On 3/8/26 I rented a uhaul truck at the Lapeer MI location. The truck got stuck in mud and I had purchased the road hazard. It took them 2 hours to get to us and another hour to release the truck so we waited 3 hours of time we had help moving. I returned the truck before the 9pm return time at 811 pm the website would not work for me to complete the online information. I text the number that I had been chatting with from uhaul about the road hazard reporting and let them know the truck was returned since I couldn't get into the website. Uhaul wants to charge me a $20 late fee. They will not remove the fee even though all this occurred. The gas was also right where we received it- just below a quarter tank but they charged a $30 fee plus 11$ for gas. I would plan for multiple rip off charges if you use Uhaul
This company is a joke
This company is a joke. We rented a truck in Buffalo to move my mom. Got all the way to Buffalo three hours away and they had didn’t have a truck after my brother confirmed it the day before. A couple months later I rented a trailer in Dryden. Two days after my reservation was made I was told that I would have to go to Ithaca to pick up the trailer which is another 45 minutes round-trip to pick up and drop off the trailer. When I didn’t get a confirmation on my reservation, I called the location in Dryden and they said they never have the 6 x 12 trailer that I rented. Why would they take a reservation for a location that never carries the trailer I rented. So because I had no other options, I went down to Ithaca to pick up the trailer and 20 minutes before I was supposed to pick up the trailer they called me and said they didn’t have a trailer in Ithaca. They said I could go pick up one in Watkins Glen, which is an additional 45 minutes round-trip.
This company is a joke I would rent from anywhere other than U-Haul.
Changed pickup location without notifying me
I reserved a truck a couple months ago to pick up at a location near me. The day before my move I saw on the website that the pickup location was changed to a place an hour’s drive away. No one informed me of this and I was told the truck I reserved was not available at the nearby location. With advance notice I could have made other plans. As it is, my carefully planned moving day is thrown into disarray. I was offered more mileage to compensate for the extra driving distance to pick up the truck, but was refused a discount or any other compensation for the inconvenience. It’s not the first time I have experienced uhaul not having the equipment I reserved. In the future I will look to other options first.
UNACCEPTABLE!
I was secretly charged extra last minute once your customer service representatives realized my fiancé was not alone late at night for our reservation pickup after making her feel extremely unsafe and very uncomfortable and frightened.I did not agree, ask, nor approve any "SafeTow5k" charge. Is it bad enough that my fiancé felt like she was going to be Raped or Kiddnapped by your customer service representatives at the One stop Plaza? When she walked in alone to purchase a new hitch since we forgot ours. The two workers that night at approximately 9:44pm persisted to ask if she was here for a reservation and then told her that she would have e to wait until they closed the store and locked up before she was allowed to hook up and take the trailer and that they would help her as soon as they close (which does not make sense if location has to be open to pick up reservations, which last reservation pickup time was 9:45pm due to them closing at 10pm. The two U-haul customer service representatives then preceded to follow her in the store very very closely and stand right next to and over her, until I walked in and they realized she was not alone, and conveniently once I was there and she was not alone that was not a problem and no mention of waiting and they checked me in and said I was good to go before they closed the store. Making my fiancé very uncomfortable, scared and unsafe, not just for her but for any other woman that might happen in here by themselves in the future or the past for all we know. in Newburg,MD So when I walked in they decided to add on a charge I did not