Very Disappointing Service

Very Disappointing Service

We had a terrible experience with this company. Shane was the fitter who attempted to install our blinds, and the results were far from acceptable. One window had multiple fitting attempts, leaving raw plugs exposed and causing significant damage to the plaster.

Some of our windows are quite large, requiring more than one blind. However, the gaps left between the blinds were so wide that they completely defeated the purpose of having them.

Once the blinds were installed, we were extremely disappointed with the cheap-looking top trim. It didn’t line up properly and looked very poor. I raised the issue, and they agreed to return and replace the trim as well as a damaged pulley caused during installation. They told us this would be sorted the following week.

That was three months ago. Despite repeated follow-up calls—many of which were ignored—we’re still waiting.

This is completely unacceptable, especially for a £900 job. We have more blind requirements coming up, but we won’t be using this company again.

Following our previous correspondence, I am writing to provide an update on the matter concerning the service appointment and subsequent review.

On the scheduled date, I attended the property at the agreed-upon time to repair the blinds. Upon arrival, no one was present, and I was instructed to return later, which I promptly did. I acknowledge that my demeanor during the interaction may not have met our professional standards, as it was a reactive response to feeling verbally confronted. However, I must clarify that many of the complaints outlined in the original review were inaccurate.

Subsequently, our company reached out to Dan via email, requesting an updated review to reflect my attendance and the service provided. In response, we received a message that could be interpreted as an attempt to extort payment in exchange for removing the review, accompanied by additional unfounded accusations. This correspondence has been forwarded to South Yorkshire Police for further investigation.

The matter has been resolved as of the appointment date, and no further contact is necessary.

Regarding the large windows, as discussed prior to ordering, we noted that three blinds would be necessary due to their size, with gaps aligned with the window frame for a balanced appearance. We explained that these gaps were unavoidable due to the window dimensions and the uneven recess caused by the property’s age. I’m sorry if the result still fell short of your expectations, and I’d like to work with you to address any ongoing concerns about the appearance.

On the issue of the exposed raw plugs and plaster damage, I was unaware of this until your review, as it wasn’t mentioned in our recent conversation. Could you please share photos or further details so we can address this during our scheduled visit next Friday? I apologize for any oversight on our part.

Yorkshire Blinds- perfectionist

Shane from Yorkshire Blinds arrived to measure as requested before Christmas, plenty of choice of clolurs and materials.
Knowledge of quality of blinds really good.
Shane was easy to talk to, order placed on the 6 January and fitted the following week.
Shane came to fit blinds made it look easy no mess, measurements perfect, did not take very long to complete.
Would defiantly use Yorkshire Blinds again and can recommend Shane and the company.

Professional and courteous

Professional and courteous. They are price competitive with the well known blind suppliers out there BUT the customer service and fitting service make this company stand out from the rest. I would highly recommend his company and definitely use them again.

Excellent Customer Service

We had received a number of quotations for a particular brand of blinds but unfortunately all had very long lead times for delivery.
Looking further came across Yorkshire Blinds and not only did they have the exact blinds we wanted but delivery was a little over a week from receipt of order (Seven days was advised and the minor delay was due to the May bank holiday). Shane was very helpful with measurement guidance and all phone calls and emails were answered promptly. Also, must add Yorkshire Blinds were by far the best price. Would highly recommend. Thanks Shane.

Excellent experience

Excellent experience - Shane provided a top quality professional consultation on which blinds would suit our house best, and was very patient while we chose the right colour scheme and answered all our questions. The blind installation was very quick, the installed blinds are of great quality, professionally installed and look very nice. We are coming back for more in the future.

New Perfect Fit Shutters

We are so happy with our Perfect Fit Shutters purchased from Yorkshire Blinds. Shane was very helpful during ordering. He then personally delivered and fit them to a high standard.

They have transformed our home and would certainly recommend these shutters for a mobile home/static caravan like ours.

Excellent Vertical blinds…

I have just received my Vertical blinds and they are lovely. They were so easy to order and the sizes are spot on. The only negative was the courier that caused a slight delay in delivery. A very stress free experience and I intend to use Yorkshire blinds for my next project. There customer service through it all was excellent. Thanks.

