Unsafe for families – shocking baby seat, rude staff, and dismissive attitude by Admita (Vilnius)
We hired a car in Vilnius from Alamo, operated locally by Admita, while visiting family in Lithuania. We paid extra for an infant car seat advertised as government-approved for our newborn. What we received was shocking – the first seat was torn, falling apart, covered in stains, and missing the headrest. It was completely unsafe, unhygienic, and unfit for a baby. When we asked for a replacement, staff were rude, dismissive, and acted like we were being unreasonable. The second seat was only slightly better but still had missing padding and exposed Velcro we had to cover ourselves so it wouldn’t scratch our baby’s back. We even had to clean the seat ourselves before using it. Even our Lithuanian family were ashamed and appalled that a company in their own country would provide such an unsafe seat for a newborn.
The staff were rude throughout and pressured us aggressively to buy extra insurance, implying we would otherwise be charged for damage – which is exactly what they later tried to do. When we raised our concerns formally in a complaint, their response was to blame us, writing: “We understand that you have recently become new parents and may be experiencing increased stress – however, rental terms and conditions apply equally to all customers.” This was disgustingly dismissive, implying our concerns were just because we’re new parents rather than acknowledging their dangerous failings and unprofessional service.
This is by far the worst rental experience we have ever had anywhere in the world. Unsafe, unprofessional, and absolutely disgraceful. Avoid Admita Vilnius at all costs if you value your child’s safety and expect even basic customer respect.
