Dissatisfied
Accidentally placed an order for some bulb trumpet vines at night I immediately after tried to cancel it and was told can't cancel it as it's been dug up (dug up bulbs at night in two minutes?) then 5% restocking fee after 12 hours and 15% after 24 hours using your order number (looked everywhere, there was no order number), what a rip off beware, now am going to be stuck with bulbs we don't want, what terrible customer service, warning don't order from this site, we won't going forward!

4 Baby Trees- murdered!
I ordered 2 Paw-Paw and two magnolia trees, They arrived bare root. I planted them immediately in potting soil so I could keep them moist. Six months later, no growth. If you email them they will give you a run-around about the scratch test - I am an experienced gardener running my own nursery, and I know how to administer a scratch test. By spring, they were scratch-test dead. This year I ordered 4 more trees from them, having forget this miserable experience. I subsequently checked on Dave's Garden and other web sites, saw many miserable reviews, remembered my earlier bad experience, and wrote to cancel the order (cancelled in early October, well before they would dig the saplings on 3 November). No response to three cancellation requests. I do not recommend doing business with this company.

We're sorry you're disappointed, but we'd like to clarify several important points.
Pawpaw and Magnolia trees are shipped bare-root and dormant, and the scratch test is a standard horticultural method for checking whether dormant trees are alive. We recommend it because a tree without leaves is not necessarily dead.
Regarding your new order, trees and shrubs are scheduled for November shipping, as clearly stated on our website. However, placing an order for a future shipping date does not mean the order remains open for cancellation without the applicable terms.
Our cancellation policy is disclosed during checkout, and cancellation requests are subject to those terms regardless of whether the trees have been harvested.
We also want to address your statement about receiving no response to three cancellation requests. We take customer communications seriously and would like to review those messages and your order history rather than speculate about what occurred.
Please email customerservice@tennesseewholesalenursery.com with your current order number so our team can review the cancellation requests and provide a clear resolution under our published policies.

We’re sorry you’re concerned, but please don’t assume the remaining 16 bare-root plants have failed.
Bare-root perennials do not all emerge at the same time. The fact that four have already sprouted is encouraging, while the others may simply be entering dormancy and establishing their root systems underground.
At this time of year, many of the remaining plants will not produce visible growth until the following spring. Please leave them planted through winter and allow them their normal spring growing cycle before determining they are dead.
We hope you’ll come back and update your review next spring when you see how many more emerge!

I am writing regarding my recent order 299485, which arrived without any plant identification, care instructions, or documentation. Because no information was provided on how to care for them, the plants ultimately died.
I am extremely disappointed with this experience and I do not recommend this company.

We’re sorry your plants died, but we do need to clarify that planting and care instructions were provided and available.
Our shipments include a QR code on the package that customers can scan with their phone to access our planting and care instructions, and detailed planting information is also available on our website.
If you were unsure how to identify or care for any of the plants, you could also have contacted our customer service team and we would have been happy to help you determine what you received and how to plant it properly.
We provide these resources specifically because different plants require different care. Unfortunately, once plants have been planted and later die, we cannot conclude that the cause was a lack of instructions when those instructions were available with the shipment, online, and through our customer service team.

I got them in the ground
I got them in the ground, but to be honest, the bee balm and trillium didn't look healthy. There was NO appearances of life, so I don't know that they will come back. I have dealt with good bulbs and tubers for a very long time and I don't feel that they were "alive" when I received them.

We’re glad to hear your Purple Coneflowers took right off, but please don’t count the Bee Balm and Trillium as losses yet.
Both are bare-root perennials, and at this time of year they are entering dormancy. They can arrive with absolutely no visible top growth and still be perfectly viable. Unlike the Coneflowers, they may put their energy into establishing underground rather than producing foliage now.
Since they are already planted, please leave them in the ground through winter. The Bee Balm and Trillium may not show visible signs of life until next spring when they naturally break dormancy.
Different species from the same shipment can establish at completely different rates, so the Coneflowers growing first does not mean the others were dead.
We hope you’ll update your review next spring when you see what emerges!

avoid their "bundles"
I ordered a 10 plant bundle and received 5 of 2 different plants, both of which are sun sensitive but that's contrary to their description of the bundle plants. I was also expecting a bigger variety, based on their description and reviews. When I complained it took 4 or 5 emails to finally getting any offer of a resolution and it was for 10% off a future order. They blamed the warehouse for the lack of variety. Just very unhappy with this transaction and that sucks because I was a happy customer of theirs prior.

Love the selection of native plants here, and at good prices. Of three orders I have placed recently, two arrived in excellent shape, but one set of plants in the third order were D.O.A. I had not bought the guarantee for them, but for the other two excellent ones I had. Guarantee is recommended: does not add significantly to average plant cost. Shipping varies wildly independent of order size - a mystery. Customer service rep, Serenity, is very helpful.
Planted some directly in yard, others in pots. Some of the potted plants have started sprouting already, and I expect the others to come up next Spring. We’ll see, however. I plan to place more orders in future.

We’re sorry you were disappointed, but sage naturally has a very small root system when shipped bare-root. What looks like “no root development” compared with a larger perennial can actually be normal planting stock for sage.
Root systems vary tremendously between plant species, and a tiny root does not mean the plant is dead or nonviable.
Once planted, the sage will develop additional roots underground. Since we’re entering dormancy, you may not see substantial visible growth until next spring.
Please give it its full establishment period before determining that it has failed.

Bare-root perennials can be surprisingly small, and the size naturally varies from plant to plant and species to species. A small root does not mean it is unhealthy or won’t grow.
Once planted at the proper depth, the roots will establish underground. Since we’re entering the dormant season, you may not see much above-ground activity until next spring.
We hope those extra roots give you an even fuller display when everything emerges!

Terrible waste of money
Terrible waste of money! Ordered 2 bogo Ironweed.
Received 3 slimy sticks and one with some marginal life.
In a spirit of optimism, I potted up all four sticks/stems in good potting soil.
One developed two leaves and then died.
Would have been easier to just take $23 in cash and throw it in the garbage.

We’re sorry you’re disappointed, but please don’t throw the Ironweed away or assume it has failed based on what you see above ground right now.
Ironweed is a bare-root perennial, and we are now entering its natural fall dormancy period. Bare-root plants can look like little more than sticks or roots when they arrive. Any temporary top growth may also die back as the plant enters dormancy—that does not necessarily mean the root system has died.
At this point in the season, the plants are establishing below the soil and may not produce their real visible growth until next spring.
Please keep all four planted through winter and allow them a full spring growing cycle before determining they failed. We hope you’ll be pleasantly surprised and will update your review when they emerge.

The QR code is designed to take customers to our planting-instructions section, where planting information is provided for the different types of bare-root plants we sell. We use digital instructions rather than placing individual printed instructions in every package.