Perfect service

We ordered some roller blinds and vertical blinds with the expectation to be waiting a couple of months but no Shane was able to make and fit them within a matter of 2 weeks! We are so happy with our blinds and Shane’s service thank you again. If we ever need any more blinds we definitely be returning to you.

Stay Away

In order to write a review I have to give stars, one is the least but none would be more appropriate. Firstly the quality of the components for the roller blinds is good, the initial assessment and ordering was fine. Here ends the positive.

The quality of the manufacture and fitting is very poor. Neither of the two roller blinds that I ordered are fitted into the hem bar properly at the base so the bottom of the blind is wrinkled with no opportunity to straighten them out without professional kit, or take them back to the place of manufacture and redo them both. The hem bar is cracked on the window side of both blinds. They look to have been made by an amateur with little or no understanding, or knowledge of how to use the equipment to make them.

Shane has been a disappointment after his initial 2 visits to measure and discuss options, both of which went well, and a sample of fabric was ordered for me and delivered by him. After fitting there were several problems – at the point of fitting I told Shane is wasn’t happy with the wrinkles at lower end of both blinds, I was told they would even out. Not understanding the manufacture process at this time I accepted this explanation. I paid for the blinds whilst he was here with me after fitting.

When I came to raise the blind in the spare bedroom I realised it wouldn’t go up more than half way, something was stopping it. I rang Shane to let him know and he said he would order new brackets so that the blind could be fitted further from the wall.

After two weeks of hearing nothing I contacted him again. He said the brackets had arrived the day before and he would come out on Thursday 9th November 2023 between 10 and 12 to fit them. After 12 on that day I rang him, he had no recollection of my appointment with him and did not know what my call was about. I told him about the brackets and he said he’d come out and fit them on Saturday11th November 2023 between 10 and 12.

Again he did not come and did not let me know he would not be there. Mystified by this unprofessional practice I wasn’t sure what to do. I left it a couple of days before I rang him again. He said he’d had problems at his property because of the weather; I sympathised with him and said I hoped he was ok and thought this would possibly explain why he hadn’t had time to contact me.

He made another appointment for the following Tuesday 21st November 2023 between 10 and 12, I asked him to make sure he kept this appointment this time, as I needed the room for visitors, he assured me that he would. The day before the visit I messaged him to remind him of our arrangement – no reply.

On the Tuesday of the appointment I waited until 1145 to ring him to make sure in the remaining 15 minutes of his appointment timing he would be with me. No reply, his mobile phone did not take messages. I rang his home number and left a message twice – no reply and nothing since.

Because of my needs for visitors I arranged for a reliable, professional and trustworthy person to sort out this mess. It was obvious from their assessment of the problem that the brackets had not been fitted adequately into the ceiling, and had been fitted too high to accommodate the bulk of the blind as it rolls up. It now does but it has cost me another workers fee to sort it out. I still have to find a way to try and sort out the wrinkling at the bottom of the blinds, it looks awful.

I have to say that despite all this I have been patient, tolerant, polite and have tried to be understanding of Shane. After the last no show and before I hired someone else to help me, I left a message on his home phone to I said I was unhappy with the work and the service and needed him to contact me to sort it out. He has not done this.

I do not recommend Yorkshire Blinds, I certainly do not recommend Shane and hope that from my experience and consequent review here of this dreadful, unprofessional service nobody else has to go through what I have had to endure.

The only conclusion of this that I can come to is that Shane knew his own workmanship for fitting, and the manufacture of the blinds before they were fitted was faulty and did not want to come out and fix it as it would have meant him losing money. It may well have lost him customers too. Stay away.

I visited Mrs Feilding on the day she wrote this review. Mrs Fielding knowing i had a personal issues, attempted to blackmail me with a 1 star review if i did not give her a full refund and leave the blinds, i have been back to her house twice since to look at the blinds because she keeps sabotaging them, i have emails from Mrs Feilding, as evidence, id rather have a 1 star review than give into blackmail.