agree with secretly? As you can see on my account my total should have been about $53 and I declined any other charge. Even as soon as i arrived to check in via the mobile app my price was the exact same that i was quited from the start for almost $53.00 but when i get inside and "interfere" with whatever or any plans they kight have had for a vulnerable single woman late at night (my fiancé at that) Now my total is $61.43? Unacceptable yes it may only be a few extra dollars to some and even most $8.00 to be exact, but it is the principal and also the point that it was added without my agreement or consent after the unacceptable conduct of "U-Haul" customer service representatives, especially to a returning U-haul customer; or any customer/ person for that matter! Worst U-haul experience i have ever usf in my entire life! And I will tell anyone who listens about this experience, the over secretly charging, and the conduct of these u-haul representatives at the One stop plaza in Newburg,MD, and hopefully at the very least it will make the next woman who might actually be alone one day think twice before going to this location, as well as have everyone else triple check all the charges with this location and ask to see exactly what they are doing on that tablet especially after you have already checked in for pickup via the mobile app. DO Better U-haul! Have better standards for who represents your company and brand, instead of just letting anyone become not only a part of the U'haul family and brand, but dictate the image that U-haul as a whole gives off. DO BETTER
Poor reservation system, bad experience
When I used this service, I found the reservation system was not good. The confirmation it sent me would have the wrong type of vehicle or wrong location. So I called their customer service phone number 3 times to confirm the correct order. I also received confirmation from their "schedulers" before pickup. When I showed up for my 10 ft truck, they had none in stock and told me I had to use a 20 foot truck and pay the higher price for the larger truck. When I called customer service they would not consider reducing the price to what I had originally ordered. I will never use UHaul again and I do not recommend them.
They ban me from the whole U-Haul…
They ban me from the whole U-Haul worldwide Network because I made a complaint because their trucks were dirty and almost impossible to find the key return. Then they said they did not bend me but then when I went to go rent another truck they made comments on the phone pretending they couldn't hear me but I heard them and then they reaffirmed that they banned me.
Do yourself a favor and find another way
I would rather move everything one item at a time with a shopping cart than use uhaul. I have been passed around to over 15 different people. They gave me the wrong size truck, a round trip trailer instead of a one way (I'm now 9 hours away in a different state). Had me driving for over an 1.5 to 3 different locations just to drop off a trailer so I can unload the truck. Was charged extra mileage and time and when I dropped off the truck they switched the location again after I verified the night before. Moving is stressful enough, do yourself a favor and find another way besides uhaul
U-Haul has terrible customer service…
U-Haul has terrible customer service and allows your vehicles to get broken into on the property and does not except responsibility even when they tell you to park in a specific place. Zero help the manager didn’t even call me to tell me it happened. Very un professional and the CEO had this to say….
Vittorio, You have my sympathy. The entire state of Ca is known for breaking car windows and grabbing and running. Leaving your valuables in the passenger area in CA is a bad idea. Your local elected officials are supposed to provide health , safety and welfare for the citizenry. These are elected officials. They can be unelected.
Chris Trudell manages this area for U-Haul. He can attempt to address the specifics of this location. I question whether U-Haul told you to park ther or whether you indicated you needed to park and U-Haul told you where your vehicle would be out of the way of our occupancy of our premise. Joe

