Refused to refund for items. Do not buy anything from them if you think you might need to return it. They are scammers!

Received the following information after returning several items, worth £136:

“We are contacting you today to confirm that your return for the above order has been received.
Please note that the trade and assets of the business were bought out of Administration on 1st November.

As a result of this, we are unfortunately unable to offer you a refund as your order was placed before this date.

As a gesture of Goodwill, we can offer you a gift voucher to the sum of your return which can be used towards any future orders with Thought.
Alternatively, if you do not wish to accept the gift voucher, we can return the goods back to you.

A physical refund would sit with the Administrator. As a creditor of the Administration, it is unlikely you will receive this, but the appointed administrators were Begbies Traynor if you wish to go down this route.

We understand this is disappointing, however we have been advised these are the only options available.

First time buying from this company (order placed 31/10/23) and will certainly be the last. Can’t see how this is even legal. Will be pursing the refund…

For those of you seeking refunds from Thought Clothing, or considering placing an order, here is the note I have received from them today

I cannot understand why they continued trading after going into administration. I spent £111.00 and it was delivered today- some of it is unsuitable. Surely it is not legal to continue to take money from people when they know they they will not be able to fulfil their refund obligations? Ordering online is somewhat difficult regarding size and quality of product so returns are to be expected. Feel so frustrated as just been through a similar process with People Tree!

Thought Clothing are in administration apparently. Bought an item which was extremely poor quality. I contacted their customer service who said return it and we will refund immediately. I did this and as I heard nothing for nearly 2 weeks I contacted them again. On 6th November they replied saying not showing on their system could I send proof of postage, which I did. On 10th November they replied confirming receipt but basically hard luck they have been in administration since 1st November so I can't have a refund. First time this was mentioned. Not good at all.

Bought a pair of socks for a wedding in July. Loved the socks at first glance. Wore the socks for a few hours at the wedding and as soon as I took the shoes off, there was already a hole and the letters used to write the brand were peeling off. I contacted them to let them know of the poor quality and they responded pretty fast telling me they are sending a new pair... that was July, it's nearly November and still nothing received. I'm not going to chase them for poor quality and poor service. Just don't bother ordering from them.

Thought Clothing = big con. They claim to be sustainable fashion but how is this the case if their clothes start to disintegrate after you have worn them a few times? The main issue I have found is with fabrics which contain Tencel or Lyocell. Thought Clothing use this type of fabric across a range of items they sell, including tops, trousers, leggings, vests, underwear. The fabric quality is extremely poor and after a few wears and washes (gentle wash at 30), holes start to appear and/or the fabric goes very see-through and saggy. Initially when you order the clothes they look fine but fabric which can't be washed or worn is basically a waste of money.

I have bought quite a few items of clothing from Thought with very positive outcomes. I have had to send two items back and both were refunded quickly. I’ve recently bought some multicoloured trousers which arrived today and which I absolutely love! I am a 10 and they are a loose fit but I like that and think it’s how they are meant to be. I love this company and it has never disappointed so far!

Unfortunately I'm having many troubles in having a support by their customer service!
I received my first order (before I bought their clothes from an Italian e-commerce) and it was not the one I paid for (one item is missing)! This is very disappointing and more disappointing is not having an explanation for this and a solution to fix the problem.
Plus, even if I asked by email for advice on the size of the products and they say the size was perfect, the items are enormous and this could easily be avoid if they put more size in cm and not only one dimension to compare (the width of the product is perfect but if I knew the length would have been so long I would have certainly not buy the clothes). Never ever again, the worst customer service from an online shop ever

I’m surprised by all the negative comments here. I recently ordered a dress in two different sizes, in their sale. I kept one of the dresses and returned the other. I received an email a few days later regarding a refund, and it arrived in my bank a few days after that. The dress is of high quality and much better than my expectations. It was sustainably packaged, and the company kept me up to date regarding delivery etc. I will probably use this company again.

I’ve been a customer for a long time now and always had issues with my refunds but really like thought so I still shopped there until my last order in July when i e turned a dress for it being too big. Now first of all after 2 weeks I hadn’t heard so I emailed them and it took forever to hear back. They couldn’t locate the dress and once they did they calculated the refund wrong ! This took another week. I opened a case with PayPal . They asked me to close the case so they can refund me which seemed odd. I think escalated this to PayPal and got my correct refund . This took a month. Never shopping there again!!! They’d rather lose a customer than reimburse £29 on time or at all! Incredibly poor customer service . Be careful and pay through PayPal or credit card so that you can claim your money back in case this happens to you

I ordered twice last month. I had a bad experience with my first order; the cardigan that I received was very bad quality and had a hole in it. I ended up returning both items from my first order for quality reasons. They refunded me within 2 weeks. I placed a second order for the same cardigan but in two different colors, and I received better items. I wouldn't pay full price for their items due to their low quality, but with good discounts, I don't mind.

The items I ordered were unsuitable so I sent them back for a refund. 3 weeks after tracking shows Thought received them back I still hadn't received any acknowledgment of this, let alone got my money back. I followed this up on social media and was assured the refund was being processed...it didn't materialise. I eventually got my money back after messaging again...apparently, a 'system glitch' had caused the problem. I own several items of Thought Clothing which are good quality but from now on I'll avoid buying from their website directly and only order their clothes from John Lewis which has a superior delivery and refunds system.

I am really surprised to read about other peoples' negative experiences with Thought. I recently purchased a load of clothes from them for the first time and the service was great - the clothing arrived on time and was packaged sustainably. I had to return some of the stuff as it didn't fit or suit me and unbeknownst to me, I accidentally returned an item I meant to keep, so it wasn't on my returns form. They immediately returned this item to me which I thought was so good of them.

Hi there. Do not buy from this website. I never received the goods I ordered. I think they may be fraudulent. No email back. No response. Having to go to my bank to see if I can retrieve the cash. Do not buy.

I have enjoyed clothing from this company in the past and was excited to purchase some items on sale: a scarf and a shawl that were advertised "organic cotton." It didn't occur to me to check what % was cotton, but in both it turned out they are 76% acrylic and then another % non cotton and a very small % organic cotton. Yes, the cotton is organic but there is very little of it. The header/description for the item is "Organic Cotton... scarf" "Organic Cotton ... Shawl" Read the details! This is incredibly misleading. They will make a refund but I have to pay to send it to the UK. Really???????

Half my purchase was cancelled and refunded because Thought didn't have the stock. This happened to me the last time I placed an order about a year ago. I would have expected their services to have improved over time but clearly not. It's a shame as I want to support sustainable clothes companies, but I also want to receive the clothes I buy!

I just wanted to write to say thank you and let you know the difference you have made to me.
I have been a regular client of a podiatrist Rebecca in Glasgow for some time now and last year began purchasing your bamboo socks at her recommendation due to various foot complaints.
In this time the breathability and grip (provided by the bamboo I believe) has made great improvements to my feet.
Furthermore, your socks are a lot prettier than my previous prefered brand aetrex who use copper and are simply black or white orthopaedic looking socks. This may not seem important but I am a 29 year old woman and this genuinely has done wonders for my confidence.
You have gained a customer for life, please keep up the good work!

I love their clothes! A time ago, some of the items I bought to them didn't reach the expected quality, but recently, they have solved these problems, and I have received really wonderful clothes at a very just price. Regarding returns, when I have returned some item, I have been quickly refunded, even with the shipping costs (I live in Spain, so I have no free returns, but at least, they have refunded me with the shipping costs). The last summer, I had a problem with a naturally dyed t-shirt, which changed of color after washing, and I was refunded without having to return the t-shirt. So, I am really happy with the Thought team in all respects!
