asset to the Open College. Kind regards Ericka X

I recently completed my care skills module, I have got my provisional results and I'm just waiting for my QQI certificate now. The tutor Michael was absolutely brilliant. Very supportive and very fast at getting back to me via email. I would recommend the care skills course to anyone interested 😊

Train the trainer is an excellent course that gives all the information needed to plan and execute a training course. Lorraine is a fantastic tutor who explained the course materials in a very easily understandable way and replied quickly with feedback and answers to any questions and was very approachable, the drop in sessions where immensely helpful with completing the course.

I Recently completed train the trainer course online with tutor Lorraine Walsh. I am usually a classroom based learner and was a bit apprehensive about online but from start to finish the support and encouragement I received was second to none. The live drop in sessions were key to keep you on track and to be able to access previous drop in sessions was great.