The folks at the U-Haul in Tyler @ 2616 W Gentry Pkwy are the most helpful U-Haul I've ever used. Not only did they install what I wanted, but they also zip-tied, put back in missing screws and went out of their way. Normally you don't get this type of service. They pointed out items to keep an eye on without trying to up sale me, put screws back in that Pro-Tech in Kilgore never put back. I feel like this hitch and wiring will not give me any problem as long as I own the car.

Only because there is no, no star option. U-haul dealer : Kashef Automotive Morton St , Franklin, In . Charged $247.36 for a 10’ truck for a in town one day rental!!!!! Truck was never updated from previous rental. Mileage was wrong, fuel level wrong. Contract U-haul twice, district manager never reached out either time. Was refunded $56 after the first call no response after the second call will be calling a third time, should’ve went with Budget but they weren’t available for the time I needed. Never use U-Haul again. Avoid this dealer which is also an automotive repair shop. What a joke.

HORRIBLE COMPANY
HORRIBLE COMPANY, IT'S TOTALLY UNRELIABLE. I needed to be across country for the closing of a house and made my reservation a month in advance. THE NIGHT BEFORE moving I get an email telling me I have to drive 35 miles away to pick up a truck and then once I get there all hell breaks loose, the manager destroyed the truck by backing a trailer into it and there went my reservation. No other trucks available. I now have to wait TWO DAYS in order to get another truck. That gives me three days to drive from NC to CA. If I die on the road due to UHaul, someone sue the hell out of them for me.
Customer Service, Privacy Concerns, and Account Errors
I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received. After two separate calls, my issue remains unresolved, and one call ended with the representative abruptly hanging up on me.
My account is somehow linked to people I do not know, including someone named “Kenneth.” When I called to ask how this could happen, the E-Alert representative was rude, defensive, and refused to verify information she had already provided. When I calmly asked for clarification, she terminated the call. I have recordings of both interactions.
What’s most concerning is the privacy issue. If customers aren’t allowed to know how unknown individuals are connected to their accounts, how are we supposed to trust that our personal information is secure?
This experience was unprofessional, frustrating, and unacceptable. I hope someone takes accountability and actually resolves these issues.
Do Not Rent at "Best 4 Less"
Poor app, non user friendly that took an hour with a rep to figure out my check in process. My reservation was changed 3 times to Best 4 Less in Atlanta. The location was more than sketchy and uncomfortable with a large rifle posted behind the protective glass. My truck was nasty! Smelled like Marijuana with Marijuana shavings on the seats and in the made up ashtray. Brownies all over the seats and floors with trash. 1/4 tank of gas in the truck. The most horrible experience renting Uhaul!

Delays, extra charges, disorganization
I was able to book the truck in advance with no problems. When going to receive the truck the attendant completed the paperwork and charged my credit card for the rental. After my card had been charged she notified that uhaul had closed my account due to an e alert possibly due to an overdue payment, I reviewed all my previous receipts and emails from uhaul and saw I had paid all previous rentals in full and had never been notified my account had been closed. The woman said she was unable to fix this and I would have to call uhaul before they could release the keys for a vehicle I had already paid for. After calling uhaul and waiting on hold for 30 minutes a very sarcastic and disrespectful employee answered the phone. He said there was an e alert but could not tell me why, or why I had not been notified of this and was able to book the vehicle without notification that i would be unable to pick it up. He was fortunately able to clear it and after about a 45 minute delay I was able to receive the vehicle. I also rented moving blankets from the pick up facility. The woman told me I needed to return then to the pick up location and not the drop of location. At the drop off location the staff member was rude and seemed to have difficulty understanding me. She said I needed to drop the blankets of at her location or I would be charged for them. The blankets were already en route with a family member back to the pick up location as the uhaul representative at the pick up instructed me to. I tried to explain the representative at the drop off location this but she could not understand what I was saying to her. Needless to say I was charged 60$ for moving blankets even though they were returned.

My husband rented a uhaul truck from Laporte Indiana a couple of months ago this vendor of U haul organization was closed spoken with representative on phone because truck had no gas in it. We put gas into truck and this company had the nerve to refuse to rent to rent truck to us today. We were at Busy Bee Auto in Valparaiso Indiana this organization nice trucks full ready for service but Stephanie the company's customer service agent has a bad, unethical, unprofessional smart mouth stating my husband can file complaint but that $35.00 needs to be paid when there vendor in Laporte, Indiana knew truck didn't have any gas, we dropped it off in Valparaiso Indiana and the representatives knew issues but did not file a dispute they put responsibility on us. Uhaul needs to find more reliable ways to rent out their trucks like ( Busy Bee Auto in Valparaiso Indiana or Ace Hardware in Lake Station, Indiana these organizations has never steered us wrong. Stephanie whom ever you are that's working for Uhaul needs to be terminated and I know you're an African American individual ( but your conduct on phone with my husband ( Billy Jenkins) will not go untolerated

Man at the rental location decided to arbitrarily double my fees. My cost should have been rental plus mileage. Totalling approx $80 at most. Instead i am seeing nearly $150 in charges that i was not told about nor did I authorize. How is this legal?
