15+ years shopping at Wickes Plumsteadin SouthLondon, staff know me well as I'm a regular Trade Customer. On the 7th of June 2026: a poorly english spoken security guard followed me all round the moment I'd entered the store, stared at me several times to try and intimate me when I left after purchased goods on my trade account...he then came out & tried to search my coat/pockets without reason or authority. No ID displayed, couldn’t explain why...just found it amusing, deliberately covered his badge when I asked for details to take a photo. Went inside to complain — staff were completely unhelpful, said “maybe because you had a jacket on” and kept repeating there's been “lots of theft lately”. Absolute excuse. I was targeted purely because of my race Humiliating, disrespectful, no apology from Wickes management in fact the Duty Manager closed ranks and said he did a food job stopping me as that's his job. Terrible way to treat a long‑standing customer.

I need a brand new kitchen and wickes was the first company that came over. They arrived on Monday to measure and told us we will be contacted by Wednesday. No contact whatsoever. I tried ringing several times, no answer. I finally reached someone the week after and they sounded surprised I was even chasing. I asked about the next steps and mentioned how other companies have given me quotes etc. They said you can come into the store to design. I tried setting a date and they said I should speak to my husband and get back to them. I called again a week later to book an appointment, they said we will call you back in 5 minutes. They did not call me back. They simply do not want my business it seems. The worst customer service ever. I would not go with them.

Better late than never. We bought our kitchen in January but installed it at the end of April. George was very helpful in making the right choice even with our modest budget, and subsequently he was always ready to help when needed. Many thanks

Booked an in home visit at 14:30. Their rep (Paul) called 14 minutes before the appointment already sounding uninterested and with no intent of coming in. Wanted to see if they can get us to spend at least 10-12k minimum, trying to intimidate during the call and basically saying “you’re wasting my time if you don’t have this kind of money”. Very unprofessional. Ridiculous.

Terrible. George called us to say we had to visit wickes store first before he can come and measure. Our appointment was 2.30pm on Sunday 22nd March and we arranged childcare so that we could talk through measurements and options. When George Whelan called us he basically said “kitchen about £15k and bathroom about £8k and no point in coming out until we have looked at a brochure”. Won’t ever use Plumstead again. Going to a recommended consultant at Erith now. Both of our parents have used the home consultant service before and loved it but never had this experience.

The guy was friendly but he told me I was "out of area" and he didn't start a new bathroom design. Instead he suggested I speak with the independent tradesman visiting my property. It seemed a cop out. I felt shoed away. I will say the guy was friendly but he didnt really listen to me. I left thinking it was a waste.of time.

My experience with Wickes was terrible from start to end. I hired them in hopes of a stress-free experience where a company handles the overseeing of the project. Instead, it was one of the most stressful things I’ve ever done, as I had to manage the project and chase them constantly for updates.
Project overran:
Due to an error on Wickes' side, I was not notified that the sink I had chosen 2 months in advance had been discontinued.Therefore it didn’t arrive with the delivery and I only discovered it when the packages were opened and the sink was missing. I had to ring up 3 times in a week to find out what was going on and was left without a sink and an incomplete bathroom over Christmas. Wickes refused to take responsibility for this error.
Design failure:
The designer was inexperienced and got parts of my design wrong that are now irreversible.
Loss of facilities:
I was left without a toilet overnight; this was the only toilet in my one-bedroom flat, and I was left with no option but to stay in a hotel. When I complained and asked for compensation, they refused to agree and didn’t see any issues with this "loss of service"!!
Horrific Customer Service:
I had to ring the CEC countless times to get information about what was going on at multiple stages of the project. I spoke to a different person almost every time I called; none of them seemed to prep before the call, and I had to repeat my issues constantly. They also didn’t seem to know what was going on most of the time. My emails were ignored, and my assigned designer never followed up with me when I was told they would. I had to chase them at every step!
The Finance Issue:
Wickes uses a "3-call verbal agreement" policy to try and close complaints. Even though I engaged with these calls and explicitly stated I was NOT satisfied, they moved to trigger my finance agreement and activate repayments anyway. They have ignored my emails and didn’t even seem to read them when I mentioned them on calls. Forcing payment while a formal dispute is open and while I am still seeking a Deadlock Letter for the Ombudsman (FHIO) is unprofessional.
Completely unprofessional and useless. Won't use again.

Searching for a kitchen can be a challenging and difficult process. After visiting many kitchen companies and comparing their reviews, decided with Wicks. We were so pleased we meet George who showed us lots of different styles, did a home visit to plan our new kitchen and showed us different layouts we didn’t think of doing. George kept in touch during the installation and quickly sorted out any concerns we had The fitters arrived on time everyday and were clean and tidy and their attention to detail was amazing. George came to see our new kitchen and we couldn’t fault George for the excellent customer service he gave us and would highly recommend him to plan your new kitchen.

Very friendly and gave me great ideas that I hadn’t thought of myself.
